Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022 I woke up to find charges that were made overnight on my Synchrony Bank Amazon store card. The purchases were made at approximately XXXX while I was asleep. I was able to successfully cancel one of the items as it was a physical item, but the other item had already been redeemed because it was for an amazon gift card for one-hundred dollars. I was told by amazon customer service that I need to deal directly with the card issuer, so I called Synchrony Bank. I was told I would receive a letter in the mail within seven to ten business days which I did and then another letter in thirty days after the case was received and resolved, which was never received. The issue was resolved, and I was issued a credit for the fraudulent charge. After getting off the phone with the bank I checked all my devices for any malicious activity as I noticed I had not received any login attempts, Having a XXXX XXXX XXXX i knew that meant that if something did happen it came from either someone on my network or a device in my house. I found malware on two devices in my home and called the bank back right away. I provided them with this information and that was the last I heard from them. Sixty days later I notice a balance transfer for the amount that I was credited for the fraudulent charge pending on my account. I called synchrony back, was connected to the investigation department and was told, by the same person, two different reasons why the claim was reversed. The first reason was that the merchandise was delivered to my house. I told the associate on the phone that this wasnt possible as the purchase made was for a digital item. He then told me that it was because the purchase was made from an IP address that I had made purchases from in the past. When I reiterated the context of my previous phone call, he said there was no note of the second call. He said he would reopen the claim, I would receive another letter in seven to ten business days with another resolution within thirty days. Within hours a received digital letter back saying that the fraud team has investigated my claim and it was denied. I have attached the letter below.

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I continue, for the past two years, receiving invoices from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( a debt collection company XXXX Synchrony Bank, XXXX, account number ending XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Amount : {$340.00}. I tried contacting XXXX at the XXXX number on the invoice over a year ago and when I gave them the last four digits of the Acct. #, they promptly asked me for my social security number ( the person answering the number had a foreign accent ). I hung up realizing the invoice was a SCAM. I pay all my bills on time and do not owe anyone any money and never had a credit card or other account with the four digit account number given on the invoice ( XXXX ). They continue to send me invoices each month, with three options to pay off the {$340.00}, 10 % off, 5 % off or build your own plan. What I find very odd, is they put this invoice each month in a different type of envelope, sometimes big ones, sometimes colored ones which makes me not know who the mail is from, which requires me to open it rather than toss it as SCAM. Please arrange to look into this company. If anything were to happen to me, my estate would think I owed the money, and I do not. I want these scam invoices to stop being sent to my address. There is no return address on the incoming envelope, making it impossible for me to " return to sender. ''

Consumer Complaint: I called Synchrony/Care Credit serval times the first time was on XXXX XXXX to ask them to make my statements electronic because I have been having issues at my address with someone going in my mail box I do not always receive my mail. The representative said that the statements would be electronic and I would receive them that way, the following month which was XX/XX/2021 I did not receive the statement electronically which caused me to miss the payment. I called in serval times explain to different representatives and they were very mean and unprofessional, after serval calls to this company and serval threats that they would close my account if I did not pay or they would lower my credit limit they did lower my credit limit. This is unfair when it is the company 's fault that the payment was late. My limit is lowered and XXXX cant call again because of fear that the card will be closed next.

Consumer Complaint: I had a XXXX 20 months ago and I received a care credit card to help me pay off the XXXX monthly. It was {$3300.00} originally, and I was told to pay the minimum payments each month to pay the balance off within 18 months. At some point, they changed my minimum payments from {$180.00} to {$100.00} which I continued to pay the minimum. I also moved apartments so my statements were sent to my old address. After 18 months, my account balance went back up to {$3100.00}. I called and they told me that since I did not call about the address change, then it's too bad and they can't do anything. They changed my minimum balance and now I am stuck with the original balance that continues to increase each month and I have no way of paying it off.
