Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: As a XXXX, I should qualify forXXXX Loan forgiveness My coworkers got the loans reduction, but I have been denied 3 times. My district administrator signs the paperwork and verifies my employment. I began XXXX in 2005 and have worked for the same district to date. One rep told me I could get it because I had a XXXX XXXX- no where in their correspond does additional degeees deny the request. One rep stated if I entered dashes instead of hyphens it gets tossed out. One stated I have s consolidation and that denies my ability for loan forgiveness- yet there reps recommended consolidation to me when I was struggling to pay my bills Ive been trying to secure financing elsewhere and have struggled getting the necessary data to my new loan servicing agency. I am tried and frustrated of being lied to, misdirected and denied to conditions offered at the time of requesting the loan funds. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, KS. XXXX

Issue: Getting a loan

Subissue: Fraudulent loan

Consumer Complaint: I attented XXXX after speaking with a recruiter who came to my home in attendence with my father. It was soon discovered I would not be eligible for enough financial aid to attend the school, so the recruiter heavily pushed Sallie Mae Financial for the private loans. XXXX and its recruiter boasted extremely high job placement and skillsets that would readily have me ready for the workforce, but this was not the case. It was discovered and is now known via mutliple lawsuits that the school lied to its students about its job placement statistics, and its preparation readiness for the workplace. The Dept of Education has placed stopped payment on all XXXX XXXX loans, the parent company of XXXX. Due to financial difficulties, my student loans went into default multiple times after countless harassing phone calls and threats of wage garnishment etc after difficulties finding employment as the training at XXXX was insufficient to meet many companies standards for jobs. After receiving help from family members, my wife and I did a cash out refinance on our home, in order to pay off the remaining loans and remove the defaulted loans from my credit report. XXXX 's fraudulent ways and insufficent education, along with predatory practices caused me to incur massive financial penalties. I am currently awaiting reimbursement of all federal and state loans, and am requesting a full refund of all private loans for this fraudulent school.

Consumer Complaint: I have been attempting to settle the forebearances and default on my student loans for 10 years. I have answered my phone, cooperated with both XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX by filling out forms, returning their forms, calling customer service, speaking to customer service, but they have refused to process anything I have sent, and have wasted 10 years of my time. My payments and treasury offsets for my tax refunds are not showing up anywhere, despite the fact that my Federal refunds have been garnished for 5 years. They have harassed me with daily mail, phone calls, and wage garnishment notices, while refusing to give me a hearing. I was in the class in a class action lawsuit in Virginia against XXXX XXXX XXXX, and they were ordered by that court to cease and desist the fake wage garnishment notices without first offering a hearing. They have now blocked my phone and email from any further communications.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: I obtained my loans while I was a XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I was paying them back, but then in XX/XX/XXXX I was convicted of a XXXX. I lost my job and many sources of income. For the next 14 years, Sallie Mae ( now Navient ) gave me forbearance after forbearance knowing full well that I would never be able to pay them back. I even told one of the representatives that I knew what they were doing ... they were giving me forbearance 's so they could stick many more late fees, penalties and more, on me for the taxpayers to pay when they finally couldn't do it anymore. My other loan from HEAL was taken to court and they obtained a judgement against me ... this was back in XX/XX/XXXX. I just wanted you to know, because I saw that you are suing Navient for doing this same thing to me. I am a victim in this case.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: Every day I am getting harassing calls at my job, which is making it difficult for me to work, as well as getting harassing calls on my house phone and cell phone for myself and my mother, the cosigner. The representatives says things such as I shouldn't have taken out the loans if I can't afford the payments, they are going so send an officer to my place of employment, as well as to my home to serve me notice, they are going to garnish my wages, and they are going to keep contacting me. On Monday, XX/XX/2019, I told the representative that I fell behind in payments due to me getting sick for a few months so i was out of work with no income, this was after the months of XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX when I am unemployed because school isn't in session. The representative offered me a XXXX paper for the time I was working, but my illness would not be labeled as a XXXX, I just had to get well and I told her that. She then told me to try to borrow the {$370.00} payment from someone so the loans wouldn't default. i explained to her that no one has that type of money to loan me and I can't pay them such a high payment and still live month to month. The last payment was made to them on XX/XX/2019 in the amount of {$340.00} by my mother was is on a fixed income due to retiring and we can't afford that high payment. We have experienced several losses like repossession and loss of housing due to income changes. It is stressful and they aren't trying to compromise, but threaten and call daily.

Consumer Complaint: The amount that I borrowed has almost tripled. I'm confused on how my student loan balance went from XXXX to XXXX. I believe there is a gross mishandling on my student loans and now i owe a substantial amount that I can not afford. I need help in figuring out how it has gotten this bad. I wasn't clearly explained my options when my income was lower and pushed into forbearance. Now I'm in a big mess

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan

Consumer Complaint: I have called Navient several times in the last 10 years about my student loans. I told them I was having trouble paying the monthly installments and I was told that forbearance was my only option. This has been my only option each time I have called. Around XX/XX/XXXX, I was young enough to foolishly accept forbearance on my loans not realizing what it actually meant. Two years ago in the fall of XX/XX/XXXX I called again to attempt to lower my monthly payments and I was again told forbearance was my only option. I told them I would not be going into forbearance and that I just needed a lower monthly payment in order to actually survive and create some sort of savings. I was then told again that forbearance was my only option and if I didnt want that I should have my co-signers pay. I told them that my mother is not responsible for my student debt, and they then told me my father should pay. I told them my dad died in XX/XX/XXXX, and we had sent them a death certificate, the person on the phone then argued with me about my dads death ( I had to remind him numerous times about him having passed away, and each time I was told to have him pay, or go into forbearance ). There have been numerous times I have asked for my mom to be released as my co-signer and each time I have been denied. There have been many occasions where my mom gets my monthly statement and I do not, and they will also call her and not me when trying to collect debt, which sometimes isnt even due for a few more weeks. This happens frequently despite both my mother and I telling them they should be calling me as it is my debt. The amount they have been asking per month has been substantial and inflexible which has caused me to barely get by each month financially. Evidence can be found in their phone recordings as well as loan statements when I had entered forbearance after being told it was my only option.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: I have been trying to apply for the XXXX Forgiveness Grant Application that Navient offers. I have filled out and sent in on 5 different occasions their form for requesting the grant. Each time it was denied I would call up and fix the error they said I had made, and then resend it in just to find out that another error was " noticed '' on it and then had to refill out and send in the form again. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent in what I had hope would be my 6th and final form. I did NOT get a denied letter this time so I assumed it went through. 2 months have passed and I didn't receive anything from them, so I called them today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) to see how my application is coming along. The representative told me that it was never sent and that they already told me it was denied. After arguing with her she then apologized and said that I was right I didn't get a notification, but I still needed to fix my form FOR A 6TH TIME. I told her I wanted to speak to her manager or another representative. I was transferred and she, again, confirmed that I was right and they did not inform me that my application that I sent in XXXX was denied. I then asked well can they send it in now. She said no because of section 3 on the form THEY GAVE ME and already filled in was incorrect. I needed to write " NAVIENT '' on it not their phone number ... but I explained to them that THIS WAS THEIR FORM AND IT ALREADY HAD THEIR NUMBER ON IT, I DIDN'T DO IT. Plus if that is all then why can't they just write it in themselves? Why is it such a big deal to not send in my form to the government to get approval? I have been XXXX for 9 years now with XXXX XXXX and all I'm asking is for that {$5000.00} dollars that they promised by filling out a simple form. Why is it becoming more of a hassle than it is? So now I have to re-fill out a new form and resubmit it and hopefully then " accept '' it, but now I am pushed back on paying off my loans for another 3 months.
