Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: The Department of Education refuses to be accountable even after being sued! In XXXX I received email correspondence regarding my student loans with XXXX XXXX I proceeded to complete the application under the assumption that it was because they are the same school. It was only until XXXX of this year ( XXXX ) that I was told I had to complete a separate application for XXXX and XXXXXXXX XXXX I immediately completed the application for those 2 additional schools. The application I completed in XX/XX/XXXX has been addressed and the loans are in pending discharge status. I have several issues : 1- no one is accountable. The information I was provided initially did NOT guide me te complete an application for each school. In fact, there was minimal information on the website in XXXX Why are we employing individuals that are not equipped to provide information to borrowers that allows proper expectation setting and less phone calls? 2 : The process is already drawn out and flawed. I don't understand why, if you have already reviewed my loans and you SEE two additional schools that ARE on the list AND there are 2 pending applications, for whatever reason- why not address them all at that time?? Why should I have to wait 3 years? 3 : my last complaint was open and unaddressed for 6 months. When it was closed, the note stated it appeared my issues were addressed. No, they were not as that I have more than 1 issue. They just closed out the complaint. The prior 2 supervisor callbacks also went unanswered. If the department is overwhelmed and can not hire individuals that are accountable, again, I shouldn't receive the penalty for that. The excuse I was given as to why it has taken so long on the XXXX discharge is because I have multiple loans AND a consolidation. To me, that means someone is having to review and separate the loans SO if that's the case, why can't they review the XXXX and XXXX applications while my application is ALREADY under review? I called the Ombudsman line and was basically told that the Dept of Ed is never accountable, the issues that come through are logged, and its basically what it is. There is not a pathway to resolution and essentially I just have to wait on 3 years to pass before my other 2 loans are reviewed and discharged.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments
Consumer Complaint: I was recently laid off from my position effective XX/XX/23. I called Navient to discuss repayment options for someone that is unemployed. I was previously on a rate reduction program, in which my monthly payments were {$580.00}. The program ended in XXXX, so I was calling to extend the program- which I have been able to do for the last several years. They were not able to assist and said there were no options for me. My monthly payment now is more than double at {$1300.00}. The customer service agent suggested I not pay this month 's bill, hurt my credit, then see what options *may* be available next month. She would not allow any temporary deferment or forbearance.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Consumer Complaint: Hi, My loans since XXXX have been at a fixed interest rate for over XXXX. Now some of my loans are in variable interest rates and fixed. My interest rates has not changed in over 20 years on my loans. I have never consolidated my loans due to this. Now all of my loans have high interest rates and were closed and reopened on my credit report I don't know how this is even possible. Another complaint I have is each time I worked with XXXX XXXX and was not able to make payment on my loans the customer service agents either put my loans in deferment or forberance. Where if I was guided on income repayment plan most of my loans would be paid off or completed in XXXX. Navient aquired my loans in XXXX about and did the same thing. I have also worked in non profit organizations for XXXX years but then was told that my loans don't approve for forgiveness plan even though I worked in a lower paying job for this option when I was appplying for forgiveness. My sister told me about the IDR plan XXXX years ago. so all of my loans are on a XXXX year idr plan. In XXXX my IDR was in review and I accured late payments on my loans even though the student loan payments were in grace untill XX/XX/XXXX. Navient is stating they didn't have to follow this due to being a private loan company. I feel like XXXX XXXX and navient are corrupt companies and honestly should be about done with my student loans. Also if they would educate people about the right payment plans maybe people would not be in such issues on student loans.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I set up a payment plan and Navient has been taking out {$160.00} per month on the XXXX. That payment was supposed to be divided evenly between my XXXX accts. It was not and XXXX account was not receiving any of my payment. This has happened several times in the past couple of years. Each time, I've been able to contact Navient and the issue gets fixed. However, now Navient is threatening me and my co-signed with default. They call multiple times per day and harass both me and my father ( co-signer ). I spoke with XXXX XXXX days ago. She said that now there is nothing we can do, even though it was the error of the Navient worker for not splitting the payments between the XXXX accts. I was informed that I have XXXX options. We can either pay {$6500.00} and be done with Navient or {$4800.00}, which would release my co-signer. I explained that we can not do this and she told me that Navient would move forward with attorneys. This is ridiculous. There is no way I can afford any sort of wage garnishment when this can be handled to fix THEIR error. I am so sick of dealing with this XXXX style bully tactic. I'll add that XXXX told me that when the economy took a hit so did Navient and they WILL get their money back. I've submitted multiple complaints on here and it doesn't go anywhere. I want someone to contact me with more than their " XXXX '' options, threats of wage garnishment ; and/or their aggressive XXXX 's ( " we're going to go after your business '' ) XXXX 's they've left XXXX times per day for my parents.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing to file a formal complaint against XXXX for repeatedly inaccurately reporting the delinquency dates of several accounts held with Navient on my credit report. Despite multiple attempts to rectify this issue directly with XXXX, the erroneous information persists, adversely affecting my credit score and financial standing. Key Details of the Dispute : Original Delinquency Date : The accounts in question became delinquent in XXXX This date should legally mark the commencement of the seven-year period for the information to remain on my credit report, as mandated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Last Payment Date : The last payment made on these accounts was in XXXXXXXX However, this payment did not bring the accounts current. According to the FCRA, the date of the first delinquency should remain the start date for the seven-year reporting period, even if subsequent payments were made. Evidence Submitted : In my disputes with XXXX, I have provided clear evidence, including account statements and records, confirming that the delinquency date for these accounts was indeed in XXXX and not XXXXXXXX Repeated Disputes and Lack of Resolution : Despite providing adequate evidence and engaging in multiple disputes, XXXX has failed to correct the delinquency dates on these accounts. This continued misreporting demonstrates either a significant oversight in their dispute resolution process or a willful neglect of accurate credit reporting practices. Impact on Me : This incorrect information has unjustly lowered my credit score, potentially affecting my ability to obtain credit, secure housing, or even gain employment. The emotional and financial stress caused by this inaccuracy can not be overstated.

Consumer Complaint: Navient student loans is calling me up to 8 times a day for loan payments that are not even 30 days late. The payment is high, so I have to make it when I get paid. When I asked them why they called so much, they said the state of South Carolina allows them To call me once an hour. Ive received over 30 calls in the last 7 days. This is excessive, especially for a loan Ive been paying for over 10 years and have never fallen 30 days past due.
