Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: Hello, MyGreatLakes has noted my account as in FORBEARANCE. I have made all of my payments including additional payments. My credit score has dropped 20 points as a result of " deferred payments notation '' that I did not request. I have reached out to them to remove this immediately with no response. I Have made 2 payments of {$500.00} in a matter of one month instead of one {$100.00} payment to show I do not want any assistance. As a result of their incorrect Remark on my credit report, my credit score dropped by 20 points or so. I need this fixed asap because this is causing damages to my potential loan options for future purchases. I need this repair asap. This is an illegal practice. I have a contract with the bank and have met all of their stipulations. To dock my score illegally and force me in to a " forbearance '' is false pretense. I need this resolved immediately. Please advise me on future steps I can take. This is causing massive financial damage to my purchasing power / cost to borrow. I need this resolved.

Consumer Complaint: My Federal Student Loan accounts have been reported by the Federal Student Loan Servicer as Account Status " Payment Deferred '', despite Section 3513 ( d ) of the H.R. 748 CARES Act requiring " During the period in which the Secretary suspends payments on a loan under subsection ( a ), the Secretary shall ensure that, for the purpose of reporting information about the loan to a consumer reporting agency, any payment that has been suspended is treated as if it were a regularly scheduled payment made by a borrower. '' My loans have been in repayment for years. I have never missed a payment and always at least pay the minimum amount due every month. My credit score dropped significantly on XX/XX/2020 from XX/XX/2020 due to the remarks added to my Federal Student Loan account ( Account Status change to " Payment Deferred '' ). My Federal Student Loan accounts were reported in error.

Consumer Complaint: I disputed this already but I still seeing repetitive 120 days late remarks on this account USDOE/GLELSI XXXX which is a clear violation of my right under the FCRA. The company has never responded to any of my attempts to obtain any proof or documentation that will prove this account is being reported accurately.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2016, it shows on my credit report that I was late for the month of XXXX and XXXX. I believe this is incorrect because I have had this account in forbearance until the settlement has cleared. I also contacted Nelnet in XXXX about this matter and my account on my credit report. nothing has been resolved. This is my second attempt on settling this matter to remove my late payments on my credit report.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: I called Nelnet, to discuss my options related to Covid-19 deferrals. When I spoke to the representative, he told me that my loan was not held by the Federal Government so I did not qualify for the federal student loan deferral program. He then explained that Nelnet had a separate program for private borrowers. The program terms were the following : 1 ) three month pause in payments 2 ) no change in " borrower incentives '' on interest rates 3 ) interest would accrue at the same rate, including the borrower incentives, even though no payments were being made. 4 ) Payments resume XX/XX/XXXX at the same rate as before. I agreed to the deferment on the terms as I have outlined them above. Today, I received notice that my borrower incentives were removed from my account. When I called the lender to discuss this, I was told that I could either withdraw from the deferral program or pay the higher interest rate. I explained that the employee promised me several times that my interest rate and borrower incentives would not change, and that I would not have agreed to the program if the rates increased. Nelnet refused to change my interest rate or add my incentives back onto the account unless I agreed to exit the forbearance program. Given that we are in the midst of a global pandemic, my family has faced several additional costs. I have already allocated the money that was to be paid to Nelnet to other sources. All I am asking Nelnet to do is to stick to their original promise. To do otherwise is deceptive, dishonest, and should be illegal.

Consumer Complaint: To Whom it May Concern : I am writing this letter to notify you of a continuing violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( Section 609 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ) ) and the Fair Collection Practices Act committed by Great Lakes. After several acts of disputes and letter submissions made on my end, each attempt proved futile. At times, some of the requests made were not even acknowledged with a response. As I attach some of the articles in this compliant evidencing correspondence that took place, it is unequivocally clear that I never made a refusal to pay, but gave notice that the claims alleged were disputed. Due to their negligence, noncompliance, and refusal to delete UNVERIFIED information from my consumer file, it has cost me tremendously in regards to employment opportunities, residency approvals, loan/credit line approvals, and administrative fees for the dispute process.
