Consumer Complaint: I received an inquiry on my credit report on XX/XX/23 from American Express. I have never applied for an American Express card, therefore this must be fraudulent. On XX/XX/23 I received an email that say " Your credit card is approved. '' But again I have never applied nor have an American Express card. I have already alerted the credit bureaus that was told I need to first file a police or FTC report or else the inquiry will remain.

Consumer Complaint: In my previous CFPB complaint XXXX, I asked a question that I was told by American Express representative that I can now only redeem my American Express reward points to gift cards, I can not redeem them in other ways such as transferring to partnership airline award programs. I believe I should still have the opportunity to redeem my remaining reward point via transferring to a pre-established partnership airline award program, or other methods other than gift card redemption. I have more than XXXX points in total to redeem, I want to transfer these points to XXXX XXXX points that i have pre-established the transfer before. However, I was told I can not redeem this way, only option i have is Gift card redemption. American express closed the complaint without providing answer to this question.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, there is an unauthorized inquiry from American Express on my XXXX XXXX credit report. Let it be clear, I DID NOT APPLY for an American Express card! Nor did I receive any letter from American Express. XXXX XXXX illegally and negligently simply refuses to remove this inquiry yet it has been confirmed it needs to be eliminated off my credit report. This is the FOURTH TIME I am addressing American Express EGRIOUS NEGLIGENCE! After the XX/XX/XXXX CFPB complaint, I received letters dated XX/XX/XXXX from American Express stating that my application may have been declined in error. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. What does American Express not understand? I DID NOT APPLY FOR AN AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD! Any application American Express received was unauthorized.

Consumer Complaint: Around XX/XX/2023, I opened an account with American Express for a new American Express Platinum Card ( " Card '' ). As a promotion, American Express offered and I accepted a sign-up bonus ( of receiving XXXX Membership Rewards ) contingent on spending at least {$6000.00} on eligible purchases in the first 6 months. On XX/XX/2023, I used the Card to make a purchase through XXXX for a payment to the IRS in the amount of {$6400.00} ( " IRS Payment '' ), and was charged a fee of {$110.00} as a convenience fee. I was aware of the convenience fee and have no problem with it. On the FAQ pages for XXXX, it is stated that a " tax payment will be treated as a retail purchase ''. With this purchase, I satisfied the condition for receiving the sign-up bonus as explained above. Concerned that the sign-up rewards had not posted by XXXX, I reached out to American Express representatives on XX/XX/2023, via an online chat function. The representative informed me that the IRS Payment constituted " other cash equivalents '' and thus ineligible as a purchase that counts towards the sign-up bonus. After explaining that the website very clearly states the tax payments are processed as a " retail purchase '', the representative escalated the matter and filed an internal ticket. Having received no updates, I reached out again to American Express by the online chat function on XX/XX/2023. XXXX representative explained that the case was reviewed but American Express had decided " no further action [ was ] required ''. I explained again that the IRS Payment was processed as a retail purchase to no avail. I was referred to another representative who informed me that escalating the matter again would yield the same result. I explained my next step would be to file a CFPB complaint. American Express 's Cardmember Agreement specifically provides that " [ a ] cash advance is a charge to get cash or cash equivalents '', with cash advances incurring additional fees. The Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions also clarify as ineligible purchases " Cash advances and cash equivalents '' for which no reward points are awarded. Notwithstanding such definitions and terms, the IRS Payment did in fact earn XXXX rewards points ( i.e., American did not treat it as a cash equivalent purchase ), and the IRS Payment did not incur any charges relating to cash advances ( i.e., American did not treat it as a cash equivalent purchase ). For some reason, when it comes to having to grant to a cardholder the widely advertised benefit of obtaining the sign-up bonus, American Express decided the IRS Payment is deemed a cash equivalent purchase. That is, American Express purposely and deceptively miscategorized the IRS Payment.

Consumer Complaint: I opened this a Bluebird prepaid debit account in XX/XX/XXXX. My account shows a negative balance. I contacted customer service at XXXX. I was told that charges went through my account from XXXX and I had to contact them for a refund. I asked how the charges could have been posted to my account when there was not money to pay the charge. The answer was never clear to me. One reason put forth that there was money in the account when the charges were first pending. This is not true. The account balance was {$6.00} as of XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX charges were posted against the account in the amounts of {$4.00}, {$18.00} and {$13.00}. Another reason was that Bluebird has an agreement with XXXX to allow charges when there is not money in the account, but the dispute resolution representative, XXXX was unable to direct me to a list of vendors that have this agreement. I was told I was responsible for the charges. I have reviewed the Membership Agreement available online. Pursuant to paragraph 16 ( a ) : I am not allowed to expend funds in excess of the available funds in the account and it further states that if a transaction occurs, I am liable. This is a prepaid card, not a debit or credit card. This was not a case of two transactions happening in close proximity. There is no reason those transactions should have been allowed to process. Please explain to me why transactions are posted to an account on a prepaid card without money to pay the charge. This is completely deceptive.

Consumer Complaint: I tried cancelling my Delta gold card the other day because of the annual fee and I was talked into doing a product change to a no annual fee version instead. I cancelled within 30 days of the original fee posting, yet I see I was not credited the full amount. Amex is not honoring it's own policy that allows you to get a full refund of your annual fee if you cancel your card within 30 days of the fee posting.
