Subissue: Fees charged
Consumer Complaint: I was unsuccessful demanding Navy Federal Credit Union immediately reverse an erroneous late fee charge and credit my Home Equity Line of Credit in the amount of {$31.00} which I paid. The basis for my refund request is that Navy Federal XXXX ) systemically abuses late fee charges for payments received on time ; and XXXX ) improperly retains late fee charges Navy Federal is not entitled to for a under the guise of a fake and unnecessary 10-day investigation period. On XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, in the amount {$770.00} to Navy Federal. See attached. Navy Federal acknowledged receipt of the check on XX/XX/2023, with a notation " XXXX XX/XX/2023 XXXX '' on the reverse side of the check. Notwithstanding Navy Federal 's possession of the check on XX/XX/XXXX, a late fee of {$31.00} was assessed. Navy Federal processed the check for payment on XX/XX/2023 as noted on the back of the check. Funds were withdrawn from the XXXX bank account on XX/XX/2023. On XX/XX/2023, I contacted Navy Federal and requested the charge be immediately reversed as erroneous and was told I had to wait at least ten days for an investigation to be completed. However, as the notation on the back of the check made clear, there is nothing to investigate since Navy Federal 's own records/notation acknowledged possession of the check on XX/XX/2023 ( within the time period to be considered on time per Navy Federal 's XXXX ). Also, Navy Federal refused to provide/confirm this information currently within their holdings. Lastly, I believe Navy Federal systemically abuses late fee charges in contravention of internal policy because I was told a prior payment late fee had been waived ( without my knowledge that Navy Federal even considered the payment late ).

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning issue regarding a disputed debt and the ownership of my vehicle, which involves Navy Federal Credit Union. I believe that the situation has reached a point where I may need to pursue legal action in federal court to resolve this matter. On XX/XX/2023, I submitted a negotiable instrument to Navy Federal Credit Union in an attempt to settle a debt. Per the provisions of UCC 3-603, this instrument, once accepted, should have discharged my obligation related to the debt. However, Navy Federal Credit Union did not accept the negotiable instrument, and as a result, I am still being pursued for the debt. Moreover, I have been receiving repeated correspondence from Navy Federal Credit Union claiming that my documents are not valid, despite my efforts to resolve this matter amicably. This situation has caused significant distress and inconvenience. Given the circumstances and the clear provisions of UCC 3-603, I am of the belief that I am no longer liable for the debt in question, and Navy Federal Credit Union should have released the title to my vehicle accordingly. I kindly request that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau investigate this matter to ensure that Navy Federal Credit Union complies with the applicable regulations and that my rights as a consumer are upheld. If necessary, I am prepared to pursue legal action in federal court to rectify this situation and assert my rights. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a prompt resolution. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX *******Please see attached documents*******

Issue: Problem with a purchase shown on your statement
Subissue: Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against Navy Federal for denying my fraud claim, citing " conflicting information, '' when the unauthorized charges were not made or authorized by me. On XX/XX/XXXX, I observed unauthorized charges totaling {$4200.00} on my Navy Federal credit card statement, prompting me to file a credit card dispute with the institution. However, to my dismay, on XX/XX/XXXX, I discovered that the provisional credit, previously issued for the disputed charges, was reversed due to " conflicting information. '' I find it disconcerting that Navy Federal repeatedly fails to address unauthorized charges, creating an impression of ongoing negligence or disregard for their customers ' financial well-being. In response to the reversal of the provisional credit, I immediately filed an appeal and demanded a thorough investigation and reconsideration of this matter. Despite my efforts, Navy Federal has been uncooperative, even threatening to suspend my account. It is my strong belief that Navy Federal is not upholding its obligations under the federal consumer financial law, particularly in regard to the proper handling of credit card disputes. As per the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, I am entitled to a prompt investigation of any unauthorized charges made to my account. Sadly, Navy Federal has failed to provide any supporting evidence for their " conflicting information '' claim. Therefore, I kindly request a comprehensive explanation of the findings regarding my dispute and a timely resolution of this matter. I implore the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to intervene and hold Navy Federal accountable for their negligent practices, ensuring they adhere to federal regulations and provide fair and just resolutions for their customers. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further information or clarification. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will investigate my complaint promptly and take appropriate action to alleviate this unjust situation.
