Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: I sent a dispute letter to the consumer reporting agency on XX/XX/2022. Regarding a few inaccurate marks on my report. They are reporting late payments and also a charge-off and according to Federal Law : 15 USC 1681 a ( i ) which states that consumer reports should NOT include transactions or experiences between the consumer and the person making the report I explained this in my dispute and the violation was not corrected. This account has also been charged off and according to IRS publication, 4681 charge-offs are considered income and income shouldn't be reported on your credit report. I would like for this account to be removed from my report immediately.

Issue: Getting a credit card

Subissue: Application denied

Consumer Complaint: My wife died 2 weeks ago and she had our Sam 's Club credit card in her name. I now have to get one in my name so I applied. Synchrony bank said I had to get a smart phone and do a facial recognition video or hire a notary to verify my identity. I don't have a smart phone and I find facial recognition an invasion of my privacy. I don't think making people hire a notary is fair to open a credit card. We never had this before. My credit score is over XXXX. I find Synchrony bank to be discriminatory in this matter. I think they are using big tech and A.I. to suppress people. This is based on a phone conversation with " XXXX '' on XX/XX/22.

Issue: Closing your account

Subissue: Company closed your account

Consumer Complaint: Synchrony is a bank that lends primarily to those who take advantage of zero interest accounts for large purchases. I have recently had XXXX accounts closed with them that have such balances AND I have been in good standing all of them. I have never missed a payment, but they dictate that I have a high proportion of balances and therefore not considered a good risk. This is also part of their long game when they lower the available credit limit on the amount they initial approve you for AND they also use the recalculated XXXX score that was made by their lowering of the credit limit. It's unfair to approve someone for an entire amount, they agree to the terms of zero percent for financing the purchase ( often the purchase amount is higher because of the merchant fee they charge ) and then charge interest now for saying the account is in default on an account they closed when the account was in good standing to begin with. I do feel this would violate areas of Regulation B.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Problem with personal statement of dispute

Consumer Complaint: XXXX XX/XX/XXXX I ordered furniture from XXXX XXXX who offered me credit from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Synchrony Bank, I accepted the credit offer since they would not charge the card until furniture was delivered, which should have taken no more than a month to be delivered. I checked in with the furniture store a month later to find out the status of my delivery only to find out that they have no idea when the furniture was going to be delivered, according to XXXX it could be XXXX or XXXX of the following year, immediately I sent her an email stating I wish to cancel order immediately because I can not wait that long for the furniture. I then called Synchrony Bank and asked them to cancel credit card. XXXX XXXX reached out to me asking me to reconsider keeping the furniture and my response was the same cancel the order. In XXXX of XXXX they attempted to deliver the furniture to my home which I did not accept. They then charged the credit card almost {$800.00} for restocking fees and Synchrony Bank paid them. I have reached out to the bank several times and discuss the issue with them and sent all communications with the furniture company to them as well. To date they have not and refuses to remove it from my credit and obtain the moneys back from the company. Instead they told me the credit card and the bank have an agreement so they are unable to resend it. This all happened after I have already called the bank prior to them delivering the furniture. When they finally cancelled the order they returned half of the funds to the credit card company instead of all of the funds. They claimed the rest of the funds were for restocking fees, ( see attachment # XXXX ) there should not have been a restocking fee because order was cancelled way before furniture arrived at their warehouse.

Consumer Complaint: I made a purchase from JC Penny on XX/XX/2022 and was billed for payment due on XX/XX/2022. I thought that by law billing payment cycles are at least 21 days. I paid the bill because I didn't want to have a late payment on my credit report. I also read Synchrony Bank terms for credit card holders and it quotes that billing cycles are from the XXXX to the XXXX of the month, or from mid-month to mid-month. ( Your credit card statement will outline the billing cycle and terms. ) are XXXX thru the XXXX of the month.

Issue: Fees or interest

Subissue: Charged too much interest

Consumer Complaint: I purchased furniture from the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX store in XXXXXXXX XXXX I was offered 24 months free financing from their bank, Synchrony. We ended up returning a piece of furniture and replacing it with something else. In the end, I had XXXX interest free promotions on my account, XXXX for 24 months and XXXX for 6 months. The 6 month promotion had a starting balance of about {$1100.00}, so I paid synchrony {$200.00} / month to pay off the 6 month promotion in 6 months. I was recently hit with over {$250.00} in interest charges. When I called Synchrony, they said that my payments were being applied to both promotions, so I did not pay off the 6 month promotion. I was charged 30 % interest on the full balance from day XXXX ( over {$250.00} ). Synchrony was unempathetic and rude when I called. This was not made clear to me when I was offered the financing. The statements from Synchrony do not clearly state how this works. There is also no option to pay off the promotions separately. They are lumped together on the statement. This practice is deceitful and designed to mislead consumers. Additionally, while the interest rate may be allowed by law, 29.99 % is also obscenely high.
