Consumer Complaint: American Express hiked the interest rate on my credit card from 15.99 % to 29.99 % on XX/XX/2022. I called the company on XX/XX/2022 for an explanation. The customer service representative gave me an illogical reason. I tried to reason with her to no avail.

Consumer Complaint: American Express close my personal credit card and two of my business credit cards without any notice. Ive been battling XXXX for the last year and receiving XXXX treatment. I was incapacitated to keep track of my finances at that time. My former accountant did not stay up on my finances at all. In fact, I had to close a few bank accounts to sue fraudulent activity from my former accountant. I was numerously harassed by American Express with constant calls every single day. They closed my accounts and provided no reason as to why. Now that I am in a better health situation I told them my financial affairs are in order. But they still moves forward and close my account without notice and/or my permission.

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 - a merchant fraudulently charged {$100.00} to my American Express card. I disputed this transaction as fraudulent. On XX/XX/2022, American Express send me written correspondence saying that I am responsible for the charge based upon the documentation that was attached, yet the documentation attached was a non-descript electronic receipt, reflecting a transaction on a card with a different number, without stating what the goods are for, who ordered them, and where they were sent. Further, this does not change the fact that I DID NOT order ANYTHING from this merchant, DID NOT receive ANYTHING from this merchant, and DO NOT have any idea what this charge is for! Instead of performing its duty under the Fair Credit Billing Act, American Express tells me that I should resolve it with the merchant myself.

Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Consumer Complaint: In the XXXX of XXXX, I received emails saying a payment was due on an Amex card. I do not have an Amex card and never applied for one. I ignored the emails, assuming it was spam. When I noticed a drop in my credit months later, I called Amex to file fraud. It was denied because apparently a payment was made on the account. I tried to file another claim with more information but it has continued to be denied, apparently because that a payment has been made at some point on that card. I never made a payment. Around the same time this card is said to have been opened, I had just been granted full physical custody of my son. I believe that this card was applied for, used, and possible even paid one time for by my ex, the father of my son, in retaliation to that decision. He has ALL my information. I have since changed all my passwords and account information, but he still has my social security number and other information about me I can not change. I am almost positive this was him. This is now seriously effecting my credit and I need something to be done about it.

I have charged well over {$100000.00} over the last year and half with AMEX, but they have refused to honor my 100,000 bonus promo. Consumer Complaint: The company I work for has a corporate American Express account of which I am the primary contact for. Between XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022 I received 6 phone calls from ( XXXX ) XXXX. After ignoring the first 2 calls, I answered the 3rd call. An automated voice stated they were calling me ( by name ) in regards to my American Express card ending in XXXX and that fraudulent activity was detected. I was in the middle of another project and immediately hung up mid-recording. About an hour later I had completed the project I was working on and began investigating the call. I had thought it was odd I didn't get a text or email from AmEx regarding the suspected fraud. I logged into the AmEx account online and did not notice any suspicious activity. I then called the number on the back of my AmEx and spoke to a representative from the fraud department. It is worth noting, the number on the back of my AmEx did not match the number that called me. The fraud department rep stated there was no suspicious activity flagged on our account nor any notes on our account regarding a verified AmEx rep reaching out to me. I did provide the number that called me to the rep who did verify that it was the AmEx consumer number, which was fishy in and of itself because this a corporate card not personal. The fraud rep stated it was likely a fishing scam. Today, between XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX I received 18 calls from ( XXXX ) XXXX. I did not answer any of them. Not only is this an inappropriate credit card scam, but the frequency of the calls is harrassing in nature! That makes 24 calls is less than 24 hours!!

Consumer Complaint: Amex is engaged in similar fraudulent activity as XXXX XXXX and someone needs to investigate their business practices. I am an Amex XXXX Card holder. In their card agreement, Amex auto activates a product which acts as a high interest loan to all new accounts. Amex doesn't allow the customer the ability to opt-out of this product at the time of signing up for the card. I signed up for my card in XX/XX/2022 and became aware of this product in XX/XX/2022. I contact Amex to de-activate this product in XX/XX/2022 on a recorded line, which they did. On XX/XX/2022 Amex auto-activated the loan with a 26 % interest rate on my card without my consent. I didn't become aware of this again until XX/XX/2022. Compounding this, Amex auto-populates transactions into their loan product in an attempt to collect 26 % interest on transactions the customer never intended to use for credit purposes. To fix this, it takes Amex days to untangle these auto-populated transactions and de-activate this feature on the card, all of which requires the customer to bring this to their attention and chase in order for it to be completed. Amex is not proactively resolving this without customer initiation. This product is called Pay-Over-Time which holds a specific credit limit. Amex has a separate product called XXXX which shares the same credit limit as their Pay-Over-Time. On XX/XX/2022 I created a loan for on transaction using PlanIt. Amex 's underwriting and back office doesn't process and activate that loan until 30 days after the loan was initiated, in this case the loan was in effect until XX/XX/2022. On XX/XX/2022 I overpaid my Amex card and Amex automatically took my overpayment and paid off this XXXX loan in it's entirety. However they failed to update their system to show this loan was paid instead it's remained in a paid status until now. I'm unclear if Amex reports all their loans to the XXXX credit bureaus but I assume they do which would be a violation of the FCRA. In both circumstances I have brought this to Amex attention and it has taken them days to fix. They make excuses and constantly extend the communicated timeline for each product when it will be fixed. One day it's 24-48 hours, the next time it's 7-10 days. The next time it's 30 days. As of to date, Amex has not fixed either of this on my account. It's still in " work in progress status ''. Even if Amex resolves this, neither of these scenarios should have occurred. Amex does not have the right to force a product on a customer when they've actively and successfully de-activated the product. They also have a responsibility to post payments correctly and within standard IRS and Account Laws, which they have failed to do for my XXXX loan. Per Amex, this is " their '' process and a " standard working practice '' in both circumstances. Therefore I do not feel I'm the only customer impacted by this. These challenges appear to be predatory, purposeful, and deliberate on Amex 's part and someone needs to hold them to account.
