Consumer Complaint: My complain is with PayPal I had my PayPal account for over 6 months and I used it regularly So on XX/XX/2023 I received a payment in the amount of XXXX $ split in XXXX payments XXXX {$500.00} $ and XXXX $ Because of this payment I struggled to withdraw funds from my PayPal account I called multiple times to know why, They claimed it was the algorithm that flagged my PayPal account because my account had never received such amount and they could not override the algorithm I explained how and where the payment came from but to no avail For 5 days I struggled and called to find solutions to withdraw my money On XX/XX/2023 I was finally able to withdraw the money which was subjected to a XXXX hour hold XXXX hours into that XXXX hours hold I got an email saying they could not process the transfer and cancelled it And few minutes later I got another email saying my account has been permanently limited Putting me in debt and subjecting me to series of embarrassment

I then sold it so I could transfer it a different way and Venmo is now holding my funds until XX/XX/XXXX. This is hostage of my funds, and they should not be holding it. Ive used crypto for years and have never once had a company do this. This is completely dishonest in no way shape or form should they be able to hold my funds. They refused to refund my original purchase to my debit card or to do anything to resolve this.

However my payment is on hold, and I don't know why. They wanted tax information so I gave them all of my info. But I still can't access the funds. When I tried to submit my tax info again, the message I got was " You're all set ''. They buyer has also been trying to help get me my money. She tried to get the money back as a refund but they denied her " claim ''. I have been on the website dozens of times. I chat Venmo to assist me to dispute the transaction. Venmo had me to contact my financial institution XXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/2023, XXXX XXXX XXXX gave me temporary credit {$50.00} while they were investigating the transaction. On XX/XX/2023, XXXX XXXX XXXX reversed the {$50.00} and I called XXXX XXXX XXXX that this was a fraud transaction because the merchant gave me a fake service address. XXXX XXXX XXXX said that XXXX doesnt offer assistance for Venmo transactions. On the other hand, Venmo told me that for transaction $ dispute, I should contact my financial institution. Thereforethis brought me to file the complaint via CFPB.
