Consumer Complaint: I was first contacted on XX/XX/2023 by an unknown number. The caller did not identify where she was calling from, but explained that there may be a complaint that I may be affiliated with and to contact another number. This person did not state she was calling regarding a debt collection, no notice of recorded calls was given, and the representative provided ME with my year of birth and last XXXX of my SS number. She did not ask me to provide this information ; she reported it to me. She called from XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX, which upon attempting to call the number back, duals to a rapid busy signal. I called the number she gave me, which she stated was for XXXX, but would not provide me the description of what the letters stood for and gave me a reference number. I called the number she provided : ( XXXX ) XXXX. There was no business name provided as the call picked up. I gave the representative the reference number I was provided and asked what this was regarding. She refused to tell me until I confirmed my personal information, which I never did. She then, proceeded to state my name, birth date, and FULL SS number without asking me any questions for me to verify my identity first. I did not respond to the personal information she provided me, she briefly put me on hold, then came back on the line and proceeded to tell me the call was in regard to a debt that was closed and is XXXX years old. She then threatened to file litigation, garnish my wages, etc. She provided me an amount that I can not verify due to the debts age and the account being closed out many years ago. I do not know if any of this is legitimate, but I am confident it is not legal. I am extremely concerned that this company, XXXX, XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, is accepting incoming calls, without recorded lines, without initial dent collection notification, and then providing the caller with federally protected identification information, including, but not limited to stating someones full SS number and then proceeding to threaten them. This firm needs to be investigated and I must now monitor my identity more closely to watch for identity theft and fraud.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2022, I opened a credit account with Mattress Firm/ Synchrony Bank . I was making payments until I realized that my principal of {$450.00} had remained unchanged. While I was under the impression that the advertised 18-month, interest-free payment term, and {$30.00} a month payment was adequate to pay off the loan, I haven't made a dent in my total amount owed. Then, the minimum payment went up from {$30.00} to {$100.00} without me knowing. The terms of the loan are very unclear and predatory.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease
Subissue: Billing problem
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/ I financed a motorcycle through the dealership with Synchrony Bank in the amount of {$12000.00} at a 9.99 % interest rate, on XX/XX/ I made a {$230.00} payment, I then made additional payments on XX/XX/ in the amount of {$600.00}, XX/XX/ in the amount of {$250.00} and another {$600.00} payment on XXXX As of XX/XX/ my statement balance was listed ay {$11000.00}. We realized that all of the extra payments we were making were not being applied to the loan balance. On XX/XX/ we refinanced the loan to XXXX and a check in the amount of {$11000.00} was signed for at XXXX by an XXXX XXXX XXXX Synchrony Bank on XXXX. The payoff amount at the time the check was received was {$10000.00}. On XX/XX/ I called Synchrony because no one had contacted us about the overpayment. I requested a check be sent in the amount of the overpayment of {$640.00}. Synchrony bank sent us a check in the amount of {$570.00} leaving an unaccounted for balance {$64.00}. Synchrony has not sent us an itemized statement to account for any of the charges, or the loan payoff. I have been unable to contact them, and at this point this is basically theft. I would like the remaining balance of {$64.00} sent to me immediately. I honestly have no idea how this place is even still in business. I've never seen such atrocious tactics for essentially stealing from people.

Issue: Problem when making payments
Subissue: Problem during payment process
Consumer Complaint: I am the subject of an improperly handled bill payment transaction with PayPal Credit ( Synchrony Bank ) for two lines of credit -- one interest-bearing at 12.99 percent and the other at a promotional rate of zero percent for six months. I am reporting this issue to the CFPB to ensure that Synchrony Bank does not benefit from any penalty revenue paid and that I am properly refunded. I also hope that Synchrony Bank is held liable for this and that this serves as evidence of negligence on their end in any future legal proceedings. On XX/XX/23 I called PayPal Customer Service to make a payment to PayPal ( Synchrony Bank ) prior to my due date of XX/XX/23. I asked PayPal to charge my bank account {$490.00}. I asked them to first allocate roughly XXXX dollars of this, the minimum payment due on the interest-bearing account, to the interest-bearing account. I then asked them to allocate the balance of this payment to the zero percent promotional account. On XX/XX/23 I was notified of a missed payment by Synchrony despite having asked them to post my payment. I called customer service and spoke with a " XXXX XXXX '' ( Confirmation # XXXX ). This individual told me they remedied my issue and that my account was no longer delinquent. On XX/XX/23 I received a letter from PayPal Credit ( Synchrony Bank ) stating that they could not make the allocation as requested because my XXXX payment was past due. I then called PayPal at XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/23 and spoke with an account manager in the Customer Service Department by the name of " XXXX '' who had been with the company for six years. XXXX informed me that I didn't pay my bill and as a result I could not make my allocations as desired. XXXX also told me that I had to pay double the minimum payment on my interest-bearing account ( XXXX and XXXX bills ), and that the rest of the money would be allocated to my special financing rate. I then decided that Synchrony 's services weren't worth my money and that they didn't need my interest revenue, so I paid my bill in full at XXXX dollars for both accounts. I have attached an XXXX Sheet with my calculations to justify my allocation request.

Consumer Complaint: Every time I apply for a synchrony bank credit card I always receive the same decline response application as a risk factors that caused us to be on sure of your identity. Or unable to verify identity. This is synchrony banks, job to call me and verify the application it is not fair that I am using my inquiry to apply for credit with my credit score being in the 700s debt to income, low and income high for you to decline me for such frivolous purpose. I am including a copy of my drivers license, state ID card, Social Security card, and letter to verify that this is me I need for you to reconsider this application.

Subissue: Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Consumer Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I received a knock at my door ; by Deputy of Civil court. He served me with a citation, from an attorney 's office ; claiming to be suing on behalf XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, who purchased the account from, Rooms to Go/Synchrony Bank XXXX This came as a shock, because I had not been notified prior. Nor was I sent any letters notifying me, or giving me an opportunity to make a payment arrangement of any sort. What's worse is, they are suing for the original amount of the item placed on the credit card. This should not be the case, as the item was {$1100.00} and the credit card limit given, was {$1000.00}. I created the account in XX/XX/XXXX. I ordered a sectional from Rooms To Go, through Synchrony Bank Credit. This was a 3-year term with no interest. I was given 12 months to purchase the sectional at sale price. I began making payments on the Synchrony Bank, Rooms to Go account, once I received the sectional, one month later. ( XX/XX/XXXX ). Minimum payments XXXX. I made payments consistently, for months. I will admit payments were a little late, but never more than 20 days late. In XX/XX/XXXX, I was hospitalized with XXXX.I contacted them for help with late payment fees. I was still making payments while sick. They refused. I was paying, but with high lates fees, it was if, I was paying anything at all. All of this, while not receiving income while sick. I reached out again, when released from hospital ( XX/XX/XXXX ), to ask for payment assistance. I received no help. I had made 10 payments by this time. When trying to login to my account to make a payment, in XX/XX/XXXX ). I found that my account was officially closed on their website. I tried to get payment history, to rectify the balance. I received nothing in the mail. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX, they have sold the account to an attorney 's office, to sue. They provided the attorney with my last payment on the account. Just the 1 payment, after I made 10 months ' worth of payments and they are suing for the full amount of the sectional. I have submitted my response to the citation I was served on XXXX XXXX, requiring proof of debt, in my city 's civil court. I have not received proof of my debt from the attorney, since. However, I received yet another citation from the civil court, this afternoon, XX/XX/XXXX.
