Consumer Complaint: American Express offered me a new card, a XXXX credit line, and no interest for 18 months. I accepted. Charged XXXX to the card. Am Ex immediately canceled the card, requested payment in full, and locked my other two AmEx cards until I paid the balance, which has nothing to do with my other cards ... .... After paying off the XXXX, which was demanded immediately, unlike the original offer, they increased my available credit on another card I have with 20 % + interest. Bait and switch at its finest. Offer credit, take it away, require immediate payment and then offer credit at 20 % +. This has got to be an absolute dishonest practices at best, illegal according to the Attorney I have contacted.

Consumer Complaint: American Express and its representative are continuously showing no regard to the law and my right to privacy. They are telling me that their policy overrules the law. They are committing language fraud with misleading facts and giving their false interpretation of the law. They have caused and are still causing me defamation of character by illegally reporting information that should not be on my consumer report and misleading me and refusing to remove it. They are telling me that I have no right to privacy, and they are knowingly reporting income on my consumer report. Their said in your response As of XX/XX/2023, were reporting the account as an unpaid charged off account. According to the IRS ( Internal Revenue Service ) publication irs.gov, a charged-off is a certificate of indebtedness which goes along with a 1099c The Cancelation of Debt. It is considered to be income, and you know very well that income can not be reported on a consumer report. Proper procedures must be followed to ensure accurate reporting 15 U.S. Code 1681e. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, require that they report their information data sharing practices, as well as provide me with information and the right to opt out of data sharing with 3rd party non-affiliate agencies, like XXXX, XXXX as well as XXXX, or any other not listed here. It is also your responsibility to make sure that it is presented in a clear and conspicuous manner. They are in violation of this Act as they just admitted this, in your response that is attached. Furthermore in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 I have the right to privacy that they are trying to deny me. 15 U.S. Code 1681s2 - Responsibilities of furnishers of information to consumer reporting agencies ( a ) Duty of furnishers of information to provide accurate information ( 1 ) Prohibition ( A ) Reporting information with actual knowledge of errors A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. ( B ) Reporting information after notice and confirmation of errors A person shall not furnish information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if ( i ) the person has been notified by the consumer, at the address specified by the person for such notices, that specific information is inaccurate; and ( ii ) the information is, in fact, inaccurate. 15 U.S. Code 1681a - Definitions ; rules of construction ( 2 ) Exclusions.Except as provided in paragraph ( 3 ), the term consumer report does not include ( A ) subject to section 1681s3 of this title, any ( i ) report containing information solely as to transactions or experiences between the consumer and the person making the report ;

Consumer Complaint: I received two American Express Prepaid Business Gift Cards from my job as part of a holiday bonus. They're described as being able to be used the same as any credit card in store or online, but I have not been able to claim them on any websites I've tried, from big brands like XXXX to using them as donations for local charities. Their website options simply say to keep trying or try different stores, but I want to be able to use them as advertised anywhere.

Consumer Complaint: I received a {$500.00} American Express gift card from my employer as a gift & literally everywhere I try to use it online & in person the card gets declined yet it still has the {$500.00} on it. The only thing American Express doesn't decline is the tiny verification fees of adding the card details to an account/app of course that they leave pending forever & don't get back. So I'm stuck with a {$500.00} American Express Gift card that literally gets declined everywhere & I can't use at all. What makes this even more annoying is that American Express & their Amex Gift cards claim to be usable anywhere with the false advertising yet its literally getting declined everywhere, like how are you going to decline the card that clearly is activated & has plenty of money on it yet theyre only responses are to " check you have sufficient funds ''.

Issue: Problem with a purchase or transfer
Subissue: Card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase or transfer
Consumer Complaint: I received a pre-paid Amex gift card on XX/XX/XXXX for {$100.00}. I tried to use the gift card online and in person at two different vendors- XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( on line ) and on XX/XX/XXXX ( in person ) and XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX ( on line ) - both of which say they accept Amex as a form of payment. I ensured the purchase amounts did not exceed the remaining balance on the card. Each time I tried to use the card, I received a declination message from the vendor, and a {$0.00} transaction fee charged to the card. Amex website now shows the active card balance of {$99.00} as a result of these transaction fees. I called Amex customer service, and the representative stated these two vendors do not accept Amex gift cards at this time, which is not in line with the vendor policy of accepting Amex as a form of payment.

Consumer Complaint: I applied and was approved for the American Express Hilton Aspire card. They had advertised XXXX bonus points once approved with a minimum spend. After I reached the minimum spend and was not compensated I messaged them. They said I was not eligible for it ( they did not disclose this after I was approved ) Extremely misleading especially for a card with such a high annual fee. I had never applied for this card before and have received a bonus from another American express card but it was the platinum card.

Consumer Complaint: I received a {$2000.00} prepaid American Express e-gift card in XX/XX/XXXX. I have tried to use the card several times and am unable to use it anywhere. I have been unable to spend any of the {$2000.00}. I have tried : Paying a {$310.00} medical bill to XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX - declined ( XX/XX/XXXX ) Buying a {$22.00} picture frame on XXXX - declined ( XX/XX/XXXX ) Buying a {$130.00} bag of dog food from XXXX - declined ( XX/XX/XXXX ) Purchasing a {$200.00} XXXX gift card from XXXX - declined ( XX/XX/XXXX ) Purchasing a {$25.00} XXXX gift card from XXXX - declined ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I called the customer service line since I haven't been able to spend the card anywhere. I was told that the card did not work at all retailers. I asked where it did work and they were unable to tell me any locations where it was accepted. They told me to use it physically in stores ; however, this is an e-gift card and will not be accepted in physical retail locations. This is a significant amount of money and I do not want to keep trying to spend it at various places just to have the card continue to be rejected. This card is useless to me at this point.
