Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I originally reached out XX/XX/year> reporting the inaccuracies on my account and providing a FTC identity theft report for the creditor. You stated a drivers license was required to complete the process but you have not shown proof of the drivers license presented at the time. FTC reports nearly XXXX XXXX dollars lost to fraud each year. That number is not fictional. My identity theft report was not taken seriously, and when given the opportunity, the " comments '' section was not updated as " identity theft '', nor was there any acknowledgement of my dispute. Attached are the responses from the original creditor alleging I provided a drivers license, which can be obtained illegally by criminals wishing to steal someone's identity. What's more is the account alleged to be mine isn't even reporting accurately. How can a person pay 94 % of payments on time while simultaneously reporting 0 % payments made ( all payments missed )? This is not ok, this is not legal, and should be fixed ( deleted from my account. ) XXXX reports 94 % of payments made on time whereas XXXX reports 0 % of payments made on time. Transunion 's payment history is void yet reporting as open, the same as the XXXX report which has the 94 % payment history. All of this will be highlighted in the attached .pdf document for easy viewing. I have waited a year and disputed this multiple times with a paper trail being left in my favor. Depending on the outcome of this dispute, please understand that I am intending to sue if my report is once again neglected. please see the attached images and files for context.
