The Federal loans were {$2500.00} each year, how did the balance go to over {$52000.00} I have been out of college since 1986 ... don't even know if they were mine ... My father paid for the school for me over 35 years ago ... No help from them at all

Consumer Complaint: I keep paying the same fee in the amount of {$19.00} every month, and sometimes I pay it multiple times due to Navient 's system will show that I owe the fee again even after I just paid it. I have made this same payment sometimes 3 times in the same month, and it will show that I still owe it. I have payed this same amount for years, but in the past it showed only once, so I didn't think anything about it. I just figured that it was a part of my monthly fee. I didn't want anything negative on my credit report, so I just consistently made the payment. I called a representative today XX/XX/XXXX due to I wanted to know what the fee was for, and why did their system keep saying that I owed the amount. I was advised that it was a late fee from XXXX which I found crazy to keep being charged for something that I did not know was owed. This particular amount did not start coming up until XXXX based upon my printout of payments from their site. I was told that the late payment does not go away. I am on an income based plan, and I have been on it since XXXX per the rep. This fee has never been explained to me before, and I never knew it was an issue until I checked to see why this particular amount kept occurring after a payment was made. The rep advised that she had escalated the issue, and that the fee would be removed by XX/XX/XXXX. My issue with the whole situation is that I was making multiple payments on my account thinking that this was a part of a monthly payment when in actuality it was for something else. I was told that my {$19.00} payments was being applied to the interest of my account. I was making multiple payments to my account for something that I did not realize I was paying several times. I hope I have not been charged interest on this same amount that I thought was being paid over all of these years. I was told that late fees were not a real concern for Navient. They use all payments to pay the interest owed to them first, then towards the principal. I have spoken to others from Navient before, and this has never been told to me about this fee that I kept paying over and over again. Navient needs to put on their site on how to make payments for other things owed due to I was unaware that I had to click on the payment site for unpaid fees which I did not know that the {$19.00} was an unpaid fee. I just thought it was a part of my monthly amount that needed to be paid as stated. I also see that I am not the only one who also had this issue. I found an article that someone else had with the exact same issue on XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX # XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have a total of XXXX student loan with Navient. They have talked me into forbearance multiple times over the past 10 years causing interest to continue to accrue in my loan which is now {$200000.00}. My loan amount is now double XXXX being principle and XXXX being interest that just continues to grow month after month. The interest on my XXXX loan accrues at the rate of {$1100.00} per month and they continue to increase the amount owed to my credit reports ruining my credit. I will never be able to afford to pay {$1100.00} a month interest plus try to pay towards the principle. The higher the loan grows because of interest. The higher the interest will accrue monthly.

Consumer Complaint: In XXXX, my Student Loan from XXXX XXXX was sold to Navient. I began making payments and inquired about a Public Loan Forgiveness program. Several times the Agent stated that after 1 year of paying with Navient, I could 'then ' apply to XXXX XXXX and ask for a Public Loan Forgiveness . So, I paid with Navient for a full year. After a year, I called Navient amd askes if I can now transfer to XXXX XXXX and it was like a totally different narrative. The Agent said I did NOT have to wait a year. I could have transferred to XXXX XXXX at any time. He was sorry someone had given me bad information. I was sooo mad! I was mislead. I was given wrong info. that kept me paying Navient for a year when I could have been paying XXXX XXXX and having my payments qualify for the Public Service Forgiveness program ( 120 payments ). I see that a lawsuit was won, and other people had been wrongfully mislead. As a 16 year XXXX XXXX XXXX, I feel I too should be acknowledged as a person who was a victim of Navient. Its fraud plain and Simple! I finally transferred my Navient account XX/XX/XXXX. I have the paperwork. My payments to Navient started over a year before, XXXX. Can your assist me in getting help for this experience? I await your response.
