Consumer Complaint: In reference to CFPB XXXX XXXX : XXXX : American Express XXXX XXXX the transaction happened on XX/XX/XXXX, but this is false and proves that they are avoiding to credit my account. I have attached both the XXXX receipt and the email directly from American Express that gets sent to me once a purchase has been made. In both attachments, it clearly shows that the credit card was charged on XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Neither has any mention of XX/XX/2022 that American Express claims. I am really disappointed in that American Express admits in their response that the chat from XX/XX/XXXX they provided incorrect information and still will not honor what they trained their customer service representative to say.

Issue: Closing an account
Subissue: Funds not received from closed account
Consumer Complaint: My problem with American Express is that they closed my account and are refusing to issue the balance of that account due to security concerns. When asked about specific reasons or concerns the only answer I was able to receive from them after several attempts was that for the security of their bank and other customers they didnt need to give a reason or any explanation. While this was extremely frustrating, I then tried to recover the balance of the account. They said because of their concerns and reasons for closing the account, which they would not tell me, the only way I could recover the funds was to have the issuing bank the funds came from withdraw those deposits and put them back into the originating account. I still have an account with the issuing bank but they are unable to withdraw the money back from their end. I tried to have the two banks communicate but they would not communicate on a recorded line. American Express refuses to issue a check for the remaining balance. And now four months later I have still not been able to retrieve my remaining funds of that account. The account was opened by myself on or around XX/XX/XXXX and closed by American Express on or around XX/XX/XXXX. I do not have exact dates as they have blocked the online access to the closed account. I dont know what else to do and would appreciate any help you could offer me. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: Hello this is a feature of my American Express Serve debit card that I am supposed to be able to use, but for some reason has never worked for me. I tried XXXX XXXX at XXXX powered by XXXX multiple times, a feature of the Serve XXXX, and it says that they are unable to approve the transaction for some reason. I tried for lesser amounts, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, etc but all were " unable to be approved '' errors. This also happened today. I still don't understand why it doesn't work. I don't believe that I have reached any of the Serve limits described on the serve.com website, and my account has sufficient funds. This is very stressful and distressing to me and am having difficulty even getting to anywhere to try and purchase money orders somewhere, mail them, use a ATM machine and also have to deal with daily ATM limits and fees. I need to complete my important payment as soon as possible and for some reason nothing is working and am still having problems with everything. I have verified my identity with American Express Serve and attempted the Cash Pickup feature many times in multiple browsers and devices. I attempted to do a bank transfer from my Serve account with XXXX, and it was declined and my account " locked for security purposes '' while waiting for the bank account verification deposits on my Serve account, and I explained in the email this situation, but have not received any response yet. I have been having difficulties attempting to purchase money orders and getting any help at all from XXXX or Serve customer service.

Consumer Complaint: the card if my American Express business card. from time to time I am late on a payment. strictly because i get busy and forget. on my XX/XX/XXXX closing date, i was XXXX day late but paid in full. on my next statement i expect a late fee and some interest. I was late and I paid it. that would be the closing date of XX/XX/XXXX. note : this statement was paid on time and in full. on the XX/XX/XXXX closing date statement, i notice interest. I called, they said it was interest from the XXXX day late statement. back on XX/XX/XXXX. when you ask, they can not explain it. XX/XX/XXXX statement : XXXX day late. which will generate interest on the next statement. XX/XX/XXXX statement : late fee plus interest from XX/XX/XXXX statement. statement is paid in full. XX/XX/XXXX statement : has NO late fee but more interest from the XX/XX/XXXX XXXX day late. how and why : the XX/XX/XXXX statement that included the late fee and interest from the XX/XX/XXXX XXXX day late was paid in full. Hence that stops all interest. you are not charged interest if you pay your bill in full. now I dont care what the hidden rules state on the card. this bureau was set up to create fairness and protect consumers. I did not mind paying the late fee and interest on the XX/XX/XXXX statement. but if a person pays that statement in full and on time, the interest should stop. under this situation, when will the interest end???? where in my contract does it clearly state if you are late or fail to pay your balance in full, the interest will take XXXX, XXXX or XXXX statements to zero out. how do you zero out the interest? that needs to be crystal clear and it is not. this is a scam. and when i called, they can not answer the question. they can not show you in the card agreement where it states, it will take X months to zero out. and how does XXXX day late generate interest when the bill is paid in full? i understand it generates a late fee but not interest. your only suppose to pay interest if you carry a balance. the entire issue is very simple : how do you zero back out on the interest when you are paying your bill in full every month??????????

Consumer Complaint: I closed an American Express XXXX from XXXX 4 years ago with a XXXX balance. 2 months ago, I submitted a payment to another credit card using " bill pay '' option at my bank institution but submitted the payment XXXX XXXX XXXX to the closed account by mistake. I have contacted customer service on more than ten occasions. They can not " find '' the account and hence can not revert the payment to the payor, even providing the transaction number provided by the bank institution.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX has my money in a segregated account, as a financial planning feature ( known as a XXXX ). Balance in this XXXX cant be used by regular checking account activities. Because of a website failure, I cant move funds to the checking account segment to use them. I called Amex, and they claim theres no way to get me the money that the bank is holding in deposit for me. I called XXXX at about XXXX XX/XX/2023, on a call that lasted about 24 minutes. I first spoke to XXXX. She informed me there was no supervisor available and there was no way to get me my money.

Consumer Complaint: I made a payment to my credit card company in full for all charges posted on my account in the amount of {$3300.00} on XX/XX/XXXX which is one day late. payment should have been made on XX/XX/XXXX. I called and spoke to a rep and was told that all fees would be waived. Leaving a annual renewal fee of XXXX left on the card. I had previously called and spoke to a rep stating that I did not want the card renewed due to me getting another Amex in my name. Apparently, there is no record of that so I told the rep that I would pay the annual fee on my next billing statement. When my next billing statement arrived, I paid the XXXX annual charge, as well as a future rental car charge of {$130.00}. In total I paid {$380.00}. Which should have brought my account to a XXXX balance. Instead, I had a {$79.00} balance left on my card. I have called Amex several times each time I was told that the {$79.00} charge was due to different reasons XXXX was a late charge on {$7.00} dollar balance ( Which if true would have only brought the charge to {$47.00} XXXX was that I didn't pay the rental car bill in full which I also showed was not true and 3 was oh it must have come from interest which was supposed to have been waived when I made my {$3300.00} payment. Moreover, I pay balances in full on this account monthly I don't carry interest on this card. Lastly while an investigation is being conducted the amount in dispute is supposed to be frozen but instead I am being hit with late charges on money I do not owe. I have gone over all my charges line by line with the representatives and the dispute department, and they acknowledge that I have paid every charge I have ever put on the card and not one of them can pinpoint what the {$79.00} charge stims from. I am at beyond frustrated at this point and actually lost my temper on the last call. You can look at every payment I have ever made with this company, and you will find that I have always paid for charges I make on this card. I refuse to pay money I do not owe.

Consumer Complaint: American Express was notified to cancel the card and refund membership fee of {$690.00}, subsequently I elected to cancel card and representative said I had 60 days to seek refund. A new representative said the policy is now 30-days. This card is not in use and American Express has refused to give me a refund for the membership fee. American express is essentially charging for an annual membership fee which I have cancelled and not used.

Consumer Complaint: My XX/XX/2023 American Express credit card statement included a charge for {$1.00} for interest. I found out that this was " carried interest '' by calling customer service to ask why there was an interest charge when my prior month 's statement was paid XXXX full and here were no purchases during the current billing statement. The agent told me that carried interest is applied for 2 months after the card is paid in full. This seems unfair and greedy. The agent told me that there was an explanation of carried interest on my XXXX statement. I looked at it and read it back to him. I told him that there is no mention of the 2 month period in the statement. He agreed. He also agreed, at the beginning of my call, to waive the interest. I don't know if this practice is allowed by law but the statement should be complete. Otherwise it is not informative of the terms. Here is a copy of the description of carried interest in the credit card statement : " About Trailing Interest *Indicates posting date You XXXX see interest on your next statement even if you pay the new balance in full and on time and make no new charges. This is called " trailing interest ''. Trailing interest is the interest charged when, for example, you didn't pay your previous balance in full. When that happens, we charge interest from the first day of the billing period until we receive your payment in full. You can avoid paying interest on purchases by paying your balance in full ( or if you have a XXXX balance, by paying your XXXX XXXX on your billing statement ) by the due date each month. Please see the " When we charge interest '' sub-section in your XXXX XXXX for details. ''
