Issue: Getting a credit card
Subissue: Application denied
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XX/XX/2023 i applied for an Amax card. the reference number is : XXXX I tried to call American Express XXXX and the rep was very rude and would not give me a supervisor. With that being said my issue at hand is to the decision and reasoning for my denial to access my securities. I understand that there is a 3ed party who gave your company a XXXX score and this is the reason for denying me. Regardless of the reason i was denied i understand and im not concerned with that. I have the right to credit and that right was declined. I am trying to access my securities and my right to credit has been denied. As i sit here and i read the equal credit opportunity act i realize that its discrimination to deny me access to my credit or securities ( 12 cfr 1002.4 ). Withholding me access to my securities is Securities Fraud. American Express American Express is violating the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Consumer Protection Credit Act. Since you are denying me my credit, please retract my application or do a review of my application accordingly. Thank You By XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I bought a prepaid American Express gift card for {$310.00}. I paid the extra {$5.00} fee, so that was {$310.00}. I called to activate it, and attempted to use it multiple times. Very shortly after, it had two major payments used that werent me. I called and asked for a check refund several times, or a replacement card. I bought this gift card from my local XXXX, and have had issues with my money being stolen off my card before. I never used any of the money on this card, and it was entirely stolen by American Express. I called several times to get answers, and they had no explanations. I was put on hold for hours at a time. Im just looking for a reimbursement check.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to dispute the adverse action taken in my credit report and to request that you review the accounts through which I have extended credit. I believe there may be a misunderstanding about my rights and the laws governing credit transactions. As an original cardholder and holder in due course, I am exercising my right to initiate a consumer credit transaction with your company. In accordance with federal law, particularly 15 USC 1602, a credit card encompasses any device used to obtain credit, which I have been granted by your corporation. I am fully aware of my rights as a consumer, and credit is a right afforded to me by a creditor, as per 15 USC 1602 ( f ). Reporting to a consumer reporting agency is voluntary, as stipulated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ). I have not derived any benefit from the use of my credit. In fact, the denial of my right to extend credit has caused me both mental and financial distress. There are no federal laws that state a credit score can deny me my right to extend credit, yet the company appears to be overly concerned about my credit score. I would like to address the issue of discrimination against an applicant, as such a practice in a credit transaction is deemed unlawful under 15 USC 1691 ( a ). I kindly request that your company reevaluates this matter and ensures compliance with federal laws. It is imperative that you open the accounts through which I have extended credit and rectify the adverse action taken in my credit report. I take my consumer report and credit-related matters very seriously, and I sincerely hope that this matter can be resolved promptly and amicably. Failing to address this dispute properly may necessitate further legal action. I appreciate your immediate attention to this matter. I kindly request a timely response and a resolution to this issue. Sincerely, By : XXXX XXXX XXXX in fact. For : XXXX / REF # : XXXX ( WITHOUT RECOURSE ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ) 12 U.S Code 192 12 USC 411 UCC 3-419 UCC 1-308 HJR-192

Consumer Complaint: My American Express Statement closing XXXX XXXX had a closing statement balance of {$9500.00} that was due on XXXX XXXX to avoid an interest charge. I made a payment of {$9600.00} using a XXXX balance transfer check. This payment was posted to my XXXX account on XXXX XXXX, one day prior to the America express due date of XXXX XXXX. When I received my American Express Statement closing XXXX XXXX, I had an interest charge of {$300.00} for the XXXX closing amount. My XXXX payment was not posted to my American Express account until XXXX XXXX, one day after the due date that would have avoided the interest charge, even though American Express processed my payment to XXXX on XXXX XXXX. In addition, on my AMEX statement closing on XXXX XXXX, there was an additional interest charge of {$200.00}, even though my balance due had been paid in full. I've had several discussions with American Express in XXXX and XXXX to waive the interest charge, but they have denied my request.

Consumer Complaint: My Uncle bought me a {$100.00} Amex gift card which costs $ XXXX XXXX and change activation fee. As soon as it was activated an hour later the card was used in several locations from an unauthorized user, one of the merchants being mid journey. Keep in mind I received the card hours later it was used and opened it up from the package a week later to find out that there was {$9.00} and change left. I called Amex and explained the situation to them and they looked into the case and said they will email the determination of the dispute/case. The response Email I received back only said your funds from the merchant couldnt be salvaged, we are sending you a card back with {$10.00} on it. Obviously I called Amex back and they told me that they cant do anything because they werent able to salvage the funds from the merchant. I asked them to confirm if it was a fraudulent case and from where did it occur and they gave me no detail.

Consumer Complaint: I had an AMEX credit card shared with my son. He does work on my house and I needed him to be able to purchase materials. I haven't used the card in a while and in XXXX, I got an 'Important " email stating that if I didn't use my card, they would close it in 90 days. The statement was friendly and had a bolded area of what I should do if I chose to let it close. Just destroy cards and notify anyone with the account. I never expected my credit score and my son 's to take a big hit. My score went down by XXXX and my son 's XXXX went down by XXXX points, on the day it took effect. I've discussed this with AMEX customer service that told me to call 'AMEX Credit Bureau Unit ', who tells me to call customer service. AMEX keeps telling me to call the credit bureau but I know they can't change what's reported. My issue is, AMEX should have had a professional responsibility to warn me that the " line of credit ' I held with them would directly reduce my 'available credit '. With all the efforts out there costing ppl to repair their credit score, as a consumer, no effort was made to warn me. Any consumer would've 100 % made a purchase to keep that level of available credit. I had no idea. I casually thought it was just a " XXXX '' balance credit card that wouldn't make a difference. AMEX refuse to reinstate the card and understanding that, this shouldn't happen to anyone else. I'm asking for consumers to be better informed by the financial institutions. AMEX completely disassociated themselves with any knowledge of factors impacting credit scores. I'm so sorry I did this to my son. We all work so hard for a good credit rating, yet there's no protection ( info ) required from a credit card company that could've saved me. I only had to make a purchase.
