Issue: Problem with fraud alerts or security freezes
Subissue:
Consumer Complaint: I recently filed a complaint with your agency in regard to not being able to freeze/unfreeze my credit file with Transunion. Well today XX/XX/XXXX, your agency sent a response to me from Transunion that this concern had been resolved and that I would now be able to freeze/unfreeze my credit file online. Well, I checked my email that Transunion instructed me to reset my password through the link that was provided to me in my email. I followed the instructions to reset my profile 's password with Transunion. I then tried to freeze/unfreeze and was unsuccessful again. Therefore, I called Transunion at the number provided in my email and was connected to the online department. Well, the agent in this department stated that the reason I can not freeze/unfreeze my file is because I had a profile set up on their paid site and that I need to set up a profile on their free site called service.transunion.com. I attempted to setup a profile on the free site of Transunion and it stated that I had a profile set up already. I am very furious therefore, I called back into Transunion. This agent stated that the reason that I could not freeze/unfreeze my file is because of internal errors on my online profile and that a supervisor was going to call me in 3 business days. I told her that I had heard this before and had spoken to a supervisor back in XXXX and was told to send in copies of my drivers license and social card to no avail nothing was fixed. The agent then had given me another case # again for the third time and said that she would see if she could get a supervisor on the line. Supervisor XXXX talked to me to tell me that she could not fix my problem but that a technical rep will call me in 3 business days ( something that Transunion keeps saying to me ). This is the same issue I have been dealing with since XX/XX/XXXX. I personally feel that this is just a ploy by Transunion to have me start paying monthly for monitoring service with their bureau. My file is still frozen, and I can not access credit from creditors who utilize Transunion.
