Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Received bad information about your loan
Consumer Complaint: My loan servicer is Navient. After my teacher loan forgiveness application was denied, I was told that I would qualify for the Public Service loan forgiveness program and that I would need to make 120 payments for 10 years and that I would need to apply after I have made these payments. I was not informed of any additional steps or actions that I needed to complete in order to qualify for this. I have been enrolled in the income based repayment plan for the last 8 years and I just found out that I should've been completing the employment certification for Public Service loan forgiveness every 12 months. Navient never informed me of this and now after I have been paying my loans back for the past 8 years, under the impression that I only had 2 more years left and that in 2 years I would be eligible to pay but this is not the case. The payments that I have had to pay do not count towards PSLF because I never filled out the certification which Navient failed to inform me of.

Consumer Complaint: This particular account situation that is lately filing on my own credit document has a seriously unfavorable relation to my personal ability to obtain a present loan application. I highly recommend you generate verification that DEPT OF ED/NAVIENT has been reported completely in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations, it's really a serious problem to mis-report. Moreconfirmation of the aforesaid item too. My proper request mustover, I was never 30 days/60 days/120 days late in any of my payments and I'm not greatly tuned in to the date opened so I prefer to ask your be investigated as soon as possible and confirmed to be correct. Thanks!

Consumer Complaint: I was in the process of writing a letter to Navient disputing their claim that I owed them {$680.00} from XXXX when I came across this site. I have pasted the body of my letter here. Attachments are in the uploaded Navient dispute document PDF file below. To Whom It May concern : I am disputing your claim of a balance due to Navient by me as annotated in your letter dated XX/XX/XXXX for a student loan that I paid in full on XX/XX/XXXX, over 11 years ago. I received this letter XX/XX/XXXX. The letter is dated XX/XX/XXXX. It is postmarked XX/XX/XXXX ( see attachment ). The letter states To pay loans in full, we must receive you payment of {$680.00} within 10 days of this letter. Ten days from the XXXX was XX/XX/XXXX. As I stated earlier your letter arrived on XX/XX/XXXX. This delay was due to 7 days between the date of the letter and the actual postmark on the envelope ( see enclosed ). This lack of timeliness in your correspondence is indicative of the time frame this letter pertains to, a XX/XX/XXXX notice for an account that was paid in full on from XX/XX/XXXX with a payment of {$79000.00}. Please note that according to your enclosed account history it took 2 years to post a {$55.00} adjustment. I spoke with customer service representative XXXX on the phone on XX/XX/XXXX. She told me the dates of correspondence forwarded to me from Navient following my final payment posted on XX/XX/XXXX are as follows : 7 months later on XX/XX/XXXX 5 days later on XX/XX/XXXX 6 years and 3 months later dated XX/XX/XXXX 2 months later XX/XX/XXXX 2 years 11 months later XX/XX/XXXX 1 years later on XX/XX/XXXX Once I made my final payment in the exact amount of {$79000.00} any and all correspondence from any company would have been viewed as another lending company looking for business or a solicitation from a credit card company and promptly discarded. Again I point you to the length of time between notices issued by Navient. It is 11 years and 9 months since my payment of {$79000.00} posted on XX/XX/XXXX and your letter dated XX/XX/XXXX. Upon asking XXXX how Navient arrived at the {$390.00} principal balance she told me there was an {$80000.00} balance offset by the XX/XX/XXXX posted payment of {$79000.00} payment. Per the enclosed spreadsheet I had made a total of {$82000.00} payments toward principal. Upon opening an account with XXXX XXXX On XX/XX/XXXX is when I noticed and submitted a dispute for them to investigate the Navient entry on my credit report. While this is a screen shot from XXXX XXXX and not Navient, ( see PDF ) please note the date of the Navient entry, XX/XX/XXXX. 4 years and almost 11 months before my final payment on XX/XX/XXXX, the date XXXX cited on our phone call on XX/XX/XXXX used to calculate the {$390.00} principal balance. Furthermore, I question Navients record keeping, and by extension, making your calculations unreliable, by citing the screen shot below from your web site. It indicates I am supposed to make a monthly payment of {$520.00} due on XX/XX/XXXX! We have all been warned of scams and unscrupulous companies attempting to bilk money from unsuspecting people. Upon learning of the ongoing lawsuit by Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and many State Attorney Generals, I am increasingly alarmed that money may have been misapplied on my account. This account appears as an outstanding debt on my credit reports for XXXX and XXXX and adversely affects my credit rating. Given the absence of any written documentation detailing your calculation supporting the {$390.00} principal and XXXX interest balances listed in your notice dated XX/XX/XXXX, the inordinate and inconsistent length of time between supposed documentation ( I was unable to locate any list of notices or documentation on www.navient.com ), poor record keeping ( see Navient screen shot ) I reiterate my refusal to pay {$680.00} to a company that only offers a figure in a letter and a verbal claim by a customer ( albeit courteous ) service representative. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX FYI, I submitted a dispute to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX They say it is currently under investigation and should be completed by XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: I have filed numerous complaints with Navient, my lender on behalf of the loan service practices. in XXXX of 2011 my loan originated at {$10000.00}. I have paid over {$18000.00} and my Private loan is STILL at {$9800.00}. I contacted the Ombudsman office and received a letter Case # XXXX from the Navient office of the Consumer Advocates XX/XX/XXXX Stating that my Borrower defense to Loan repayment loan I have been filing for Discharge because the school was shut down has been put on administrative forbearance until XXXX for my Federal loan. I spoke with XXXX XXXX on XXXX about my Private loan which is apparently accruing {$3.00} /per day interest. As she repeatedly said " The documents you signed '' through Sallie mae / now Navient with a 11.25 % rate Variable of course is the reason of the loan not getting paid off. I am 100 % sure this is why Sallie Mae was shut down. XXXX stated I can get a loan with an outside company to pay this off and pay on that I start all over again I know this is preditory lending and I NEED HELP

Consumer Complaint: I am XXXX XXXX. Navient cancelled my private student loans. Yet one private loan sits in repayment. I keep getting emails directing me to call Navient. I do not have a telephone, I can not " telephone '' Navient. It seems like Navient is just placing me in a XXXX. I have sent whatever documents have been requested, for a XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) discharge. Yet I keep getting, emails requesting me to visit their website, to view bills. Zero updated response to my re-submittance of XXXX documents. Why is Navient not responding, by acknowledging that they received my XXXX paperwork, more than once. That paperwork was mailed with the following tracking number ( XXXX ). Its status is delivered : XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX Delivered, Left with Individual XXXX XXXX, PA XXXX How many times must I submit XXXX papers. I re-sent those documents on XX/XX/XXXX. I have that second tracking number buried somewhere, that reported its delivery. As mentioned, repeatedly, Navient has received and approved my private student loan total XXXX XXXX cancellation. But still has one loan as past due within its system. Navient knew one year ago that I had been approved for XXXX at the federal level, but, had me resubmit XXXX paperwork for my 2 private student loans, as if Navient did not have both Federal and private loans under the same account number. Of course Navient sent a Litigation Review Pending letter, which made Navient look extra-special. My account was placed on a XXXX XXXX hold on XX/XX/XXXX. The day it received my certified mailing of its latest XXXX paperwork request.

Consumer Complaint: I had a student loan back in XX/XX/XXXX, eventually due to financial issues I could not pay back the loan and the loan was sold to a different student loan servicer called Navient sometime in XX/XX/XXXX and the collection process started again but I did not receive any notices in the mail or calls over the phone, nothing informing me that they were collecting on the student loan. Since I live in Florida and hurricane Irma came around during that time they put the payments on hold until around XX/XX/XXXX. 3 months later I finally find out because I noticed my credit score dropped substantially and I looked to see why and I find out about Navient and that I'm 90days late on the student loan payments, so I immediately pay everything in full since I have a better job now and have continued to make payments on time since then but the damage was done, my credit was set back big time and it will continue to hur me for the next 7 years. I called Navient and explained what happened.. They state that they only accept letters mailed to a certain dept to address those kinds of issues, seems like businesses do that to make it harder for consumers to get things fixed. I sent the letter around XX/XX/XXXX but I haven't received any sort of response. I understand that the student loan was something I am supposed to be responsible for and I tried to be back when I tried to pursue a higher education but if I have known ahead of time that the transition happened with Navient 8 years later I would have committed to the promise I originally made when I was 18 especially since I have become a much more responsible adult over those years but the 90 day late payment tells a different story about me, one that says I'm irresponsible, that I don't follow up on my promises. It has set me back on reaching my financial goals like buying a home and getting a good interest rate on my car. I hope by doing this it can help set things straight

Consumer Complaint: I feel Navient does not make it easy enough if you want to pay off your loan early. Every other lender I deal with whether a car, credit card or personal has easy to find links on you account page for a payoff quote. Navient makes it so difficult it is frustrating ... there should be a payment option for payoff, not just " over-payment '' that does me no good. Stop trying to discourage from paying off early, I have already been paying on the loan for 15 years ...

Consumer Complaint: I have asked the debtor ( Navient ) in writing to cease all calls. Navient still calls me after I have wrote in writing not to. They calling me before XXXX. Consumer Complaint: I was in school XX/XX/XXXX for 2-3months. I withdrew XX/XX/XXXX due to lifes inconvenience. Never received any disbursements from the 2 loans that appears to be on my 1st enrollment of school. I started back in XX/XX/XXXX. Through the 2yr time period. Sallie Mae/ Navient has made numerous bad credit reports such as delinquent against my credit. Ive always had to lean towards forbearance there was no other option. My interest rate continued to go up ridiculously. I was also told when in forbearance no bad credit reports would be made against my credit. When I went back to finish school XX/XX/XXXX. Had more loans during my 2nd enrollment. Finished XX/XX/XXXX. Couldnt find a job right away. Sallie Mae/Navient continued to perform harassment. Contacting & sending my billing information to friends and family for me to pay. An unprofessional act & complete embarrassment to me. I was in forbearance again as my interest rate continued to go up again & again. Now Im dealing with paying them an awful amount of money that has been adding on my loan account. Due to forbearance, interest rates continued to climb up every time. I feel as though I am a victim of the scam & allegations Navient is being sued upon.
