Consumer Complaint: XXXX was filed against AMEX for fraudulently adding unauthorized transactions back to accounts that were already closed by me and evidenced as acceptable by them with {$0.00} balance closing account statements. They have then proceeded to destroy my pristine credit record that I have built over 30 years. I can not do anything financially now and everyone looks at me like I am a deadbeat. All of the rest of my credit record is pristine but I refuse to pay the fraudulent charges from AMEX so they are ruining me. Why are you letting them do this? Please get this mess straightened out. Consumer Complaint: American express failed to accept documentation that demonstrated I am a victim of identity theft. They have damaged my credit but I can live with that. The problem has become larger now that Ameeican Express has sold the debt to a third party but continues to report that I owe them. Companies are not allowed to double dip and the FTC will need to get involved to mediate in this illegal act. Companies like American Express need to be held accountable to the damage they have caused innocent consumers.

Consumer Complaint: I have a platinum American Express credit card, which it doesn't have spending limit. I have been making sure that I pay the card large amounts so that I can keep the good records and I have been making automatic payments of {$500.00} every months, plus large payments of {$1000.00} or more. For example my recent last large payment was {$11000.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. So far everything was fine, until the last statement, that the the minimum payment became the whole statement balance of {$7800.00} as I had two large charges related to my dad 's funeral. I called to arrange a pay over time deal with them. But the next day I saw that the automatic payment has been triggered and it is set for the whole statement balance of {$7800.00}. I called multiple times to get it fixed and I only received run around and fake resolutions, telling me that they have fixed it. Eventually, AMX tried three times to withdraw this large payment from my XXXX XXXX XXXX and it messed up all my other bill payments that were supposed to be withdrawn from my XXXX account as it was negative. I am very unhappy with the customer service who caused this problem and now my record in their system is showing that my payment was returned due to insufficient funds, while I didn't authorize this large payment and it was purely customer service issue. Now, I am showing late on the payment that I didn't set up to pay and this is not my fault.

Consumer Complaint: XXXX Original complaint reference number that has not been resolved and no actions have been taken by the CFPB to date?? I rented a car in XXXX, TN with XXXX XXXX and had to take the car to the XXXX XXXX XXXX to catch a plane back home because there were no cars available to take me to XXXX within 120 miles from XXXX. The rental company, XXXX XXXX, charged my credit car four times for the same rental. The original rental rate was {$100.00} for a one day rental, but XXXX XXXX said that I was liable for everyday the rental car was not returned to them. I paid the one day rental of {$100.00}, then paid twice more for days that I did not have the car and XXXX XXXX says they incurred a loss. I have paid {$360.00} total for a one day rental and XXXX XXXX also charged me another $ XXXX on the same day for a second rental on the same day that I have paid included in the {$360.00} rental charges. It is not possible that I am liable for two cars on the same day, right? XXXX XXXX will not remove the charge ( s ) or resolve my dispute amicably and American Express has refused to get documentation from XXXX XXXX to prove that they incurred lost money because of the returned car, especially for two rentals on the same date. I am furious that credit card companies are responsible for settling disputes because they do little to verify the veracity of the evidence in the dispute. XXXX XXXX is intentionally be abusive, punitive and excessive without any proof of actual harm and without merit.

Consumer Complaint: American Express does not treat their loyal customers fair. I have been a credit card holder with them since 2019. My bank return payment because no money was in my account. That's my fault. However, instead of just submitting the payment once, AMEX attempts to reissue payment requests two more times. Then they charge me {$29.00} Return Fee. First of all, they should not charge a return fee because it costs them nothing! And, they should stop after the first attempt fails. My other credit card charges no fees for this. I have been a credit card holder of XXXX XXXX less than 6 months and they treat me better than AMEX. They use to be understanding, but not anymore. My opinion, they are all about money and not customer centric! I have grown to hate AMEX. Because they treat their customers horribly! I request that they reverse the 3 return fee payments. Consumer Complaint: Subject : Complaint Against American Express for Failure to Protect Consumer Rights Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to file a formal complaint against American Express regarding their handling of multiple disputes I filed in XXXX XXXX XXXX. I am deeply disappointed with the manner in which American Express has disregarded my consumer rights and failed to assist me in recovering funds that were fraudulently obtained from me. In XX/XX/2019, I promptly reported several charges made by a fraudulent company to American Express, explaining the situation and seeking their assistance in recovering my funds. I provided substantial evidence to support my claims, including emails from the company admitting their fraudulent activities, text messages, incomplete credit card refund receipts issued by the merchant acknowledging refunds were due, and highlighted messages in which the merchant himself instructed me to initiate chargebacks to reclaim my funds. Furthermore, I even presented evidence of the merchant 's threats to sell the purchased items to others in order to coerce me into sending additional money. Despite my efforts and the abundance of evidence provided, American Express neglected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. Instead, they chose to violate my consumer rights by shifting the focus onto me, an esteemed customer who has spent over {$10.00} XXXX using their cards over the past few years, without ever having encountered a single incident. Regrettably, American Express deemed me as the " bad guy '' in this situation and prematurely closed the cases against me, thereby allowing the fraudster to continue their illicit activities unhindered. When I reached out to American Express to understand why the merchant consistently won these cases, their response was disheartening. They simply stated that they could not judge the merit of the case. Meanwhile, they permitted the merchant to employ outdated tracking numbers that did not align with the purchase dates. Furthermore, the same tracking numbers were utilized for multiple cases with varying dates, and the merchant even provided tracking information indicating that a mere XXXX package was shipped, despite the corresponding invoices clearly indicating the purchase of items exceeding XXXX pounds or more. Regardless of the numerous instances in which I pointed out these obvious manipulations by the merchant, American Express chose to persistently disregard my rights and neglected to protect me, their valued customer. In the face of American Express ' refusal to address these grievances through chargebacks, I followed their advice and pursued litigation to resolve the matter. In a federal court, I successfully proved that I never received the purchased items, and a seven-member jury found the scammers guilty of breach of contract for their failure to deliver the merchandise. Additionally, they were convicted of fraud. Armed with this conclusive evidence, I returned to American Express with the court 's verdict and requested that they reopen the chargebacks. However, once again, American Express chose to violate my rights by refusing to honor my claims. Therefore, I demand that American Express reopen my chargebacks immediately and, this time, acknowledge and honor the jury 's verdict. It is only just and fair that American Express rectifies their previous disregard for my consumer rights and acts in accordance with the evidence and legal findings presented in a federal court. I kindly request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau conducts a thorough investigation into this matter, holding American Express accountable for their negligent and unjust treatment of consumers. I trust that your agency will take appropriate action to ensure that such disregard for consumer rights does not recur in the future. I have enclosed copies of relevant documents and evidence supporting my claims. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information or clarification. Consumer Complaint: At the time, I had several credit cards with American Express. Their mobile app didn't specify whether the auto pay was set up for one card or all cards. I have set it up and thought it was for all cards. To be sure, I asked a representative via online chat whether my auto pay was successfully set up ( on or around XX/XX/XXXX since it's my due date ), and the representative didn't tell me it actually wasn't set up. So, I thought the payment should already go through on XX/XX/XXXX. I also already prepared enough money to pay in my linked checking account. However, when I found out the payment wasn't processed, it was already late even though I immediately paid the total balance on the next day XXXX. I was worried so much and asked an online representative exactly in words " how much is the interest for my case '' ( I thought there was only interest not knowing about the late fee for this late by 1 day payment. ) ( This conversation is attached. ) The representative said, " I calculated for 6 days and the estimate is : {$17.00} ''. I then asked why it is for 6 days and asked for what if for 1 day. She said I could calculate myself, then I just ended the chat. So, I think that the late charge is approximately less than {$17.00} and it actually feels not that bad. On XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX, I saw that the late fee of {$29.00} was posted and I was actually feeling somewhat fooled since the charge is somewhat higher than what the representative estimated. But I still just called American Express and explained to them that I only paid late for 1 day, and it was because I was given the wrong information by their representatives about my auto pay. I made about XXXX calls and my request was finally accepted. When I saw the email about this approval, I thought the case has finally been solved and over. I would never think at that time that on XX/XX/XXXX, I was charged for a second time for {$77.00}. Just to be clear, it was never mentioned when I argued with them about the late fee of {$29.00} and I almost went crazy after seeing this. I totally felt fooled. To me, if reasonable, they could just tell me that there will be another {$77.00} charged and said if they waived the {$29.00}, the {$77.00} wouldn't be possibly waived and maybe let me choose an option. However, they said nothing about that but just treated me like a fool. I have called American Express for at least more than 1 hour now, but they just said if they submit the request for credit, it wouldn't be approved. In one of the calls, the person even told me that I could actually be waived either of the two charges, but since the {$29.00} was already waived, it was the only way. I mean excuse me no one told me about the second charge and I was never informed properly by American Express in the whole process! I don't believe they couldn't do anything to properly help me and I also can't believe that a late payment for 1 day could be charged XXXX dollars. I really feel why not just steal from me for the money, but let me go through all of this.
