Consumer Complaint: Trafficking Block Request To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to advise that I am a victim of trafficking. For your convenience and reference, I have attached supporting documents that substantiate my claim. The information listed below, that is currently listed on my credit report is a result of that trafficking. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Please block this information from my credit report within four business days, pursuant to section 605C of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This section provides the right to request the deletion of information from a credit report as a result of trafficking. Per 605C - 2 In brief, section 605C provides that a consumer reporting agency may not furnish a consumer report containing any adverse item of information concerning a consumer that resulted from a severe form of trafficking in persons or sex trafficking if the consumer has provided trafficking documentation to the consumer. The Bureau is adopting several amendments to Regulation V to implement new section 605C of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) ,1 added by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( 2022 NDAA ) .2 In brief, section 605C provides that a consumer reporting agency may not furnish a consumer report containing any adverse item of information concerning a consumer that resulted from a severe form of trafficking in persons or sex trafficking if the consumer has provided trafficking documentation to the consumer reporting agency.3 Under section 605C, the Bureau is required to issue implementing regulations within 180 days of the enactment of the 2022 NDAA . Section 605C is effective 30 days after the Bureau issues its final implementing regulations. Consumer Complaint: I was reviewing my credit report and noticed multiple credit inquiries from companies I have never heard from or have done business with thus they would have no legal right to access my file. Further for the few companies that I have accounts with that they confirmed that additional credit inquiries were not initiated by them and they must be fraudulent. I asked them to remove them however they indicated that I would have to formally dispute them with the credit bureaus and to identify them as inquires that I never authorized or gave permission for my credit report to be pulled. To be clear this is a violation of federal law and this is very alarming that my credit file has been accessed without my authorization. Seeing as I already have a fraud alert on my file I am wondering how these inquires were even made as I was not contacted to give my authorization. The following inquiries are the ones identified that need to be removed IMMEDIATELY as I never applied for credit with these companies either on the date in question or at all and they did NOT have permissible purpose to access my file.
