Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: I received a notification that my credit score had dramatically dropped. I have not had any new loans and all my loans are in forbearance and at zero percent interest due to covid. I have even paid off two student loans during this year. There was a new balance of {$1600.00} applied and showed on my XXXX report and when I called them on XX/XX/2020 and spoke to XXXX at XXXX they had no record of it. I have the phone call recorded as well. They have nobody I can speak with over the phone and I have to mail in a dispute for a reporting error they did that greatly affects my credit score. I know there are many lawsuits against them. This is a racket. It is absolutely insane to me that the government guarantees these loans with no real oversight of the companies and their predatory practices.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Navient has reported student loans that I held with them is delinquent during XXXX which is incorrect. I have contacted the company and they stated I need to dispute with the credit bureaus which I have done on 4 separate occasion. I have also submitted documentation of my account from the company 's website showing that the accounts have never been delinquent. As these are federal student loans had they been delinquent additional actions would have been taken by the company. The account shows the following : In XX/XX/XXXX paid as agreed, XX/XX/XXXX 90 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX 120 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX 150 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX 180 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX 180 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX 180 days past due, XX/XX/XXXX no data submitted, XX/XX/XXXX no data submitted, XX/XX/XXXX paid as agreed. This same reporting was done on all 7 of the accounts that I had open at that time with " Dept of Ed/Navient '' Accounts beginning with XXXX. I do not have anywhere else to contact, the bureaus state I must work with the creditor and the creditor states I must work with bureaus. I have been attempting to correct this error for more than 3 years and am at a loss as to what to do next. This issue has cost me several thousands of dollars in increased interest associated with the impact this has had on my credit score.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Investigation took more than 30 days

Consumer Complaint: For the payments of student loan account XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, payment was given over the phone to Navient ( at the time Sallie Mae ) Customer Service representative. Payment was not made to correct account two months in a row, and we only realized that the payment was put into other accounts after the fact. Please know that at the time, I had more than 5 separate student loan accounts for different years of XXXX with Sallie Mae, all of which were similarly paid by phone but never " past due. '' We spoke to Sallie Mae and were assured they would rectify the alleged " late '' payments that were not actually late, but misplaced by Sallie Mae themselves. However, after several years and requests this has not been done. As such, my credit report continues to show this specific loan as being not paid for the months of XX/XX/XXXX ( " 90 days past due '' ) and XX/XX/XXXX ( " 120 days past due '' ). I have recently initiated a credit report dispute through Experian, which rectified another similar discrepancy for XX/XX/XXXX. For whatever reason, the discrepancies for XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX were not similarly rectified. I demand that Navient finally resolve this discrepancy and notify the three credit reporting bureaus that this is resolved, remove the delinquencies, and to update my credit reports. Thank you.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: Currently, there are three separate loans for completing my XXXX XXXX XXXX which are reporting negatively on my credit report instead of just one which is causing me a problem when trying to downsize my current living situation so I can ensure I will not have any continued difficulties in meeting my financial obligations. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, I can no longer afford the rent at my current apartment and I need to down-size to a smaller less expensive apartment. However, because the credit requirements are now more rigid due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the main reasons for me being denied is due to the late payments on the three ( 3 ) loan disbursement dates of XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX & XX/XX/XXXX. I have since consolidated these loans and are currently making payments.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Problem with customer service

Consumer Complaint: Navient automatically placed my loam into a disaster payment deferral in XXXX without my permission. I am in progress of trying to refinance my primary residence, and investment property. Although this did not impact my credit score, they placed a note on my XXXX credit report stating I am impacted by a natural disaster and that my loan payments are in deferment. I never advised I was impacted by a disaster, I never requested any assistance, but they made these adjustments without my permission. I am now dealing with questions as Im managing a refinance. I called and they apologized for placing this in a deferment status, and impact it had on refinancing. I said I want a better answer why they would do this without my permission and they could not answer this. This is highly irritating, an inconvenience and down right unacceptable they are able to make adjustments to my loan without my permission. The impact can not be undone for what Im dealing with and I cant understand how this is legal.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled

Consumer Complaint: I got a notice that from a credit bureau on XX/XX/2020 that my student loans were in a state of deferment. I called Navient on XX/XX/2020 and found out that they automatically put both my subsidized and unsubsidized loans in a state of deferment without my consent. The customer service rep tried to tell me I was " saving money ''. I asked why they didn't ask me, and she said it is automatic, and I would get a letter soon to say they did it. This action could have cost me increased interest and lengthened the loan I have without my consent. While they did

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: Navient, formerly Sallie Mae, has called and threatened to break into my home and steal my college degree from me if I didn't pay this loan. I have a recording of the phone call. This loan is fraudulent. I have several police reports about it. The statute of limitations to collect on it is also up. I am telling Navient they need to stop contacting me about this loan and have no one else ever contact me about this loan again. The information of who took this loan out is not mine. It isn't even my name on the loan papers that Navient sent me. They are now evidence in my police records. The loans my dad XXXX XXXX took out with me as a cosigner are already paid in full. He did not take out a loan pretending to be me. This loan is fraudulent. The only loan with my father XXXX XXXX 's name on it was a loan he co-signed on with me and again it's paid in full. So sending me loan documents stating my father XXXX XXXX took this loan out is ridiculous. Remove this lian from my account and do not ever contact me again about these loans and do not have anyone else ever contact me again about these loans.
