Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I applied for mortgage relief with OcWen Services a few months ago. They responded last month by raising the interest due on my mortgage by about {$1000.00}. When I asked why, they said I should be paying 50 % of my income to them, so I could afford it. I kept saying I was asking for a lower payment not a higher one. They began calling and harassing me, and when I asked to speak to a manager in the US, they either out me on hold of said someone would call back, and they never did. I paid my usual mortgage payment in XX/XX/XXXX, and they refused to accept it. They say I owe the higher amount each month going forward. I don't understand how applying for mortgage relief can cause my payment to go up so much.

Consumer Complaint: Forbearance plan was put in place after Hurricane Harvey. I was already 2 months late before I called and requested assistance and had over $ 5K of late fees on my account. I was called and offered the plan and was told over the phone that if I make 12 monthly payments of {$1800.00} ( Normal payment was {$1300.00} ) starting on XX/XX/XXXX and didn't miss any payments the whole 12 months, I would be all caught up and have no past due payments and all of my late fees would have been paid off as well. I was very worried about the large payment, but I had no other choice at the time. It was a hard 12 months, but I was able to make all of the payments on time and made my last payment this past XXXX. I even called them early in XXXX to validate what I was told and that after I make my XXXX payment all past dues and late fees would be paid off and my normal payment of {$1300.00} would resume and be due on XX/XX/XXXX. They told me " YES ''. Even the automated system said after I made the XXXX payment that my next payment due is in the amount of {$1300.00} and is due on XX/XX/XXXX. Now they are totally changing everything up on me and telling me that I still owe the late fees and that all of these payments I've been making all year were going to the past due amounts that I had before Harvey and that even though I made large payments in XXXX and XXXX it still shows those months as being not paid. I asked to speak to the person who set up the repayment plan and was told they no longer work there. Now when I go online it no longer shows that my next payment of XXXX is due on XX/XX/XXXX. It now shows that it is due for XXXX and I am two months late on payments. RIDICULOUS. WHAT CAN I DO?

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: Ocwen mortgage company took over financing my house from GMAC. Immediately they claimed I hadn't enough insurance. Next they were taken my insurance payments from my mortgage but didn't pay the insurance that was due to XXXX. They claim they couldn't reach them. They allowed my insurance to lapse by not paying XXXX although they had collected the money with my mortgage payment. Next they were trying to strong arm me to accept another insurance company at a much higher rate. Once I found out they purposefully lapsed my insurance I inquired why they hadn't simply paid XXXX insurance. I had never paid XXXX directly since I bought the house. Now my insurance doubled from {$1400.00} a month to {$3200.00} a month. All because they just decided not to pay XXXX. Every month now I have to pay more. This company is totally aggressive in hurting homeowners. Can they be held responsible for causing my insurance to double? Plus they continue to make me pay over my contractual agreement month after month ... My principal had hardly decreased since they took over my mortgage. They are responsible for my insurance lapsing. Can they be held responsible? Thank you

Issue: Struggling to pay mortgage

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: Because of my illness and divorce I became delinquent in my mortgage payments. All notification regarding the delinquency was sent to another address and not the property address or my mailing address. In fact I correspond with Ocwen mortgage for month at I current mailing address and the foreclosure attorney was sending paper work to my old address. Ocwen eventually sent foreclosure paper work to my current mailing address but it was for some else property! I have that paper work! Prior to the foreclosure sale date I filed bankruptcy and it was dismissed two weeks later because the attorney didn’t file the schedule in a timely matter. So the mortgage company allowed me to file for another short sale and I did along with the submition of a rectified contract and was advised by Qcwen loan servicing that my short sale was denied because it has to be filed within 37 days prior to the sale date. I advised them that when you offered it to me it was within that time frame because the complete package was submitted that same day which men’s that Ocwen know that when you offered me that option! Then Ocwen offered me a modification and stated that the time factor didn’t matter. Several days later I received notification in the mail that it was denied because of the timeliness of my filing! Ocwen is playing games! And needs to be investigated! Months ago I requested a deed in lieu of and was advised that I couldn’t apply for that option without giving Ocwen time to review my file so I held on the phone for the review and was advised to apply for another mortification.

Consumer Complaint: Ocwen has constantly harassed and left door tags at our home when we have not been late. Our mortgage is current and our payments have been doubled. I ask about the fees and extra charges but never get a explanation. They have also not accounted for payments causing late payment fees which we should never have had.

Consumer Complaint: Ocwen has foreclosed on my property with a Strict Foreclosure law day of XX/XX/XXXX in proceedings through XXXX and XXXX when they also stated to me that they have a Hold Foreclosure on my account. It does't make sense. I had been working with the Ombudsman 's office and my representative to straighten out a very confusing Modification offer first presented in XX/XX/2018, which included no details of the modification except for the amounts of the first three payments ( and no guarantee of a modification even after paying those ). After requesting this information, in XX/XX/2018, Ocwen finally sent me the details, which I agree to, but they said that the time for accepting the modification had passed and that I could appeal. So I immediately appealed, only to find that they then sent another modification proposal in XX/XX/2018 that was much more expensive ( an additional {$260000.00} ), based on their assumption that the value of my house had risen ( magically ) from {$890000.00} to {>= $1,000,000} ( in a very much dropping market ). I made my representative ( and the Ombusdman office ) aware of what had to have been an egregious error and in XX/XX/XXXX paid for my own Appraisal of my home, which showed the value at {$660000.00} ( emailed to them XX/XX/XXXX ). Working with my Ombudsman, we agreed to " call it '' {$700000.00} since Ocwen said that they had a higher appraisal. They are purportedly working on a modification ( we also spoke of a settlement, but I can not handle a one time payment like that ) all the while I have been to court on three occasions, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and finally XX/XX/XXXX all the while Ocwen states that my account is on a Foreclosure Hold. I've reported Ocwen before in a much larger scope of problems ( Complaint XXXX-XXXX ). I am assuming, and it appears by the CFPB action against Ocwen in XXXX that you've addressed those. Now, it appears I need some rather direct intervention, and I hope you can help " nudge '' Ocwen to honor their Modification process based on this new value of the home ( similar to their XX/XX/XXXX assessment ) - and immediately before XX/XX/XXXX comes and we are out of our home!

Consumer Complaint: I read that you successfully sued Ocwen Mortgage yet they are still using the same tactics. My loan was sold over and over during the housing crash of XX/XX/2008. I can not remember the name of the company that sold out and gave my loan to Ocwen. The previous company and Ocwen, will not stop these late fees from being on my account. Now they no longer will allow me to pay my mortgage payment without charging me because they put that I owe {$2000.00} in fees due to them never allowing me to change date my loan payment which was originated with another mortgage company. I have been charged at least {$7.00} a month for years to make a payment! Ridiculous. They will not modify the date. My husband was seriously injured in XX/XX/2010 and is now XXXX XXXX. I could not make the payment on the 1st of each month, I had to wait until I got paid at the end of the month and so they added even more late fees. You can not win for losing with this company. Everything you sued them for they are still doing. I did not get any compensation or letter from Ocwen about the lawsuit with your company. I do not understand how they are allowed to do what they do to consumers because it is so criminal and appalling. Due to my husband 's injury it ruined our credit and I can not find another company to service the loan, unfortunately.

Consumer Complaint: I was a participant in the class settlement with Ocwen for misapplication of payments. I had some account adjustments done effective XX/XX/2018 to reduce principal due to the company 's misapplication of prior payments. Starting in XX/XX/XXXX, I have noticed a lot of strange adjustments on my account. There are several negative entries in the exact same amount of my normal ( bi-weekly ) mortgage payment. I have reviewed the payment schedule, and spoke to Customer Service, but all they told me was that this was " correcting a misapplication of payments ''. I asked if it was due to the class action settlement, and was told that it was not. Clearly this person was just reading off of a script because he told me the " procedure '' directed him to refer me to a website and/or phone number about the class action settlement. I have also received a past due notice, despite NEVER missing a payment, and was told by Customer Service this was an error. I am not confident in Ocwen 's ability to apply my money in a correct and honest manner. I want to have a complete review of my account because I do not trust Ocwen.
