Consumer Complaint: Receive constant threats from so many different companies about student loans that I can't keep track. Recently I received a threat from XXXX threatening to garnish my wages at my new job. This is in addition to XXXX XXXX XXXX, Navient, XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. I have written letters to every one of these companies requesting validation of debt and letters disputing the validity of this debt and they never respond, or they send me a promissory note from XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX which was paid off in XXXX they have a list of 10+/- student loans from years I was not enrolled in school. They have completely ruined my life, my credit, several jobs for 18 years. I have done everything in my power to rectify this situation but they simply pass it off to a different company. They have put 36 pages worth of negative reports on the 3 credit reporting agencies, I have disputed the records but nothing was done. In XXXX I was so sick of the stress from these companies and the constant harassment and contacting my employer, that I called them back and settled the debt ( that I didn't even owe ) just so they would leave me alone. I paid them {$5900.00} with the promise of a letter stating all student loan debt was satisfied in full and a list of loans covered in the agreement XX/XX/XXXX! As soon as they got the money they never sent the satisfaction letter, put all of the money to INTEREST ONLY on 3 loans not a single dollar to principle and put all the loans back in default and reported to 3 credit bureaus. They have levied my tax return for 10years without proper notification or proof of debt. I also paid another company {$140.00} a month for loan Rehab they never paid {$1.00} towards my loans & defaulted me again.

Consumer Complaint: I've been offset again this year for loans. I'm not sure what the meaning of economic hardship means to the Dept of Education, but I'm a single parent, with five dependents. My income is below the poverty level, one of my children is XXXX and receives SSI due to the lack of income. I don't understand how I don't qualify to file for a hardship even if I had to apply two years ago and my income has decreased since then??? My family is homeless, and I have a vehicle that is in need of repairs. We live in a rural area where there's no public transportation to get around, and simply can't afford to have this money taken away. I got no letter, the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX did not provide the most up to date info in reference to offset info. I was under the impression that this was a legal requirement. I need help here please.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I checked my account as I made two recent large payments, one of which was canceled upon my request as it was made from the wrong bank account. I had decided to also check my account history for the life of all loans. I noticed " loan sale '' in the list of transactions and I called to inquire about it. The representative suggested I sort the history " by loan '' and I will see that a loan sale is the transfer from one service provider to another and it will not impact my balance. Sorting " by loan '' did show the additional column of " balance '' which helped me understand that my balance had not been impacted by this loan sale transaction. Upon further review, I noticed that on 9 different signature student loans, my entire payment being made ( one lump sum payment made and spread across all loans ), 100 % of the payment was going towards interest only from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. For 6 years, ( a total of 68 payments ) my payments were only being applied to interest. Over that period of time, I paid {$17000.00} in interest only while my principal balance was not impacted. I checked my wife 's account with Sallie Mae/Navient as well as my own Stafford loan I also had through this company and these loans were not treated the same way. My Stafford loan payment application was roughly 85 % principal and 15 % interest for the life of the loan. My wife 's loan which is the same loan type as the 9 aforementioned loans of mine, had a payment application of roughly 50 % principal and 50 % interest and had increased to roughly 75 % principal and 25 % interest later on in the life of the loan. I was never educated on my loan payment application percentages and I never gave permission for interest only payments for the period of XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I never made any changes on or after XX/XX/XXXX to payment application percentages. The company made these changes on their own accord without my knowledge. This has caused me to overpay a large amount of interest. With my principal balance not changing for 6 years, the interest on XX/XX/XXXX and after XX/XX/XXXX was based on a much larger principal than it would have otherwise been, had the payments been properly applied to both the principal and interest.

Consumer Complaint: Navient 's website now forces borrowers to pay a month in advance ( payments that are not even yet due ) before it will allow them to make a payment on a past due amount - even if only past due by 1 day. This happened to me in XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. Each month, I logged in to make my payment and was confronted with a screen saying I had a past due amount, but that in order to pay it, I also had to pay the NEXT month 's amount due as well. No option is given to simply pay the past due amount. An amount that was past due by one day in each month. This is a deceptive trade practice, and Navient should correct the issue immediately. Customer service representative on XX/XX/XXXX told me there is nothing they can do about it, but agreed that " it's dumb. ''

Consumer Complaint: I have a debt with Navient Dept. of Education because I had a deferment and I divorced an moved to a different part in PR. During that period they use Debt collectors to find me. XXXX XXXX has now my account but they give it to XXXX. XXXX is asking me to make 9 payments of {$5.00}. They asked me for information that I am not willing to give since I am able to pay monthly to Navient. I asked them to please return my account to Navient or XXXX XXXX so I can start making my monthly payments but they refuse. I even tried to tell them that I can pay the {$45.00} dollars in one payment to make this fast and they refused. I am able to make the monthly payments to Navient again ... I don't like people asking me and harassing me with calls if I don't agree with them with a reason and it should be another company ( XXXX XXXX ) the one contacting me.

XX/XX/XXXX We are approaching the deadline to renew your repayment plan for year two. Each year we must reapply for the correct repayment plan in order to ensure that we are making your monthly student loan payments as affordable as possible. In order for us to do this effectively, we need some information from you : most recent tax return, your two most recent paystubs, drivers license ( if you have changed your name ), and family size. Providing us with this information in a timely manner will insure that we are able to submit your application to the correct repayment program on time.
If we do not receive this information, it will result in your repayment program defaulting to a standard 10 year plan. This could increase your payment drastically as you will be expected to pay your full loan balance within the next ten years. If you don't want your payments to increase please submit your updated information as soon as possible.
We look forward to managing your loans in year two using our expertise to keep your payment as low as possible.
Please contact us as soon as possible at XXXX so that we may answer any questions that you may have.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/XXXX I had a payment due with Navient and autopay was setup on wrong account. I was charged a NSF of {$0.00}. I paid this XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX,XX/XX/XXXX. I called too many times to count. Calls are r ecorded also. I will never be able to pay off {$0.00} unless I pay entire balance and payments are not able to allocated to this {$0.00} only if What several reps over 5 months have told me. I also on income based repayment plan of {$0.00} but still have to pay {$0.00} each month. Navient is stealing money since no customer are able to get correct information and uncomfortably long wait times that you feel you should apply for a position with them since you have to put aside at least 3 hours for any situation.
