Consumer Complaint: First I bank with Wells Fargo. As I tell the story all I hear is horrible things about Wells Fargo. First someone stole my information and tried to use my card and Wells Fargo called me to ask if it was me. It was not. They sent out a new card. A week later I received another call from Wells Fargo, or what I thought was Wells Fargo. I was on the phone with them and some things didn't feel right, but they kept send the verification texts with the codes on them, so I thought it was them. They said they were going to send out a new card. On XX/XX/year> I got another call from Wells Fargo asking if I am making purchases in New York. Ive never been to New York, I was on the XXXX story of a new job in XXXX, California. The people stole my info, got money out of XXXX at Wells Fargo and bought shoes at a store in New York. Im watching the transactions happen while I was on the building. As I talked to the Wells Fargo staff, I didn't have my card because they said it was not working. In all they stole XXXX from my checking account. A week later I received a letter saying my claim was denied to get my money back, and what's worse is that these crooks had a debt card sent to there apartment in New York. I did my research and the card number they used I never received, because it was sent to New York. I called the Fraud center and told them that I never received that card. That I never been to New York and that was not me making those purchases. Also why did Wells Fargo send a card to a state I have never been to nor never lived at. Why would they not call me again and ask if I wanted a card sent to New York. They said that they would do a call review. They would let me know in XXXX hours. I call back a week later and they said that they have not reviewed it and that it would take 10 days. I called back a week later and they said that the claim was still denied, that they could not prove it was not me making those purchases. I asked to talk to the manager and they seemed convinced that it was me. I asked is legal action my next step and they said yes. My friend at work told me about cfpb. We aren't rich, so that XXXX was a big hit. I am just hoping to get this resolved and get my money back.

Consumer Complaint: Wells Fargo has been mailng mediation request forms pertaining to unauthorized accounts opened by Wells Fargo reps for several months ... I've filled out and returned a total of XXXX or more so far, acknowledgment letters are received, provided tracking numbers including XXXX, XXXX, XXXX is the most recent one dated XXXX When I initially called number on letter XXXX, I was told call will be disconnected, referred to prior mediation, tracking id XXXX, in which case, no payment received from that mediation.. payment sent to an old address after I moved, no proof of address verification provided. I've called most recently, told all mediation efforts have been exhausted which refers to prior mediation, no payment received as stated prior. The call was regarding the last tracking number, XXXX As the CFPB can see, these mediation request forms are a mere run around, future forms will be refused.. I request the CFPB look into this behavior, fine Wells Fargo for opening unauthorized accounts in my name including account ending in XXXX, a checking account and most recently, a Jewelry account, Designs By XXXX. Wells Fargo was previously fined by CFPB for handling of accounts such as ones named here, has little to no credibility.

Issue: Getting a credit card

Subissue: Application denied

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/24- received an alert from experian stating that my credit report had changed. It showed that my credit was run by Wells Fargo credit card services. I soon after received a phone call from Wells Fargo application fraud about this. Someone had attempted to open a card in my name, without my knowledge. Wells Fargo did deny the application and put in to remove the inquiry from my credit report. I have had 2 other similar situations happen with XXXX XXXX, which I have filed a separate claim about. I spoke to experian and they urged me to report this activity through FTC/police. They also removed inquiries from my credit report in regards to Wells Fargo and XXXX XXXX.

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: wF provided fraudulent data to creditors to justify illegal activity. Its showing I opted out in 2019 of my credit card reporting NEVER past due for my WF credit card account. I never even knew opt out was an option until this year. Wells Fargo has been illegally covering their fraudulent ways to justify closing two of my cards with them. I saw this on XXXX credit reporting and never knew this happened. Why wouldnt I want to show positive credit report history on my accounts? It doesnt make sense to opt out of a card that is in a great standing. Please once again CFPB please look into this. Like I mentioned before I have done business with this company since it was called Wachovia and they should be ashamed. And my phone number they have listed is inaccurate and like I stated I had them since they was called Wachovia this was a blsntdbt behind the scenes racketeering attempt to sabatoge my credit on purpose to give purpose behind them closing my accounts

Issue: Closing an account

Subissue: Funds not received from closed account

Consumer Complaint: I received two emails from Wells Fargo Bank on XX/XX/XXXX, regarding my joint checking and savings accounts, advising that Wells Fargo Bank was closing my accounts because of a deposit of one or more checks payable to a person not on the accounts ( i.e. third- party check ). Wells Fargo advised they would close my accounts by XX/XX/XXXX. When we went to the bank this morning regarding the email below, we were just advised the same information as the email verbiage. I don't understand why I am not able to access any of my funds when I don't know what Wells Fargo is talking about regarding funds from a 3rd party, I don't know is attempting to deposit funds into my account. About {$2500.00} of my funds are currently in the account and my spouses Social Security XXXX funds ( another {$2400.00} ) will be unfortunately deposited into that same Wells Fargo account since we were unable to update her direct deposit information in time to avoid being deposited into that Wells Fargo account. So, a total estimate of about {$5900.00} is being held by my Well Fargo Bank branch. Below is the XX/XX/XXXX, email notification I received from Wells Fargo notifying me that my bank accounts will be closed, and my funds are on hold until they decide to release those funds to me. XX/XX/XXXX Wells Fargo email : Wells Fargo performs ongoing reviews of its account relationships in connection with the Banks responsibilities to manage risks in its banking operations. We recently reviewed your account relationship, and as a result of this review, we will be closing your above referenced accounts because of the deposit of one or more checks payable to persons not on this account ( i.e., third party checks ). The accounts are expected to close by XX/XX/XXXX. Please note that the Bank reserves the right to close the accounts sooner if circumstances arise that warrant an earlier closing. Be aware that some circumstances XXXXay delay the closure of your accounts. To learn more, refer below to " What may delay account closure? '' Please review the following important information to help you prepare for this transition. What this means for the accounts listed above as of the date of this letter : Deposits have been blocked. If you have recurring deposits ( for example, your paycheck or pension ), please redirect the deposits to a non-Wells Fargo account. If your account balance is or becomes negative and you would like to make a covering deposit or transfer, contact XXXX to arrange for the temporary ability to make a deposit. Withdrawals and payments have been blocked. You may no longer access these accounts with your debit card. No new transactions will be authorized. However, we must pay certain transactions that are received for processing before your account is closed, even if this creates a negative balance in your account. This includes the payment of any previously authorized transactions ( for example, debit card purchases ), but no overdraft fees will be assessed if you do not have sufficient funds in your account. We must also process the reversal of any previously credited deposits that are returned unpaid and may assess a returned deposited item fee. Recurring payments you previously established will be declined and checks will be returned unpaid. While we will not assess an insufficient funds fee on these transactions, the merchant you attempted to pay may assess returned payment fees. Contact these merchants as soon as possible to make other payment arrangements. Any recurring or automatic bill payments set up from our accounts will need to be canceled or changed to a non-Wells Fargo account. You may continue to receive standard Wells Fargo communications or notices regarding your accounts, which may refer to services or features that are no longer applicable to or available on your accounts. Such communications and notices should not be understood as impacting our decision to close your accounts. While overdraft and insufficient funds fees will be waived following the date of this letter, other fees may continue to be assessed in accordance with your Account Agreement. What may delay account closure? Account closure may be delayed beyond the date listed above. The most common reasons include : your account has a negative balance, has pending transactions, or is subject to a legal order hold. Once the issue preventing closure is resolved, we will proceed with account closure and send you a final statement. What happens to the balance in your accounts when the account is closed? If the account balance is positive at closure, we will mail a cashiers check payable to you for all money due to you.

Issue: Written notification about debt

Subissue: Didn't receive notice of right to dispute

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter from my bank, Wells Fargo on XX/XX/2024 stating that there was judgement on my minor sons account ( I am the guardian of this acct ) and that on XX/XX/2024, {$2.00}, XXXX was withdrawn from my acct. they had no additional information other than the court officer and a phone number. I called the phone number provided and left a voice mail to find out what this was in reference to. In the meantime I called my bank to see if I could get more information to which they had none. All the money in that account was directly deposited from a child support order as a result from a recent court case. I explained this to them and they were aware. I received a call back from the court officers secretary and she gave me the information of the attorneys. I explained the situation to her, that I was never sent any paperwork and had no idea what this was for and told her about the child support money. She immediately told me to contact the attorneys XXXX and XXXX at XXXX. I called and spoke to the paralegal. She looked for my case and could not locate it at first due to the conflicting mailing addresses. When she did find it she told me it was a debtor named ugh but this was not the original debtor. I told her I never received any paperwork on this and the money that was levied from my sons acct was all child support money. She said to cal my bank. I told her my bank couldnt even give me any information. She then got very nasty and told me to wait for a manager. She put me on hold for over XXXX minutes came back and said no one was available and they would call me back. I have not received any calls. I called and left another voicemail and sent an email asking where I can send the documents and burden of proof that the money in that acct was child support. My employer reached out to me on XX/XX/2024 stating that he received a court order to garnish my wages for the same debt. XXXX weeks after the money was withdrawn from my Wells Fargo account. This is harassment. I was NEVER sent any paperwork. I want copies of paperwork at my address to prove they sent me something dated. I want the information on the debt and what it was for and a chance to set up a payment plan if it is valid. I want the money for my sons child support deposited back to his account and I want to show the proof and court order that is what is was. I dont want to be ignored. I want the wage garnishment canceled and for them to stop harassing my place of employment.
