Consumer Complaint: I have XXXX {$100.00} American Express gift cards that I've been trying to use and they continue to be declined. I've tried paying bills, purchasing gift cards online, using the cards for payment for online purchases. I've checked the balances on all XXXX cards, and they have {$100.00} each on them. I've gone online and tried to get support from the AMEX folks, no way to do that. I'm very frustrated.

Consumer Complaint: American Express Bank illegally and incorrectly reported a payment as late ( Specifically back in XXXX of XXXX ). As per the terms of the Cares Act, their representatives misadvised that I would only be eligible to receive any payment relief/assistance programs/offers if I showed signs of hardship ( Missed Payments ) despite my reaching out to them ahead of being late on any payments to let them know that financial hardship was on the horizon. Under the sanctions of the Cares Act, this is seen as misconduct, misinformation, and unethical behavior. Essentially, I was forced to be late on the payment without assistance. In XXXX, American Express provided a blanket response that not only avoided my question but also was a blatant attempt to circumvent my initial acquisition and issue. Based on American Express 's response to this matter, they have acted with wanton disregard for my safety and the overall long-term well-being of myself and my family.

Consumer Complaint: I received an Amex gift card as a gift from work. I tried to use the card in XXXX, XXXX, on XXXX, in supermarket. It doesn't work anywhere. I called up the number to get help. They pretended it was the first time they had heard anything like this. The call center in XXXX said they could not help as they only sell the cards they don't help to use them. I was told to call a different number, but there is no different number. They couldn't give me a different number, and there is nothing on the site. I tired 3 times but made no progress. I think the card is a scam, and that is how they make money.

Consumer Complaint: When I opened an American Express charge card, XXXX of the " perks '' was an American Express XXXX Savings Account, at AMEX BANK XXXX XXXX and every time the card was used, AX would deposit 1 % of the purchases into the account, that back then was 5.00 % APY. I opened the card in XXXX and closed it this year in XXXX, after I was told by the XXXX XXXX in XXXX that it is considered a " white '' American Express and I was unable to use it there. This past weekend I was clearing out data and found the attached. After numerous attempts to log in online, I phoned American Express who said they didn't have any record of me having an account and the money isn't with the state or IRS, so where did it go? American Express robbed me and numerous others with what appears to be bogus.

I am deeply concerned about potential violations of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act ( ECOA ), the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), and the unauthorized use of my Social Security information, which may implicate provisions of the Social Security Act. Under the ECOA, discrimination in credit decisions based on certain factors is strictly prohibited. If my Social Security information was used without my permission or if false advertising practices were involved, I want to bring to your attention that this could be in violation of the Social Security Act. Here is why I would not recommend either of these companies : On XX/XX/2023 I signed up for the American Express XXXX XXXX card with a XXXX points SUB after spending $ XXXX in XXXX months and a no annual fee. On XX/XX/XXXX I reached the spending requirement. On XX/XX/XXXX I reached out to American Express and XXXX XXXX asking when I could expect to receive the points. The rep. at Amex told me that they had transferred the points to XXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX and on XXXX XXXX they were transferred and accpeted by XXXX XXXX. On XXXX XXXX I again spoke in a three-way conversation with Amex. and XXXX XXXX confirming that the points had been transferred to XXXX XXXX. The XXXX XXXX rep submitted a Loyalty case and said the points should be posted to my XXXX account soon. XX/XX/XXXX I once again called XXXX about the Loyalty case and the rep. said they were still working on it. On XXXX XXXX I spoke with Amex. XXXX who said to check with XXXX on XXXX XXXX and the points should be posted soon. On XXXX XXXX I spoke with XXXX and was told that I should receive the points by the end of the day or the next. I was also told that they had received approval from their corporate office on XXXX XXXX for the XXXX points. On XXXX XXXX I spoke to someone named XXXX at XXXX corporate office and she said she was sending info to another dept and it was still in progress and she did not know why they had not been posted yet. On XXXX XXXX I spoke with someone from XXXX XXXX Assistance and they are requesting an update as the case is still in progress and that I would receive an email to that effect. As of today, XXXX XXXX, I still have not heard from anyone nor received the points. I believe there are better options out there for hotel points.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I used XXXX by American Express to routinely pull 3-bureau credit reports. After generating this, I found that American Express seemingly had put my account into collection status with XXXX and XXXX. The trouble is that this is not true at all since I have never once been late with a payment since XXXX -- - nearly XXXX years ago. I called American Express which gave me the royal runaround on XX/XX/XXXX and again on XX/XX/XXXX. I then called XXXX by American Express in the afternoon of XX/XX/XXXX to inquire about all this. I was informed by American Express on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX that they could find no evidence that my account was ever in collection status. Then XXXX by American Express on XX/XX/XXXX acknowledged that their systems were faulty and due to some nebulous programming error on their end giving consumers incorrect information. In fact, they said I was not the first consumer to report this issue. Further, they had no idea when it would be fixed. I let both entities know I would be reporting this to the CFPB this evening. My request is that the CFPB investigate this matter for me and any similarly situated consumer who may complain. I request that you impose civil monetary penalties against both American Express and XXXX by American Express for every affected consumer. I also ask that the CFPB issue orders compelling both American Express and CreditSecure by American Express to fix the issue on behalf of all affected consumers without undue delay.
