Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Navient refuses to accept a letter from our bank allowing us to make online payments. They have requested we send a letter from our bank, which we have done 3 times now, and they continue to refuse to open online payment options. Because of this, we are forced to call and make our payments. We have 2 federal loans and 2 private loans. At least every other month, they inaccurately allocate our payment to overpay the private loans and make our federal loans late. This results in late fees. When I call to correct it, they refuse to do so without my husband, the borrower, on the phone to correct it, stating they can not make changes to the account without the borrow, even though they had no trouble accepting the payment when I called. I have requested to speak to supervisors and am never helped any further. This is absurd. We pay our bill every month, and they constantly XXXX it up. The phone assistants we speak to are usually very sympathetic and helpful, but their hands are tied due to Navient 's awful and sketchy customer service policies that seem to be out to make it difficult for the borrower to make payments and make them on time.

Consumer Complaint: I got a call at work I asked them to call me back and the boy on the phone started literally yelling over what I was saying. I called back and a different boy told me I was rude and hung up. I was trying to find out how they got all of my personal information including my card # and social when I have never heard a word from this company. Then he hung up. I tried to call back and the # no longer worked

Consumer Complaint: I received my latest statement from Navient ; XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX, PA XXXX on XXXX XXXX, 2020. They said they had not received my payment for XXXX, due XX/XX/2020. However, I photograph my check, the statement and the properly stamped, addressed envelop. I mailed it on XX/XX/2020. This has been an on-going battle with Navient. It could be the USPS also. This is why I photograph everything. I refuse to pay late fees due to the malfeasance of the USPS or the chicanery of Navient. They have not made any concessions during the Trump Pandemic and XXXX XXXX election rigging. Navient is preying on it's consumers and not crediting my account. I have paid every payment on-time. I have made over-payments every time. Please investigate this matter. I sent my payment on time!

Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I offered to settle the amount owing to Navient in full upon them furnishing the original instrument of indebtedness in its original form. I communicated with them 3 times over the course of several months. I had asked them to provide this verification of the debt legally existing by XX/XX/2020. Not only did Navient make no attempt to provide me with the original instrument that created the liability, but Navient didnt even reply to my communications with them. They did, however, harass my extended family members with phone calls. They called the same family members multiple times, informed them that I have a debt, and asked them to pass on messages to me. They did this even though they already had all of my information about how to contact me and communicate with me. Due to their inability to provide the original instrument of indebtedness, I informed them that I considered the matter between us to be legally and financially settled. When they finally did reply to ME and communicate with ME, on XX/XX/XXXX, they included something that was NOT the original instrument of indebtedness and continued to try to collect the debt. The letter from Navient was simply signed XXXX, XXXX XXXX. There is no last name because nobody wants to be held liable for pursuing to collect an unverifiable debt. I am now being harassed by XXXX, XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXXXXXX, with whom I have no contractual relationship. They are third party interlopers, have no knowledge of the matter between myself and Navient, and have no business what-so-ever harassing me. I have disputed the debt with them and informed them that the debt was legally and financially settled. It seems to me that there is no original instrument of indebtedness in existence which, again, settles the matter legally and financially.

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is in regards to the high interest rate that i am being charged which is making it impossible to pay off my student loan. Majority of my payment is going into the interest which a small portion being applied to the principle. Furthermore, when i was making my payment plan several years ago, Navient did not take interest in providing a plan that would benefit me in the long run. Furthermore, I work for a non-profit organization for the past 7 years. Navient was not forthcoming on the loan forgiveness plan that i would have qualified for.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report
Subissue: Account information incorrect
Consumer Complaint: I noticed that there are still four ( 4 ) private student loans that Navient is reporting to all 3 major credit reporting agencies : XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and is appearing on my credit report. I do not believe the information is being reported accurately, is not complete information and is not verifiable. I disputed all four private student loan accounts with all 3 of the credit reporting agencies several times, and they said the information has been verified and/or updated by Navient. The date opened, date closed, date of last activity, date of last payment, high balance, monthly payment history status, etc. are appearing different on each credit reporting agencys report and some of that information is not appearing at all. These inaccurate unverified accounts and information that is being reporting by Navient has also caused me to be denied credit, is negatively impacting my creditworthiness and my credit score. I called Navient 's number listed on my credit reports ( XXXX XXXX XXXX in the afternoon of XX/XX/XXXX to verbally dispute the accuracy and completeness of the account information being reported and spoke with 2 people in 2 departments. Neither of the people I spoke with were able to locate any information about the private student loan accounts that are appearing on my credit reports. They said they can not see any record of any private student loans in my name. I provided them with all identifying information requested to try and locate these accounts. The found a profile for me as an individual, but no visibility of any private student loan accounts associated with my identity. I sent a certified mail letter ( attached ) similarly worded to above that was confirmed to be delivered to Navient on XX/XX/XXXX ( USPS delivery confirmation attached ). Navient did not respond or acknowledge my dispute with them in any way, nor did they inform mark the disputed accounts as disputed on any of my 3 credit reports. Since Navient has exceeded their required response time of 30 days AND did not indicate the dispute status on my credit reports, I believe they are out of compliance with their obligations as a furnisher of information per the Fair Credit Reporting Act and likely are violating my rights as a consumer. Navient can not legally report accounts to a credit reporting agency if none of their employees can locate any information about the accounts existence to verify.

Consumer Complaint: I have Sallie Mae loans on my reports that were paid off by the US Dept. of Ed during a consolidation of my loans when I left school. The loans are all now more than 10 years old and paid off for that period of time. According to the FCRA which I never see enforced by the CFPB, the old information is to be deleted when it reaches the expiration date. For positive credit it's 10 years, for negative credit it's 7 years. These items were positive and paid off in good faith by the US Dept. of Ed. The items are ALL MORE THAN 10 YEARS EXPIRED AND SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM MY CREDIT REPORTS - ALL OF THEM!!! I've repeatedly disputed this info with XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to no avail. They continue to contact the Student loan provider stating the info reported is " inaccurate '' not " STALE DATED & DUE FOR REMOVAL ''!!! If Sallie Mae or whoever they call themselves now do not remove these items from my reports effective immediately then I will sue them in civil court and go for monetary damages. I have all of my documentation to prove how many times I've disputed this with the bureaus including copies of complaints filed with the CFPB, that I've tried to resolve this issue yet no one seems to understand the disputes clearly spelled out other than me. Don't care how long it takes to get a court date I'll be ready! Remove all of the outdated accounts now or risk being sued. I'll go after all 3 credit bureaus too since Sallie Mae pays them to report inaccurate credit information. We can do this the easy way or the hard way, their choice!
