Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Too many dates to remember. I have two loans with Navient, but they see it as one loan. My goal is to pay off the loan with the lowest balance. Every month I make an extra payment and allocate it to loan XXXX with the lower balance. At first the full amount goes to loan XXXX but when I check a few days later they have removed a portion of the payment and put in on the loan with the higher balance. EVERY time I pay extra, I have to remember to call them a few days later and tell them to move all the funds to the lower loan. I have spoken to a dozen people and they say that is the only way it can be done. BUT on their website you have the option to pick the loan you want the money to go to. It makes absolutely no sense. Today, I called them because I wanted to just pay off the smaller loan so I dont have to go through this every month. I went to their website and allocated the total amount owed on loan XXXX to pay it in full. The guy, I chatted with said I will need to call them once it posts and again tell them it is to pay off the balance of my small loan. I should not have to pay any interest after today on that loan since I sent them the total amount he said I should pay. I am so nervous that this is going to get jacked up by them. Please help me. It is my money and I should be able to allocate which loan I want to pay since there website is set up to make you believe that is what you are doing. It seems shady that I have to follow-up every time I pay extra on my loans. Thank you and I pray you can help me resolve this issue. Regard, XXXX XXXX

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX and on XX/XX/XXXX I had a total of two unsubsidized direct loans received to me to pay for school at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, CO and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, CO. I received the loans with the understanding I would have to pay them back. However, I was not informed by Navient and in fact mislead with my loan going into forbearance with no status update/options from the company. I received automated calls which I mistook for spam and when I tried to reach somebody at Navient they were not helpful in describing my options and how the interest that would accrue from a delay would negatively impact my credit score. Had I known that my loans needed to be paid at a certain date in XXXX or XXXX without any delay, I would have contacted my parents to help pay for them. Ultimately, my dad helped pay for the loans in XXXX which amounted to well over {$1000.00} in interest. I would like for this loan history to be erased from my credit score because I was greatly misled by Navient for about 5 years regrading my loans. I had no idea what my repayment options were even after attempting to look into my account several times.

Consumer Complaint: Navient damaged my credit score over the years by showing my two student loans opened in XX/XX/XXXX but did not report my first payment until XXXX. My payment history will show that my actual first payment was in XXXX. The Fair Credit Report Act will show that I am entitled to 100 accurate credit reporting. They withheld years of my payment history which lowered my credit age from 18 years to only 5 years on my credit report and the First Report date is how my score is mainly calculated so by Navient failing to report my correct first payment date in XXXX forward I have suffered financially because their fraudulent and false information lowered my credit score. Also my loan was paid off from consolidation on XX/XX/XXXX but they reported me for having a higher balance on XX/XX/XXXX to the credit bureaus

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: Navient Private Loans : For the last couple of months I have been calling to see if I can lower my payments. This month I go to check my account online and it says my payment is {$85.00}. I called several times and spoke with several different people who all say that my bill is {$110.00}. I have explained that I got multiple emails that say my total amount due for this month is {$85.00} and not {$110.00}, I also explained that I can't pay {$110.00} but I can pay {$85.00} or if there are other lower options. They don't seem helpful and willing on helping me pay a lower amount. I always call to make sure what to pay and if I need my payments lowered for the month. I've never missed a payment and always pay the amount owed.
