Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Old information reappears or never goes away
Consumer Complaint: I have disputed this outdated information several times. They remove it and then wait and add it back with a later date. The loans are from XX/XX/2003. IRS has garnished taxes to pay balances yet they are still being reported.

Consumer Complaint: Navient placed me into and Income Driven Repayment Plan ( IDR ) and kept me in an IDR payment plan without my consent or even an application. Also, according to my credit report, their website, and my account statements, there is a large disagreement on the outstanding balance which has the tendency to change by large amounts on any given month that are not consistent with my payments. Furthermore, the company is not putting any of my payment towards the principle of my unsubsidized loans, just interest. I was under the impression when I set up my auto-pay that I was entering into a standard repayment plan as I know that this is the most financially healthy option in the long run. The company is taking advantage of me and has placed me in a situation that is going to cost way more money. I have asked for a solution and explanations and I was told that someone would look over my account and I have heard nothing else. Why should I be expected to uphold my agreement, when Navient has not held theirs and has hurt me financially in the long run?

Consumer Complaint: I have a student loan being serviced with Navient. My payments are due on the XXXX of every month. This month, XXXX, I was working a lot of hours and realized I forgot to make my payment. When I logged on XX/XX/19 I noticed my loan balance was {$140.00} higher than it was last month. I've been tracking the balance and payment application for a while. I assume this is a late fee, but I was only 3 days late and this seems really excessive. I tried calling customer service and the number I called had two options one to speak with someone about loan forgiveness and the other sent me to survey about vacation and when I declined it hung up. I tried calling back several times, and each time received a different message and was not able to get the call to go through. I've made several complaints against the Navient as I feel the payments aren't being applied correctly and I've see what appears to be interest charges I don't understand. I've called in the past and have not been able to get a sufficient explanation. Now it appears I can't even speak with anyone regarding my account. I know they have a lot of class action law suites open but what are borrows who have them supposed to do if they can't even speak to someone about their loans anymore?

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I consolidated my student loans. Navient became the my creditor. First off they said I received a $ XXXXXXXX refund after the consolidation, which I never received or even heard about. When I originally had my loans consolidated by the XXXX XXXX XXXX they were $ XXXXXXXX ( approx. ) When I began making payments to Navient, my loans were suddenly over {$80000.00} ( approx ). I have been paying on these loans since XX/XX/XXXX monthly and they haven't decreased at all. I called Navient to find out how I could address my student loan debt as my principle amount continued to increase despite payments recommended by Navient. I asked about loan forgiveness because I worked for a non-profit drug and alcohol treatment program as a counselor for many years. I was told that Navient did not offer loan forgiveness. I asked the young woman if there was someone else I could speak to about my options and she told me she was the supervisor and she wished she could help me, she understood my frustration because she had student loans herself she had to pay back. There was nothing they could do for me. I said how can my loans be increasing if I am paying the interest plus principle ( approx $ XXXX. ). She said she didn't know. Several months later I called again as I had resigned from my position and was on unemployment. Navient instructed me to get a forbearance on my loans. I did so until I was off unemployment and employed again. They suggested I 2xs that I do an interest only re-payment plan. I believe Navient manipulated my ignorance and did not guide me well with repayment options. I believed that Navient misguided me into a forbearance as well as an interest only payment to profit from my ignorance. I further believe that Navient either recorded a refund that they never sent me or that this refund as a result of my loan consolidation was fabricated for their benefit. Finally I believe that Navient hires debt counselors that are not qualified to advise students about their debts to Navient. Taking advantage of students for profit is wrong. Thank you for looking into this.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX claimed they would be able to help with my student loans, they claim that they could take over my student loan payments, saying that they could lower my payments, and make them as low as {$45.00} per month. This all took place in XX/XX/XXXX. They then told me until my file was reviewed I would have to make a monthly payment of {$130.00} that was going towards my student loans. Every month on the XXXX, this was taken out of my account by automatic withdraw. I continued to make these payments until XX/XX/XXXX, when I came to find out that my file was still not reviewed and was not going to be reviewed anytime soon. Upon calling and making a request as to why it was not taken care of, I was given the run around and no answer was given. They also withdrew the funds earlier than what was agreed upon. I even tried to cancel the service, but I was unable to because of the run around I would get and all the processes I would have to go through to get it taken care of. This would lead to promises that my file was under review but as the next month came around it was still in the same spot as last month, and my student load debt was not going down any. I was finally able to end services in XX/XX/XXXX, but I received a letter shortly after that, from Navient Student Loan Services, saying that they hadn't received a payment from me. When I called them and explained the situation they said they had no record of XXXX XXXX contacting them to set up any kind of arrangements.

Consumer Complaint: I have contacted Navient many times about reducing the low income plan due to my fixed income. They have the reduction for two or three months, which I disagreed with the offer. They stated, " They do not have low income at that time for long term. '' I told them, " I need a permanent plan according to my income. '' I looked around, they did a forbearance on the loan. I like to pay on the loan according to my income. This is my second complaint regarding the loan. Also, Navient overcharging late fees.

Consumer Complaint: I have been paying on my loans since 2010 and the balances have barely decreased. Tried to make arrangements and the still closed one of my accounts. They have been calling me and my dad ( co-signer ) about late payments even after I paid on the balance. They sent me a repayment amount for the only open account, which I have been paying, and still send emails saying I am delinquent and owe more money. The system will not allow me to make payments each month even though if it is above the amount my monthly payment is. They now tell me I have to pay on the closed account because they still collect money for it even though I have sent money to the debt collector my account was sent to. I have asked for statements and monthly payment requirements but get different answers each time I call. They still have not sent all my statements for all loans, what Ive paid, & the balances due. I cant get into the account online. It always says The account is disabled. I have asked on several calls to them for this to be corrected but they have not fixed the problem.

Consumer Complaint: Navient services both my federal and private loans. I've had many issues over the years with Sallie Mae and Navient, but this one really got me. I see Navient pulling money out of my account each month and hadn't received any calls, so I assumed everything was okay. I get a call today that says I'm behind, but I'm curious why since I see the money pulled every month. Apparently the last person I talked to set up my payment schedule to the wrong amount so I was underpaying each month, which made me delinquent. I'm done dealing with these people. They don't want to help you. I've also been paying on this for 10 years and have gained XXXX in interest and now owe nearly XXXX for a 2 year degree from a now defunct for profit school. Thanks mega corporations! Keep us enslaved!
