Consumer Complaint: My FFELP loans through Navient ( I have two consolidated loans through them ) continue to accrue interest. Im not able to see this on their website, but its being reported to the credit bureaus. I noticed that they are increasing my student loan principle by charging interest each month. This has happened for XXXX and XXXX and I assume they will continue doing this despite the interest freeze unless I file a complaint. I have no income right now and am on a income driven repayment program. I know that there is an interest freeze from the Biden administration, and it looks to me like Navient is ignoring this and just continuing to charge interest anyway.

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Problem lowering your monthly payments
Consumer Complaint: I have a private Signature Student Loan currently with Navient loan company and formerly Sallie Mae. The loan is currently at the amount of {$31000.00} with a variable interest rate of 8.625 % earning approximately {$260.00} in interest monthly with my monthly payment being {$430.00}. The loan was disbursed while I was attending the XXXX University in XXXX after I transferred from Virginia XXXX XXXX in two payment on XX/XX/XXXX for {$12000.00} and XX/XX/XXXX for {$12000.00} for a total principal balance of {$24000.00}. It was then sold to Navient XX/XX/XXXX for {$35000.00} approximately {$11000.00} over the original principal. I was in 6 months of forbearance from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX and have been paying monthly ever since. My loan principal despite being paid toward for this length of time has never decreased to the original amount of {$24000.00} and is currently at {$31000.00}. I believe this loan company, Navient, and previous loan company, Sallie Mae, each have been predatory in their actions towards me and mismanagement of the loan repayment process. I have spent considerable money doing my part to pay down this loan Ive 7 years and not only has {$0.00} gone towards the original principal of {$24000.00} but only {$3300.00} has been paid toward the original buying price that Navient purchase my loan at in XXXX! Please help!

Issue: Struggling to repay your loan
Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: Was given 3 student loans from sallie mae one for {$7400.00} with an interest rate of 8.375 %, the second {$26000.00} with an interest rate 6.625 % and the third for {$23000.00} at an interest rate of 12.375 % after taking a forbearance in 2012. Now the only option Navient can give me to get a lower interest rate is to have my parents refinance their home, probably so it's no longer a 'student loan ' and not their problem. I am looking for actual options.

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: XXXX Navient has not participated in fair practices for repaying my student loans. I graduated in XXXX and have been paying for several years now with virtually no change in the amount owed on the loan. The original principal on the loan was {$20000.00} and was disbursed in XX/XX/XXXX. The payoff was set to end in XXXX but now has been pushed back to XXXX and the remaining amount on the loan is {$20000.00}. The worrying and upsetting issue is that very little of the payments have been applied to the principle. For example, on XX/XX/XXXX, a payment of XXXX was made on the loan, but {$110.00} went to the principal and {$280.00} went to interest. Another payment example was on XX/XX/XXXX where a {$420.00} payment was made on the loan, but only {$58.00} was applied to the principal and {$360.00} went to interest. More examples can be provided without hesitation as this has happened on every payment that was made since the first payment on the loan was made. It does not make any sense whatsoever that after paying on the loan since XXXX that there is no change in the amount owed. At this rate, I will be paying on this loan for the rest of my lifetime and is a prime example of predatory lending. I contacted Navient about this issue and received no resolution nor any answer to why more was applied to the interest and not to the principal. They offered no option of resolving this issue and left it as a " we're sorry but that's the way it is '' kind of feeling. Even on a so called " variable interest rate '' this should not be happening. This is beyond criminal behavior and for a family that needed help sending their daughter to post secondary education, we have been taken advantage of for over a decade from Navient. If nothing is resolved, legal action will be pursued and we will not be afraid to bring this to attention. Navient should do the correct thing by forgiving this entire loan due to unfair payment practices and taking advantage of yet another family.

Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Navient has recently submitted a bill ( statement date : XX/XX/XXXX ) associated with my account number XXXX that wrongfully states that I failed to issue a payment. Throughout XXXX I have complied and submitted my specified IBR payment, {$550.00}. Even their own account history reflects that I have faithfully submitted payment each month. The last payment made in XXXX shows that they applied {$470.00} to interest and {$75.00} to fees. This application of my payments was divergent from prior months wherein it all went to interest. On a side note, I thought during student loan payment pause that my payments would be applied to principal, but that past two years reflect that nothing has gone to principal. It is typical behavior for Navient to engage in false billing practices then unilaterally and falsely assert unpaid fess on my federal student loan account. I have previously submitted a complaint regarding wrongfully assessment of unpaid fees applied to my account due to their fraudulent and willful failure to accept my IBR application. They also purposefully misdirected me to enter into a hardship deferment when IBR was the best option. Those disputes remain continuously contested originating in XXXX with no resolution. Again, it appears that Navient is attempting to assess wrongful amounts and fines against my federal student loans. While others student loan borrowers have been able to enjoy the payment pause on student loans over the past two years, I have paid my IBR payments only to meet harassment at this juncture. Consumer Complaint: I am the consumer, original creditor and natural person. Navient has committed mail fraud pursuant to 18 USC 1341 by mailing me bills on a weekly basis requesting payments on fraudulent loan accounts that it opened in an attempt to defraud me to obtain money from me. Pursuant to 18 USC 8, the United States is responsible for all bills, not the consumer. Navient is a treacherous, devious, and evil entity.
