Consumer Complaint: I am an American Express customer - who received an offer to open a KABBAGE checking account in exchange for a {$300.00} opening bonus. On or around XXXX XXXX I submitted an online application to open the checking account under this promotion. The website stated my application would be reviewed and account opened within a few business days ; my application was submitted to AMEX / Kabbage at the latest on XX/XX/XXXX for a {$300.00} opening bonus promotion that had an expiration of XX/XX/XXXX. AMEX / Kabbage did not provide me any status updates on my application since it was submitted, on or around XX/XX/XXXX I received a snail mail paper statement about this checking account having been opened on my behalf. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted Kabbage / AMEX to inquire about my account in order to ensure the {$300.00} opening bonus was applicable. The {$300.00} incentive is the only reason I applied for the account and it was promised that my account would be opened " within a few business days '' - my account application was submitted on XX/XX/XXXX. According to Kabbage / AMEX customer service agent " XXXX '' my checking account XXXX was effectively opened on XX/XX/XXXX. The agent stated that the {$300.00} promotion I had signed up for ( on XX/XX/XXXX ) would not be honored for this account. They stated that the signup bonus required the account be opened prior to XX/XX/XXXX. I submitted my complaint to Kabbage customer service that my account application had been submitted in a timely manner ; on XX/XX/XXXX. Plenty of time for the checking account to be opened and for the {$300.00} account bonus terms to have been met. That no communication from AMEX / Kabbage had been received since submitting my application. A customer would NOT expect an account to have been opened under different terms than originally agreed upon ; my application was submitted in XX/XX/XXXX during a {$300.00} PUBLIC signup bonus promotion ( https : XXXX ).

Consumer Complaint: My American Express Credit Card called XXXX XXXX was about to expire. I received a new card in the mail which was also XXXX XXXX card but it was XXXX that I had canceled many years back because I spoke to a representative who confirmed that I cancelled this card. Unknowingly I reactive this card thinking it was my replacement to my card that was about to expire, I then saw XXXX of the same cards on my online app and I assumed eventually they would move the balance over ( why would I open XXXX of the same cards! ) .I waited and started using the new card it went over my limit and I got a notification. So I called Amex right away and they confirmed I cancelled the card so why was I sent a replacement for that and not my new card. This unfair to me as my credit will be impacted.

Consumer Complaint: I received an offer on an American Express card which indicated the following : Get a one-time {$65.00} statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of {$250.00} in one or more purchases online at XXXX XXXX XXXX and in-store at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, Just XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XX/XX/2021. See terms. Upon visiting the website indicated I clicked the " Auto Services '' link in which provides an option to find a service center. Upon entering a zip code, I'm presented with recommended locations, which I visited one of the recommended locations on XX/XX/2021 and spend the required {$250.00}. Unfortunately, American Express indicated that the purchase was not eligible as it was not a XXXX XXXX. The only exclusion listed in the terms was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX which the location I visited was not. XXXX XXXX XXXX have a different website and services commercial/fleet vehicles as shown in this link XXXX XXXX XXXX. As I consumer, I felt I did my due diligence to visit the required website to find an an XXXX XXXX center. I'm not sure how as consumer would have been able to know that XXXX would recommend an auto service center that was not an actual XXXX service center. If there were other exclusion aside from commercial centers, it should be indicated in the terms and it should be clear enough that consumers can make a clear distinction on how to identify a participating location when visiting the website listed in the offer.

Consumer Complaint: I signed up for the American Express XXXX XXXX based on a specific offer that was sent to me for {$200.00} when I spend {$2000.00}. This was the only reason I got the card. I have never had the card before. I spent {$2000.00} on it. I just chatted a customer service rep, XXXX, ( XX/XX/2022 ) and he claims that I " denied '' the intro bonus, which is simply not true. I have never received ANY notice whatsoever that I would not get the bonus and I signed up specifically based on the bonus. I would never have used the card or agreed to it without this bonus. His " remedy '' is to submit a report that would take 6-8 weeks to resolve. This is an unacceptable remedy to this situation. I submitted a complaint with the XXXX XXXX XXXX and an American Express representative ( named XXXX ) did contact me but DID NOT offer any resolution and furthermore was rude. She claimed that because American Express included fine print in its agreements that give it the power to terminate any offer, it has the ability to exercise that at any time -- a WARNING to all customers seeking American Express credit cards that they can and will randomly NOT HONOR their agreements per their discretion. These actions seem fraudulent to me that a company would coerce consumers into agreements with promises of bonus offers then NOT HONOR such agreements solely because they claim not to have to based on the fine print in their contracts. BEWARE AMERICAN EXPRESS CREDIT CARD OFFERS. I will be escalating this further with the XXXX, CFPB, and the media.
