Issue: Managing an account
Subissue: Cashing a check
Consumer Complaint: I had written a check for {$500.00} to XXXX XXXX for an advance for purchase of a puppy on XX/XX/2023. This was in addition to {$250.00} that I had paid to him through XXXX XXXX as an advance. I decided to not buy the puppy from him and informed him about this on phone on XX/XX/2023. I also requested him to tear up the check and he agreed. As a precaution I also asked Wells Fargo to stop payment on the check- the bank charged me {$10.00} for this service and stopped payment on the check for 6 months. At end of 6 months I checked on the banks website and saw that personal checks are valid for 6 months only so I did not feel the need to ask for another stop payment and pay {$10.00} again. XXXX XXXX cashed the check at a branch of Wells Fargo on XXXX XXXX. Wells Fargo should have not honored the check since it was more than 6 months old. Also they should have asked me since I had stopped payment on the check before giving {$500.00} to XXXX XXXX. I complained about this to Wells Fargo on XX/XX/2023 and on XX/XX/2023 they sent me a letter saying that they wanted me to resolve the issue directly with XXXX XXXX. I have been a victim of unfair and careless and irresponsible behavior by Wells Fargo and they should refund {$500.00} to me- they should not have honored a check more than 6 months old and on which I had already stopped payment once.

Consumer Complaint: I deposited a check on the XXXX of XXXX from a client that I have worked with for over a year. The funds were not totally made available to me, which I expected. On XXXX XXXX the funds were made available to me so I used them to pay rent, get groceries for my family and other needs. On XXXX XXXX my account was overdrawn over {$3000.00} - My XXXX sank. I call Wells Fargo and the rep tell XXXX me that Wells Fargo put a hold on the check and that it was because the signature was abnormal. He shares that the if the check is validated that the funds would be available on the XXXX. He suggested that I reach out to the other bank to make sure that the funds cleared and that should then release the funds for Wells Fargo. I do what the the rep says. I check the status of the check and verify that the check has cleared. I speak with my client 's accountant who verifies that the check has cleared. I call wells fargo back to let them know that the check had cleared and that I verified it with the other parties. They said there is nothing that can be done. At one point the rep asks what I think should have been done. I told him I felt that they should have honored the check all the way and not just for XXXX. They should have never released any funds until the check was verified fully. The man said that there wasn't anything that could be done. I requested to speak with the complaints dept. and they shared that they took down my complaint and that I would hear from someone. I believe the gentleman asked that a review be expedited but he still said funds would be available by XXXX XXXX. I look at my account and it shows that the check was deposited but my account is still overdrawn. In the meantime. My account is overdrawn by $ XXXX. On XXXX XXXX I get a payroll check for $ XXXX. I couldn't even touch it because it was absorbed by the $ XXXX overdraft. Now my account is sitting at - {$1400.00} and can't pay my other bills, pay my car payment, put gas in my car, get to work, my nephew 's birthday was on the XXXX and I couldn't do anything for him. My husbands birthday is on Sunday the XXXX and I have reservations that I will have to cancel because of this mess. I financially provide for my XXXX in Montana and I can't get her the things she needs. My family relies on me heavily. Wells Fargo is only for two demographics. XXXX XXXXs and scammers. Just a couple months ago I had to submit a complaint because every other time I would use my debit card I would get a fraud alert on my card and I couldn't use it until I would either respond to a text from wells fargo or call in to review transactions. I work extremely hard but I don't have a ton of money. I have a family who has needs. Everything has been delayed because of this and nobody cares. I want to buy a house - My credit is going to get dinged because of the late car payment, late XXXX XXXX payment, late XXXX payment, storage unit payment was declined because I didn't it in my account. People are struggling. Its terrible to hold money from people, especially when they've worked so hard for it.

Consumer Complaint: on XX/XX/2023 I went to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to purchase a car. I came in with a pre-approval. They used high pressure tactics to coerce my into signing an application for their own in-house financing. They told me that was the standard and I could not apply for financing without doing their own in-house loan application paperwork even though I told them I wanted the loan I had pre-approved and printed out in-hand. I told them I only wanted XXXX inquiry on my credit record and they promised me that there would only be a single hard inquiry. As it turns out they were being dishonest and were indeed just coercing me into applying for their in-house product and not the XXXX XXXX loan I had pre-approved. They were unable to beat the rate I had pre-approved from XXXX XXXX via their in-house financing and so they took it upon themselves to shop around. This resulted in XXXX additional hard inquiries on my credit report. There are inquiries from companies we never even discussed or talked about that day such as Wells Fargo Auto finance ( we never discussed ) or XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX also never discussed ). I now have multiple hard inquiries on my report which I did not authorize. The only other company we discussed was XXXX and they told me that was because XXXX XXXX was unreliable and didn't pay the money they were due so it was better to use XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I made an online purchase of a drone from XXXX, totaling {$980.00}, using my Wells Fargo credit card. Initially, the expected delivery was about a week away, but surprisingly, XXXX expedited the order, scheduling it for delivery on XX/XX/2023. Eagerly waiting, I stayed home all day anticipating the arrival of the drone. However, upon checking my XXXX account, I was startled to find a notification stating the drone had been delivered. Frantically searching, I found no trace of the package at my front door. Contacting XXXX immediately, they advised waiting for potential delayed delivery or filing a police report if the package didnt arrive. Despite waiting, the package never reached me, leading me to file a police report on the same day, XX/XX/2023. XXXX assured an investigation upon forwarding the case to their back office. Yet, the next day, I received an email declining a refund or replacement, asserting the item had been delivered, backed by a picture. Frustrated, I reiterated that I hadn't received the package. Consequently, I disputed the charge with my credit card company, furnishing them with all correspondences with XXXX and the police report. Regrettably, despite my efforts, the credit card dispute was denied by Wells Fargo. I provided them with detailed evidence, including my exchanges with XXXX and the police report number. It feels unjust to bear the cost of an item that never made it to my hands.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I made an online purchase of a drone from XXXX, totaling {$980.00}, using my Wells Fargo credit card. Although the initial delivery expectation was a week later, XXXX expedited the order, scheduling it for delivery on XX/XX/2023. Eagerly anticipating its arrival, I remained at home throughout the day. However, upon checking my XXXX account, I was surprised to find a notification claiming the drone had been delivered. Upon contacting XXXX, they advised waiting for a potential delayed delivery or filing a police report if the package failed to arrive. Consequently, on the same day, XX/XX/2023, I lodged a police report due to non-receipt of the package. XXXX assured an investigation upon escalating the matter to their back office. Nevertheless, the subsequent day, I received an email declining a refund or replacement, asserting the delivery had taken place, supported by a purported picture. Expressing my frustration and emphasizing the non-receipt of the package, I initiated a dispute with my credit card company. All correspondences with XXXX and the police report were promptly submitted to support my claim. Unfortunately, despite providing comprehensive evidence, the credit card dispute was regrettably denied by Wells Fargo. I included detailed evidence encompassing my exchanges with XXXX and the police report number. This situation is particularly disappointing considering my consistent successful purchases with XXXX, except for this instance on XX/XX/XXXX. Moreover, on XX/XX/XXXX, I made another purchase from XXXX, wherein the courier contacted me and obtained a signature before releasing the package. Attached is a copy of my online purchase history with XXXX for your reference. My concern solely pertains to the undelivered order on XX/XX/XXXX.
