Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have tried to work with Navient as my private loan lender for repayment of my college loans for years. I have been paying on them since graduation in XXXX. I have just struggled trying to live ( pay my rent for housing, food, car ) I have not had leftover money from all of my " needs to live '' payments and my additional school loans through federal. This past time I tried to get my loans lowered in XXXX of XXXX was my last straw. I had been paying only interest of XXXX a month which was doable, but it is not helping me in the long run because interest is still accruing on my 30,000+ private loan. I don't foresee a great increase in salary because of the salaried job I hold with a company that struggled to pay me an additional 1,000 per year. I'm currently grossing $ XXXX. I receieve an average of {$1000.00} per pay period every two weeks. I pay into two loans for school that add up to around {$270.00} per month. These companies are XXXX XXXX and XXXX, both federal loans and have tried working with me. Navient wants me to pay {$300.00} per month. That is how they proposed to help. When I last spoke with two ladies at Navient, one being a supervisor, they were unhelpful and suggested I get a second job to help pay their Navient loan! I am furious at this " help '' and have NOT wanted to work with them since. Now they have reported me 5 months late to credit reporting. I do not know what to do. They have tried to call but I'm so mad at their tactic to " help '' by suggesting I get a second job I do not want to do business with them, let alone give them anymore of my money. I have always had more than XXXXne job trying to pay my loans but recently I had to stop working a second job because of my health. How can you all help me?

Consumer Complaint: XXXX Estimated loan amount in total {$44000.00} After having my Federal tax returns seized because of my defaulted student loans with Navient I started making a year 's worth of consecutive payments to get my loan out of default. I was then advised, after they came out of default to consolidate my school loans and given little to no information on how this would impact my credit, I was mislead into thinking this was the best option, so I did it. This severely hurt my credit leaving me unable to get any type of financing anywhere. I was given no information on who consolidated my loans or how to even start paying on the consolidated loans back. I still can't find this information. Also, I recently started getting billed from Navient for another loan that I thought was included in the consolidation but was left out of it and now going into defaulted status. They have failed to give me any other options and have failed to advise and inform me with the best possible solutions to repay my loans without damaging my credit and taking my Federal tax returns. This has ruined me financially. I am a single mom of XXXX young kids working hard to provide for my family and count on my Federal tax returns to get ahead. I can't even finance anything, house, car, credit cards, etc. I almost wish I opted out of even getting student loans and paid out of pocket. This has ruined my life.

Issue: Getting a loan
Subissue: Qualified for a better loan than the one offered
Consumer Complaint: During the last year last few semesters of my XXXX I sought financial assistance through SallieMae ( 2012 ) for approximately $ XXXX. I didnt know at the time that I was eligible for federal loans, but I was only offered private loans which is what I accepted. The private loans have stricter repayment rules and higher interest rates, and they dont fall under the loan forgiveness program which I do qualify for. I feel as though the loans were predatory, can this be made right?
