Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: Navient says that I can lower my payment from {$300.00} to {$25.00} per month based off of the Income Based Repayment Plan however, when I go to the Federal Student Aid and, talk to the people there, they say that I dont have any loans so, I can not do the income based repayment. I have been going round and round with Navient but, they will not help.

Consumer Complaint: I am doing a XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX at an officially recognized university ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). I have been trying to submit my in-school deferment application to Navient for over a month now. I have submitted it 3 times, but there is no acknowledgement of this. I keep getting emails saying there's a new document to view, and when I log in, it's just documents saying they have forwarded correspondence from my old address to my new address. I have never gotten a letter from them at the new address. They don't show any confirmation of my deferment status. They denied the first attempt because I was lacking attendance dates, which I since added and resubmitted. Since then, nothing. It says on their website that official documentation can replace a school official filling out their part of the application. Also, the university confirmation states that it is a valid document without a signature. Also, during covid times, it is hard to find anyone still working in their office to sign anything. Meanwhile, my account is now 2 payments past due.

Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: There is no way that these companies investigated this student loan. The same information continues to report on my credit. I honestly don't believe I was late and I don't agree with the total balance that they are reporting on my credit. It continues to report several inaccuracies among the 3 credit reporting agencies from the last student loan company. How is that possible? For example, Each bureau reports that I was late on a different date Also, Hows it possible that youve reported me 90 days late with no late payments prior to that? Wasn't Navient sued by Cfpb before for not applying payments to consumers accounts correctly?

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: My loans ( Direct subsidized and Direct unsubsidized ) were transferred to XXXX in XX/XX/2018. Since this time NONE of the payments that I made to Navient ( 43 payments ) or Sallie Mae ( 7 payments ) before the transfer have been counted by XXXX. The three attachments show my payments made to Navient and the corresponding missing information in the XXXX online system. Under PSLF and TEPSLF payment counts XXXX shows these dates as you do not have a bill due for this period and counted as ineligible payments. This is not correct. Nearly {$35000.00} in payments that I made toward my PSLF are not in their system. I have made 169 total payments ( out of the required 120 ) and need to have this payment information corrected for PSLF. I have contacted XXXX and Navient multiple times about this with no assistance. I have called and spent hours on the phone to be disconnected. I have filed a complaint with the US Dept Education and received an email on XX/XX/XXXX ( case XXXX ) that I would hear from the case worker in 15 days and that it should be resolved in 30 days. I can not get an update by email or a returned phone call. This needs to be corrected before the {$1000.00} monthly payments resume in XXXX. I have completed al requirements under the revised PSLF guidelines. This information needs to be corrected.

Issue: Getting a loan
Subissue: Confusing or misleading advertising
Consumer Complaint: I was made false promises by the XXXX XXXX XXXX, was never able to advance my career with degree I received, and the university was found guilty of defrauding students like me. The university made all the arrangements for my loans to pay for school, and after I graduated I ended having to defer my loans for several years because I could not make the payments. My federal loans were arranged through Navient, and Navient sent me advertisements to consolidate my loans under the pretense that it would save me money and reduce my payments. Shortly after I agreed to the consolidation, I found out that the over $ XXXX in loans from XXXX XXXX XXXX were eligible for forgiveness because the school had been found guilty of fraud. When I applied for the debt to be discharged, I was told that I was not eligible because the solicited consolidation from Navient had changed the status of my loan from federal to private. I do not believe that this was a coincidence. I feel it was a predatory lending practice done to disqualify me from debt forgiveness. I was never directly informed that my loans would no longer be federal loans and that I would no longer be eligible for the protections associated with them.
