Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: I have been paying on my loans for several years with occasional deferments due to internship and residency. I received a letter dated this past XXXX stating I have not made my first 12 payments on time and that a 1 % and .5 % loan credit is being retracted. I called to get information about this situation to which I was told a payment was made late. The school I am attending automatically put my account into " in-school deferment '' which I did not ask for. I called to request this be reversed. I was told it was. I made payments according to bills received and income-based payment plan. Again when starting the next class of my program I was put into " in-school deferment '' which I did not ask for. When I called I was told that is automatic and can not be reversed " until the six month deferment runs out, but you're more than welcome to make payments on those accounts. '' I have continued to make payments only to be told that one month was late ... a month that was in the middle of this in-school deferment I did not request. I was informed years ago when setting up payments that there is a " grace period '' in which to make payments with no penalty. On my last phone call I was told " there is no grace period. '' With this retracted rate, this had added approximately {$30000.00} more to my credit report and student loan debt.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: High interest rates on my student loans through Navient. The interest rate is 12 % which is Usury, the act of lending money at an interest rate that is considered unreasonably high to the financial health of the loan repayer. My mother died when I was XXXX just three years before I started college. I was raised by a single father that had bad credit due to medical bills from my dead mother. My father lost his job in XXXX and has seen an income reduction. I have been unable to find reasonable employment. In XXXX I sued the University of XXXX for denying me a part time marketing position. They wanted me to have XXXX twitter followers which was illegal under michigan law. I won the lawsuit against XXXX of XXXX They did not care about my marketing degree from The University of XXXX which I pay navient and exorbitantly high interest rate on. I was told this degree would unlock my future, not lock up my future. My degree is worthless and Im underwater as the result of predatory lending practices by Navient and Sallie Mae. Im stuck in life with the burden of student loan debt. This is a systematic scam on the American people. How can you lend money without considering economic conditions in the labor market? How can you lend money to 1000 marketing degree majors when there are only going to be 100 marketing jobs in the market? Navients lending was negligent and only sought to make profits. They never cared about the borrower. See you in court Navient.

My credit has been forever been messed up due to this massive student loan debt and Navient never told me that with the account in forberance they charged me and excessively on the student loan. I am unable to get a house or live. XXXX XXXX college messed up my life like Navient did. I was never offered a repayment plan until XXXX XXXX now my loan is in the XXXX how can I pay this. I explained that to Navient and they always placed my loans in forbearance and never offered any other options. Now I'm stuck with such a high balance on my student loan.

Consumer Complaint: I went to college and in the middle of going to college I I got XXXX. I had to stop attending college and could not defer my loans anymore due to the fact that I was XXXX after the XXXX. I was found officially XXXX by Social Security, and now I live on XXXX only. I have no way of paying back these loans. I have asked Navient for the dismissal paperwork due to official XXXX many times, but they wont send the papers, and will NOT consider loan forgiveness, and the statute of limitations is OUT from a lot of these loans now, its been 7 years for many of them, and I want them taken off my credit report! my private student lender ( Navient ) said I couldn't dismiss the loans I got. I have tried to get the paperwork from Navient, but they wont send it. the statute of limitations ( 7 years ) has run out on a lot of these loans, and they're still on my credit report. I want them removed now. all the credit monitoring sites still have them listed, and I cant find where to dispute the listings. I need help getting these removed from my credit report.

Consumer Complaint: I was told by Navient that I needed to consolidate my loans and go on forbearance during that process. I was not sure if this was the correct answers and since have been working directly with the Federal Student loan department and now feel that I am finally on the right track to help my family get out from under this debt.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2017 I told Navient that I would be applying for PSLF and wanted to consolidate my loans just thinking it would be easier to track one loan. I was not informed that consolidating my loans would nullify the payments prior to consolidating them while I was in a public service roll. I did not find out until after consolidating my loan and being transferred to XXXX that was the result.

Consumer Complaint: I have excessive student loan debt with Navient. My loans were placed into programs that do not allow for them to qualify for the public service forgiveness program. I was under the impression my loans would qualify, however when I submitted my paperwork I was denied and it was stated my loan terms did not qualify. This was never communicated to me when my loans were acquired. I have only ever worked in the XXXX XXXX field. My loans are a financial burden ; I basically work to pay my student loan debt. I have had to cash out XXXXks and still am nowhere close to paying them off. The compiled interest makes it impossible to payoff until I retire ; I owe almost 2x the amount I originally borrowed.

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: For the past weeks, I have been receiving telephone calls from Navient representatives. I have asked not to be recorded. Navient representatives continue attempts to record me without my permission to do so. Each time I receive a telephone call, Navient representatives ignores my request of not wanting to be recorded. For example, Navient representative telephoned me again this morning ( XX/XX/2019 ) at approximately XXXX XXXX, Eastern Standard Time stating that it is their standard policy to record their telephones. I have asked Navient representatives to contact me only in writing. I ask that Navient representatives to stop calling me. I am being harassed and will not permit it to continue, I will take legal action. I have already responded to their correspondences and made loan payments as scheduled.

Consumer Complaint: I went to XXXX/XXXX college and graduated. I did this despite barely attending classes and never doing any homework. I was pressured into attending the school by telling me that I would be guaranteed to make XXXX dollars upon graduation and that the program had 100 percent job placement. I was excited, but after one week of classes I realized it was impossible to fail. We were allowed to look up the answers online.
