Consumer Complaint: I have XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, which are currently serviced by Navient ( approx 5 years with Navient ). When I learned about the CARES act, I called, confirmed it applied to my loans, and got my early XXXX payment refunded. My Navient " dashboard '' currently reads that the interest is 0 % and that I do not owe a payment. However, on XX/XX/XXXX I received an email that I had an Inbox message. This is different than normal correspondence with Navient, which usually is just an email saying the amount due. I logged into my account, which still says I don't owe anything and there is a 0 % interest payment. However, the inbox message says the following ( while still saying, at the bottom, that the rate is 0 % ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I called Navient who said my interest is not accruing and that my loans are covered by the XXXX XXXX, but could not explain why the letter was sent to me - they said the president required the letter, but could not explain why it would contain inaccurate information. I know that many borrowers would read this as a statement and pay the money thinking that it will continue to accrue. Although I don't know of anyone else who received one, the person I spoke with said " everyone '' got a letter, but didn't seem to understand the letter I received today, and seemed to be referring to the general CARES Act email that was sent in early XXXX. MY NAME, interest is accruing while your student loan payments are postponed. Pay a little now and save a lot later. We want you to be aware that interest accrues during the forbearance period on your loans. If the interest is not paid as it accrues, it may be capitalized ( added to your principal balance ). Remember, you can shorten or cancel your forbearance period at any time. Heres the Unpaid Principal and the Unpaid Interest that has accrued as of XX/XX/XXXX : Unpaid Principal : {$39000.00} Unpaid Interest : {$47.00} Current Balance ( Total ) : {$39000.00} Remember : Youre obligated to repay your loans after periods of forbearance expire in accordance with the terms of your Promissory Notes.

Consumer Complaint: I was granted 100 % permanent XXXX by the VA effective date of XX/XX/XXXX, the decision was made XX/XX/XXXX and backdated. I applied for XXXX discharge of my student loans XX/XX/XXXX. I made approximately {$27000.00} in payments between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I received a refund of only {$8800.00}. I contacted Navient and XXXX about this around XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I was told that any payments made on the loans after the date of XXXX of XX/XX/XXXX would not be refunded if the loan account was inactive when they were informed of the XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, I was told of the {$27000.00} in payments I made after my XXXX date of XX/XX/XXXX, I would only be eligible for a refund of {$8800.00}. Title 34, Section 674.61 ( C ) ( 3 ) ( iii ) states any payment made after the XXXX date will be refunded.

Consumer Complaint: Received an electronic statement from my Federal Parent Plus loan servicer NAVIENT. The statement details that accrued, unpaid interest can ( after a grace period ) be tacked onto the principal. Nowhere in the statement is there language about forbearance on Federal Loans of accrued interest due to the CARES ActCOVID-19 Relief. I asked the rep from NAVIENT on the phone and he said in fact the accrued interest will not be added to the principal ( missing from the statement ) and that it will just be an unpaid balance added to the principal & not subject to interest charges. He said the interest listed was accrued prior to XX/XX/20. My complaint is the average consumer receiving this statement ( absent contacting NAVIENT XXXX would have no idea that the accrued interest listed will NOT be added to the unpaid principal and subject to additional interest charges. This is based on the reps statement and nothing in writing to date. I filed a formal complaint with NAVIENT. This lack of specific language seems very vague & deceptive. In addition, there is no language in this statement regarding the affect of COVID-19 relief on consumers loan balances with the servicer. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/2018 I went to XXXX I was XXXX for 10 months. During that time my loans went into default. I had filed all the recommended paperwork with the student loan servicer as far as, Being able to keep my loan repayments in good standing during my time away. After my graduation from the program I came to find out that my loans have been in put into default. When I had filed my taxes with the IRS I had an offset for my taxes. Currently I am still in debt {$700.00}. Navient refuses to be understanding to my situation considering every detail they take no blame or a part in pose that they do not have any documentation that I filed in XXXX of 2018 stating that I had filed for a forbearance. Ive lost Thousands of dollars because of their mistake as well as taking a hit on my credit report. What are my options?

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: For over 10 years I have been trying to get my daughter 's student loan payments to an amount I can afford. The amount I can afford is {$300.00} to {$400.00} per month. Each year I call Navient the representative tells me the amount I want to pay is fine, but I will still be considered delinquent if I don't pay the entire amount due. Finally in XXXX one representative told me if I consolidate the loans I can get it to {$300.00} or {$400.00} per month. Well when I got the approved amount it came to around {$1600.00} per month. That was crazy, I contacted Navient immediately and told them I am unable to pay this amount. The representative said we can defer your payment for a year and maybe then you can pay it. I told them no I will not be able to pay it. I had to send a letter to the CEO of Navient and I got another representative to contact me. She indicated she would investigate this matter. Well she came back with there is nothing I can do to change the amount you need to pay, but I can defer you payment for a year. This is ridiculous how Navient representatives trick their customers into consolidating the loans when they are being told I can't pay the amount you are requesting in the first place. Then the new consolidated loan amount is 100 % higher than the individual loan amounts. This has been a burden on me for many years and I am tired of it. I need someone to contact Navient regarding tricking customer into consolidating loans and then not helping them to make the reasonable payment the customer can afford.
