Issue: Communication tactics
Subissue: You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Consumer Complaint: Navient XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX represented by Sr. Account Manager XXXX XXXX at XXXX XXXX called my home phone number today asking for my wife and asking her if she could provide contact information or get a message to a neighbor 's son. I assume his student loan was past due and they could not contact him. Instead, they found my wife 's name and phone number on the Internet and called her trying to get information on neighbor XXXX XXXX. We later received a call from one of our sons indicating that Navient had also left a message on his cell phone. We feel this is a blatant invasion of our personal privacy and would like it stop immediately. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Consumer Complaint: Called Navient today and got disturbing news. Im currently {$62000.00} in student loan debt, and trying to figure out the best option. I requested a forbearance and got approved on XX/XX/XXXX, which stated that can resume payments on XX/XX/XXXX. I was told today that my forbearance ended on XX/XX/XXXX, and I was not aware of the change. So all of the late charges and derogatory comments landed on my credit report. That makes me wonder if I have been getting charged like this on my previous forbearance request. I recently applied for a personal loan, and it stated the reason for denial wasaccount severely delinquent. I truly believe it was because of this debt that I was misinformed about. I understand that I had to get student loans to complete my accounting degree, but I cant even land a job in the field due to less demand in my area. Its bad enough to have this following you for 10+ years, but to be misinformed is totally unnecessary.

Consumer Complaint: Navient, as per an email I received in XX/XX/XXXX, was going to be servicing all my student loans which included approving forbearance requests on ALL of my student loan accounts. In XX/XX/XXXX, I requested a 12 month forbearance of my student loan in which the month prior to this, my student loan servicing company Sallie Mae was transformed into Navient. My forbearance was approved and I received an email confirmation in which I have attached with this complaint. All of my student loans were being reported as paid, or paid as agreed up until XX/XX/XXXX when all of a sudden it was reported as being 90 days late while still under forbearance. I received emails that stated my forbearance was coming to an end in XXXX and XXXX which means it was still in affect during XX/XX/XXXX when Navient reported my student account as being 90 days late. Also if my account was late, why didn't the company report it as being 30 days late in XX/XX/XXXX, and then 60 days late in XX/XX/XXXX. There is no justification for this. No account can go from paid as agreed one month and then to a 90 days late status the next month. No account can go from paid as agreed one month and then to a 90 days late status the next month. I have forwarded my XXXX and XXXX credit reports to Navient 's Credit Bureau Management team which show that this is exactly what happened in XX/XX/XXXX. All of my reports show paid as agreed and then all of a sudden in XXXX of XXXX I was 90 days late. Now since Navient has multiple student loans on my credit report, 12 of them show 90 days late on my credit reports from XX/XX/XXXX which have created a huge hardship on my FICO score and lenders will not approve me for any business loans or lines of credit as my credit history looks like I was late 12 times on multiple accounts when in fact it is just one account that shows a 90 days late from Navient.

Consumer Complaint: NAvient is profiting off consumers in Bankruptcy. Navient locked out both myself the cosigner and my daughter the signer since my spouse and I filed ChapterXXXX in 2015. Navient refused to accept payment requests. Navient has applied capitalized interest in over 30k now that the ChapterXXXX is discharged. My daughter had made payments up until being locked out, she is currently looking for work and on unemployment. My husband is a XXXX military veteran and I'm XXXX. We are using our home equity, our only savings for our elderly years to pay this off since the amount continues to grow at a rate greater than any investment. Navient has refused to reduce the mount. Our attny advised us through out the Bankruptcy that Navient was suppose to work with us but Navient never did.

Consumer Complaint: In summer 2018 I attempted to go into forbearance on my loans because I was moving 500 miles away to get a better job and make a career move post-XXXX school. I knew that moving would be expensive. Navient rejected my request on account that I had already used my allotted forbearance period and that I must begin paying my debts in full. I was financially unable to do so as I spent my savings making the move to a new place. I was extremely overwhelmed because Sallie Mae was also calling me about their private loans and repaying them. Neither company provided me an option of a reduced payment plan or anything to assist me in maintaining my credit score. After a few months, Navient struck my credit score for each and every individual loan ( 11 ), which accounted for over 30 missed payments per my credit score. I reached out to Navient again and finally was offered the IDR. I gladly accepted and enrolled in auto-pay to ensure no further complications although I am still recovering from the many missed payments. That said, my loan is increasing exponentially to the point that I can not keep up. Every time I look, my loan amount increases despite my payments. I faxed Navient a request to remove the missed payments on my credit score but was not responded to. This instance has caused me to struggle through vehicle payments and obtaining a mortgage.

Consumer Complaint: There are five closed accounts from Navient on my credit reports still that were closed in XXXX and XXXX. They are hurting my score and I have asked several times over the phone and in writing for them to be removed. The accounts have been resolved or paid for in other ways and there is no bearing for them to continue to remain on the account.

Consumer Complaint: This particular account situation that is lately filing on my own credit document has a seriously unfavorable relation to my personal ability to obtain a present loan application. I highly recommend you generate verification that DEPT OF ED/NAVIENT has been reported completely in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations, it's really a serious problem to mis-report. Moreconfirmation of the aforesaid item too. My proper request mustover, I was never 30 days/60 days/120 days late in any of my payments and I'm not greatly tuned in to the date opened so I prefer to ask you be investigated as soon as possible and confirmed to be correct. Thanks!

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2019 I made payment in addition to my normal monthly payment. I included instructions with my payment. The instructions stated ( 1 ) the over payment was to be applied to 1, and only 1, of my several student loans ( 2 ) The payment was to be applied to outstanding interest and then principal ( 3 ) The payment due date of the loan was not to be advanced ( the entire payment was to be applied immediately and ( 4 ) if the servicer could not follow my instructions, then the payment was to be refunded. My payment was not applied correctly. Instead of paying down the loan, Navient advanced the payment due date, resulting in XXXX payment each month on the loan additional interest accumulating on the {$300.00} of the loan principal that was supposed to be payed down. I emailed and called Navient to try and correct the problem. Despite saying they would fix the issue, the loan due date keeps getting advanced. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and the issue is still now resolved and my money has not been returned pursuant to my instructions. I am afraid to make extra payments because Navient ignores my written instructions, keeping me in debt for as long as they can.

Consumer Complaint: I have three student loans through Navient. I was told that by placing my loans on auto pay so that the company takes my payment right from my bank account, I would get a 0.5 % deduction on my interest rate for all of my loans. I have been paying regularly in that manner and they have not been crediting me the 0.5 % deduction I should have been getting. Therefore, I am paying more in interest each month, leaving less going to my principle balance. When I called to try to ask why this was happening, the customer service representative gave me wrong information again stating that two of my loans were getting the deducted rate but the third was not despite it also being on auto pay. The interest rates that he quoted my two loans that were supposedly getting the discount are different rates than what shows on my statement sent to me by mail every month.

Consumer Complaint: I received a letter on XX/XX/2018 appearing as an offer to consolidate my student loans under the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program. After calling the number given I was greeted with an agent that said they worked for Navient. They gave my student loan servicer, loan amounts and then I was asked to verify my information to verify my identity. As asked for, I offered my FSA ID, PIN, employer name and status and gross annual wage information. They told me that I definitely qualified for the student loan forgiveness program and would only need to make payments to them per month towards my student loans for 10 years after which my loans would be 100 % forgiven. I would first need to make a large Loan Service payment in order to process the consolidation. They would only accept Direct Bank Transfers. Given that they were posing as a government agency and the fact that they had my data before I even offered it.I gave them this information as well. They said they would then send my loan to be serviced by a private company XXXX XXXX. That my loan statments would show up as {$0.00} owed but that was because XXXX XXXX would have already made the withdrawal from my account and I shouldn't worry about that as it was just a receipt acknowledging my payment. I signed an agreement under the false information they had just provided me over the phone and was none-the-wiser for it. Because my loan was actually {$0.00} due each month I never suspected that I was being scammed and my credit report reflected that I was good on my payments to my student loan. It wasn't until 11 months later when verifying that my student loan renewal information was correctly received that I found that while Navient is an official government student loan servicer I never had my loan put into the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness program and also that I had made 0 payments on my loans since consolidating them into Navient. It was at this point I was made aware that I had been scammed. Upon reviewing all of my account information with Navient I found that XXXX XXXX had logged into my account with Navient and had changed my email in an attempt to subvert the control of information to me.
