Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was paid
Consumer Complaint: My complaint is regarding Transworld Systems. I have requested several times, via correspondence and telephone calls that Transworld Systems delete a collection account they have listed on my credit report. Transworld Systems has not complied with the Texas Finance Code Section 392 as well as the Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act, FCRA, and FDCPA. Transworld Systems ' response to my request for verification of this collection account includes the final invoice from the original creditor. This is not what I'm requesting they provide. I would like and have been requesting for months, that Transworld Systems provide me with the original contract bearing my signature from XXXX XXXX stating that I ever agreed to pay an assigned debt collector. To date, they have not provided this to me. Without my signature on the original creditor contract that shows I ever agreed to pay an assigned debt collector, Transworld Systems is breaking the law by negatively reporting this information to the Credit Bureaus. Further, On XX/XX/2022, I paid the full amount due on the account ( {$680.00} ) to XXXX XXXX, the original creditors. I then, contacted Transworld Systems asking them to remove this bogus collection account from my credit report since I never owed them any money and they could not prove to me that I did. They stated that since I paid XXXX XXXX, I should contact XXXX XXXX to have the collection account removed. I then, contacted XXXX XXXX who informed me that Transworld Systems is responsible for removing the account. I am submitting this complaint today because Transworld Systems should not be allowed to list this account on my credit report since they never proved that I was in debt to them ; and since the account has been paid to the original creditor, XXXX XXXX, the account/debt should be removed immediately, it is causing me great financial hardship. Thank you for your help!

Consumer Complaint: In 2018, a collection was placed on my account by Transworld System for an unpaid XXXX bill that I had never received from the original creditor. I informed the collection agency that I was not initially informed by the original creditor and had already paid the original creditor directly. I reached out to XXXX to explain the situation and have the collection account removed from my XXXX credit report.

Consumer Complaint: I became a XXXX customer in XXXX. My auto insurance policy was set to expire on XX/XX/XXXX. On XXXX, I contacted insurance agent XXXX XXXX to request an updated quote so that I could ( i ) modify certain coverage limits and ( ii ) compare the quote to competitors. She sent the updated quote and I declined/cancelled on that same day. On XXXX, I received an auto-pay email notice for my cancelled policy. I then turned off the auto-pay feature in my account and received online confirmation that the feature was inactive. I also notified XXXX XXXX via email and requested further assurance that I would not be charged for an auto policy that I had cancelled. I received no response. On XXXX, XXXX emailed me an auto insurance declaration despite my cancellation. I called her to have this issue resolved, but received no response. On XX/XX/XXXX, my credit card was charged {$910.00} for the cancelled policy. I emailed XXXX XXXX to get assistance with this erroneous charge and again, received no response. On XX/XX/XXXX, I filed a XXXX complaint outlining the above issue. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX responded to the XXXX complaint by acknowledging that I had cancelled my policy effective XX/XX/XXXX and providing a Policy Release, which was executed XX/XX/XXXX. Despite XXXX 's acknowledgment and signed release, it recently sent my information to a collection agency, Transworld Systems Inc., in an attempt to collect funds for the very same policy that it acknowledged had been timely cancelled. I have attached the signed Policy Release, my XXXX complaint, and the collection letter I received concerning the alleged debt for a cancelled policy. I have been attempting to rectify this issue with XXXX for several months, but to no avail.

Consumer Complaint: I noticed a collection account on my credit report that I did not recognize from " XXXX XXXX XXXX '' for {$200.00}. It didn't even start out as an open account, it went immediately to the collections category. I do not have any utility bills in my name. I looked up the company and they are based in Texas, which is not where I even live. I've lived in California for 8 years now. I tried to dispute the account myself to no avail. When I reached out to the company they sent me " proof '' of the account, which was in a language I don't speak, and used my information to send debt collectors after me. This is downright inexcusable for them to not even check on the information that's given them and not even respond to my attempts to contact them or take them seriously. Then to use my correct information to send debt collectors my way when the only reason they have my information to begin with is because I made police reports and reported my identity as being stolen. I had previously frozen my identity and this still happened.

Consumer Complaint: After previously requesting that Nationwide Credit not call me and to use email as the preferred communication method, they ignored my request and continue to call multiple times throughout the day. In addition to ignoring my request to be contacted via email only, they contacted a family member via phone, notified them of the debt they were trying to collect, and tried to ascertain additional contact information. The phone call to my family member was received on XX/XX/22 on/around XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX as a brand new XXXX, I was approved for the XXXX XXXX XXXX from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). I used the card for 19 years with excellent payment history ( I owed {$5500.00} ), until I became incarcerated at the end of XXXX. My final bank-auto-payment stopped not long after, because my wages were stopped and I couldn't reach all my creditors except the ones that reached out to me in prison. I never got any CORRESPONDENCE from XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX to my release, XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX I found out from the IRS that my 1st and 2nd stimulus checks were garnished by XXXX, I called XXXX and was referred to Transworld Systems Inc, who told me the US Treasury gave them {$1700.00} of the {$1800.00} ( minus admin fees ) on XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I never got any CORRESPONDENCE from the Treasury Dept either. The TSI representative also stated that I now owed {$15000.00} with 15 % interest accrual per each {$1000.00}, per month, but if I requested for hardship consideration, they will send me a Statement of Financial Status. I later asked why wasn't the debt forgiven after seven years and it's no longer on my credit reports, and the lady said that XXXX do not forgive debts and it will be back in my credit reports soon, in collections. I received their first letter with the Statement of Financial Status, late XXXX, dated XX/XX/XXXX. I decided to consult a Pro-Bono attorney from the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and later worked with a XXXX XXXX volunteer who researched the issue and found, 1. Its unlawful not to inform or attempt to collect from the debtor before putting a lien on his or her XXXX. - I was at a XXXX XXXX facility for six years before transferring to a Federal establishment, I was reachable. 2. The US Treasury Dept must inform the debtor of their action upon garnishment. - I sent an IRS Change of Address forms upon release to the XXXX XXXX that the federal prison released me to. In both instances, I was reachable, and I was in the hands of the US government. I first requested my {$1200.00} stimulus, XXXX XX/XX/XXXX via XXXX, as instructed by the IRS, and I sent it via Certified Mail. I waited and waited, until the IRS re-instructed that this time it must me claimed as a XXXX tax refund which I did again but at this time, the second stimulus was added to make it {$1800.00}. I also asked TSI for a complete debt profile from the beginning of this debt to now, but they say that process will take 30 days, I haven't gotten that yet. The reason I couldn't work any financials with them is because I'm currently XXXX with XXXX XXXX since my release, so I have no income. I tried my hand at temp-work for 2-1/2 months, but that only aggravated my condition, so I'm currently XXXX and living at a VA XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX while receiving treatment.
