Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I acquired a personal loan through Sallie Mae with a cosigner. I set up a payment arrangements with Sallie Mae through a direct debit and then I received a letter saying that Sallie Mae was now Navient and that they would be handling by private loan. Everything was fine for about a year and then I lost my job. Navient starts harassing my cosigner. My cosigner set up payment arrangements for credit worthiness purposes. Then all the sudden they would send letters and would start calling at XXXX XXXX about a payment that had cleared at the bank XXXX days before it was due!!! Payments were misappropriated. The customer service representatives were like The Stepford Wives. I would ask to speak to a supervisor or someone in a higher position this person would take care of the situation reallocate the money the next month the same thing would happen and they would have no idea about my conversation with a supervisor the prior month ; even though the conversation was monitored and recorded for quality assurance purposes. This company is a joke!!! The XXXX XXXX XXXX says Navient has an A+ rating. I still owe {$1500.00} on a {$2800.00} loan I started paying on in 2011. Do I need to hire a Dream Team to take care of the situation?

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I called to see if I could lower my monthly payment, I was told no because I have a co-signer on file and was recommend to get my co-signer to be released. My first problem was speaking to representative XXXX is number XXXX who had an attitude and could not provide me with the proper information of if I am eligible for co-signer release, after being on the phone with her for 30 mins, I was frustrated and requested to speak to a supervisor to complain. She put me on hold for 25 mins and 32 seconds additional and I was able to speak to XXXX Id XXXX. Long story short I do not qualify for co-signer release form because I missed one of of 12 months of consecutive payments, I was late by 2 days ( holiday weekend ) of making a payment in XX/XX/XXXX and now I have restart making all my payments for another 12 months. In addition my co-signer does not help me financially, he only help put his name on the application. Long story short I have to come up with XXXX dollars a month for student loans, pay a car note, mortgage and some how provide for my daughter ... I was told there was nothing to be done and my credit score if high enough so I can manage the payment. Just soo disappointed with this educational process.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't temporarily delay making payments

Consumer Complaint: I have been harassed regarding several private student loans that my son XXXX XXXX borrowed from Sallie Mae now Navient Student loan in XX/XX/XXXX. My son attended the University of XXXX for XXXX XXXX. He ask me to sign as a cosigner for one loan of XXXX. I had no knowledge that my son cosigned my name by computer for 3 private Sallie Mae loans in XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX I filed for bankruptcy Chapter XXXX along with my spouse. During the bankruptcy 5 year period Navient never contacted me regarding any loan obligations that they purchased from Sallie Mae Private student loans. My bankruptcy Chapter XXXX plan ended in XX/XX/XXXX. I am currently XXXX XXXX and have not worked in 7 years, .I had 2 XXXX XXXX and 3 XXXX XXXX, 2 XXXX XXXX and 2 XXXX XXXX. The health problems that I have left me unemployed and dependent on my spouse for XXXX payments and unpaid medical bills. Navient has written, emailed and called my family members and neighbors regarding my son 's loans. I agree with Navient that the loans need to be repaid. I explained my situation to Social Security and Navient. In XX/XX/XXXX Navient agreed to send me a package of papers for the 5 doctors and specialist that currently see me for my total XXXX. I was told to send the forms to the doctors of record and they ( Navient ) would place my name for cancellation of these loans. Navient was sent all documentation from the XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX and XXXX. Navient refuses to remove my name from all these private student loans depite the paper work that the sent to me stating that they would honor the discharge from these loans if I would have the doctors to provide the information that qualifies me to be XXXX XXXX I have sent the letters to my son to remove my name as a cosigner on his loans. Navient tells me I can not request to be remove from his loans. They said only he can ask for my name to be remove. Yet Navient stated a cosigner name is only required for 2 years on their loans. Navient tells me by letter after they receive my paper work requesting discharge from the one loan I sign not three loans that my son XXXX XXXX signed. They stated we honor disbilities and will work with you at first, then they send a letter stating since your not the borrower we can not honor your request for loan discharge due to you being XXXX XXXX. Navient refused to honor federal standards for private student loans. My credit is ruin by Navient charging 100 % interest he borrowed XXXX in private student loans for XXXX school. Now Navient reactivated the loans without my request to remain as a charge off on my credit report. All correspondence that is mail to me never includes my sons name XXXX XXXX. It only includes my nmae stating it is a joint responsibility account. If it is supposed to be equal responsibility as a joint account then why is Navient not honoring my request for permanent XXXX if they claim I have the same responsibility as the borrower. I wrote a complaint regarding this matter before in XX/XX/XXXX. Still today Navient is harassing me and refuse to accept my inability to pay the students loans that were sign in my name without my signature. Navient continues to say they have an electronic signature when I never signed but one loan for my son. It is XX/XX/XXXX and Navient is still harassing me and other collection agency robocall my home daily. I do have the paper work to show what Navient wrote me in XX/XX/XXXX stating they would work with me to discharge loans based on me being XXXX XXXX..My son is not disable and should pay Navient for their loans that he took out for XXXX school at The University of XXXX . I am just confused and frustrated that Navient lie to me and told me they would honor the discharge of the loans for as I am concerned. I did my part in sending them the documentation from Social Security and my doctors and Specialist that are in charge of my multiple XXXX. Navient sent the package for me to provide the doctors with to fill out regarding my conditions. Two months later Navient send a letter with no signature stating we honor disabilties but not for cosigners. This whole experience has taken terrible emotional stressors on me. I am unable to pay Navient for a grown son XXXX years old now and have not spoke with me in 7 years. I sent letter requesting him my son to request my name to be removed from any fradulent accounts. He returns the mail without opening it. I never cashed any checks or deposited any of Navient ( Sallie Maes loans ) in my account. If any name was sign it was forged by my son not me.

Consumer Complaint: XX/XX/19, XX/XX/19, and XX/XX/19 - Payments in the amount of {$500.00} each made. Interest accrued for the month is approximately {$460.00}. Difference of approximately {$43.00} each month not being applied to the principle. XX/XX/19 - Additional {$100.00} payment made prior to next payment. Went towards interest. Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I have had many issues over the years with Navient and my student loans. Back in 2013 I believe, they seemingly purposefully misallocated {$20.00} of my $ 100+ payment in order to charge me a late fee and call my co-signer to collect more money from them even though I had submitted the full payment amount. They also unrolled me multiple times from automatic payments without notification then contacted my co-signer for money before contacting me. Most recently AFTER they allowed me to use the max hardship deferral time, they then told me about a program to lower my interest and therefore drastically lower my payments. They allowed me to do this for about 2 years but now say I do not qualify even tho my income and expenses have hardly changed. Now since unrolling in the program, they have jacked my interest up to over 11 % and they give me no options to lower it. I am now re-enrolled in school and they are already showing signs of being difficult about adjusting my payment for in school deferment.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: In 2016 I filled litigation with my bankruptcy against the student loan companies I owed money too. XXXX, XXXX, Sallie Mae, ie, natvient, ie XXXX, is all the same company I borrowed loans from. When I could not repay, I filed and made an arrangement with navients lawyers and my lawyer. Navient decided to discharge the debts owed to them. Navient is still trying to Collect said debts and is still Reporting to the credit agencies when this was resolved in 2016. This needs to stop. I have disputed these debts. I also have tried to talk with the companies. Twice, I also have mailed copy of the court documents stating that navient agrees to discharge my debts to all 3 credit companies. Navient, sallie mae, and XXXX needs to stop reaffirming a debt they agreed to discharge.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I received Fed Direct Loans when I was at XXXX XXXX University and at University of XXXX - XXXX XXXX. The Fed Direct Loans would be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which I have been participating in for over 10 years, working for XXXX XXXX and a XXXX XXXX. After graduation, Navient ( then Sallie Mae ) solicited me for loan consolidation. They actively solicited on campus, email, and direct mail marketing to me and other young recent graduates. They never advised, told, asked for permission, or gave me any information about re-categorizing my loan so as to make it in-eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. I made over 10 years ' worth of on-time payments to my loans while working in public service. I submitted the annual check-in form to document my employment status. Navient / Sallie Mae never advised, informed, asked for consent, or gave any other information that they were treating my loan consolidation as ineligible for the program. It was only after 10 years of payments that they tried to tell me that my loan is not an eligible type. I have my original loan document showing that all of my loans were Fed Direct Loans that should qualify. Navient / Sallie Mae changed the category of my loan without my knowledge, consent, or information, and therefore made my loans ineligible for the program. This is not right and an abuse of their position. Thank you. I am not the only borrower with this complaint. It appears to be a systematic practice of deception and misinformation by this company to abuse and take advantage of young college graduates.

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I began receiving numerous calls multiple times per day. On XX/XX/2019, I returned a call and was taunted by a representative by the name of XXXX who threatened " we will call you everyday 8 times a day until your debt is settled ''. On XX/XX/2019, I mailed out cease and desist letters to both the Federal and Private loans departments of Navient requesting for Navient to " cease and desist communication with me, as well as my family and friends in relation to this and all other alleged debts ''. However they have continued to violate my rights under the federal debt collection laws by contacting my family and friends despite supervisor XXXX XXXX confirming receipt of cease and desist correspondences on XX/XX/2019.

Consumer Complaint: Hello, I have made several attempts to just get an explanation of each student loan I have with Navient. Each time I call, I do not get answers. I have 17 student loans which I have paid over {$44000.00} already. Loan 1 I owe {$3500.00} 2-Paid Off {$2800.00} 3-I owe {$2000.00} 4- Paid Off {$1200.00} 5- {$3100.00} I owe 6-Paid Off {$2300.00} 7-Paid off {$1900.00} 8- I owe {$3500.00} 9- I paid off {$2000.00} 10- I owe {$5500.00} 11-Paid Off {$320.00} 12-Paid Off {$120.00} 13-Paid Off XXXX 14- Paid Off {$1700.00} 15-Paid Off {$8400.00} 16-Paid Off but they have no info 17-I owe {$8000.00} I have paid in total just under {$45000.00}. If you add up what I have paid from above, this does not add up to that amount. I keep simply asking where is the rest of my money? Where has it gone to since the above adds up to only about {$23000.00}. And they are saying I still owe over {$25000.00} more. Each time I call they can not explain it to me and keep telling me someone will call me back. This has been going on since XX/XX/2019. I have all the proof of what has been paid and I just want more answers. Thank you, XXXX
