Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Navient is currently showing my loans as 30 days late, even though they are deferred by the Cares Act. The deferment from the act is automatic, so there is no reason they shouldn't correct and update this information on my report immediately.

Consumer Complaint: I am writing this letter to you in reference to Navient Account Number : XXXX disputing late payment items reported by Navient to XXXX and XXXX for the period of XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I graduated from XXXX XXXX University in XX/XX/XXXX and began paying off a total student loan debt of approximately {$22000.00}. Over nearly two decades, I diligently made payments to Sallie Mae Servicing and always took my student loan commitment seriously. It was a great feeling in XXXX to write my final check to Sallie Mae and pay off my student loan in full. During that same period, my loan was sold from Sallie Mae to Navient. And to my surprise, I subsequentially learned that I still owed a very small amount ( approximately {$700.00} ). I explained to Navient that I was unaware of the outstanding amount and paid it immediately it. Why would I have paid my student loan for all those years only to make my final payments late? I was very concerned about my credit report and requested that Navient not report my account past due. But was assured that the negative items would be removed. Unfortunately, that never happened. I have repeatedly disputed these negative via electronic means because Navient refuses to take any phone calls on the matter and forces me to correspond only via mail or facsimile. On XX/XX/XXXX, I filed complaint # XXXX with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Navient responded by listing the exact dates of notification and attached a scan of a letter that was sent. That documentation cleared up the reason why I was unresponsive and unaware of the remaining debt. During the referenced time period, I had moved from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, FL XXXX to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, FL XXXX. Navient correspondences were sent to the wrong address. I have been negatively impacted for years. Given this mistake, late payments should be removed. This inaccurate, unfair, and not in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account status incorrect

Consumer Complaint: Navient has continued to incorrectly report to each of the credit bureaus ( XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ) that my student loans were late when, in fact, they were not. The dates in question are XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. During each period my loans were in forbearance. I have incessantly provided forbearance documentation signed by Navient contradicting their claims yet they refuse to correct the erroneous reporting.

Consumer Complaint: I consolidated my individual student loans and began to make payments under an income driven repayment plan. Several months after this I was told that for some reason one of the individual loans was not added in the consolidation. They then asked me if I wanted to re-consolidate again with the additional individual loan added. After agreeing to this and going through with the process, I was then informed that the 20 year repayment process was restarted and my previous monthly payments did not count towards the 240 required payments on my Income driven repayment plan. In addition to this I have had multiple issues with contact with the company and issues with my yearly re-certification of income to remain on my IDR plan.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer

Subissue: Received bad information about your loan

Consumer Complaint: I spoke with Navient three week ago l had received a letter stating l needed to make payments. I Express that l had received statement that we did not have to make payments during the Corono Virus Pandimic. Lady then stated she wanted to send me some papers to sign so l would not have to pay my loan for one year, l would have to sign these papers every year. As long as l was on Social Security and l did not get enough to pay my loan. I sign the papers Navient sends me, a letter today with three different amounts. XXXX, another XXXX, another XXXX. This is incorrect, inaccurate, and misleading. Several years ago l made my student loan payments. Navient continued to add interest while l made payments. The lady l spoke with stated she was sending me papers to sign so that l would not have to make payments for one year. She lied to me. I sign the papers then l receive these papers with these amounts. I am contacting The U. S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,. I would appreciate your assistance.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan

Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments

Consumer Complaint: The student loan servicer engaged in unconscionable commercial practices, deceptive conduct, and misrepresentations when servicing thousands of New Jersey consumers student loans. Navient s deceptive and unconscionable tactics at various times over the last decade Steering borrowers into forbearance instead of income-driven repayment plans better suited to their financial circumstances. Failing to inform borrowers of deadlines to recertify their eligibility for certain income-driven repayment plans. Misleading borrowers about the amount of their delinquency. Also, two counts of New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act ( CFA ) violations one for unconscionable commercial practices and deception, and one for misrepresentation. " Navient had a responsibility to help financially struggling borrowers select a loan payment solution that offered them a fair chance to pay back their debt. Instead, the company incentivized its employees to put company profit above their legal obligations, with little or no regard for the student borrowers who fell deeper into debt as a result. Consumer Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXXNavient My mother and I moved in spring 2016 after she and my father finalized their divorce. Ever since, yearly and nearly monthly, we have been receiving calls for my father from these companies at this address at our cell phone numbers and landline which have never been associated to his name. We have told the company on multiple occasions that we do not have contact with him and have no way of contacting him and it stops for a while and starts again. I do not have specific dates. Please just assume this happens on a monthly basis. I asked the agent for how they were getting my info and she told me she could not and would not divulge that to me.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report

Consumer Complaint: Since XX/XX/2020 I have submitted disputes with XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX after a review of my credit reports revealed that 12 late payments were being reported on my credit reports under a Navient student loan account during a time in which the account was in forbearance. The results of those disputes was that " Navient verified that the information was being reported correctly ''. This simply isn't true. How can payments be late when the account was in forbearance? This is killing my score and preventing me from purchasing a home by keeping my score in fair range when it should be in very good range.
