Consumer Complaint: Direct Student Loans and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) The purpose of message is to make a complaint against Navient. Navient has managed my school loans I took out since XXXX. The complaints are as follow : 1. I have been paying my loans for many years, now on an XXXX plan, and I still owe 164 % of what I borrowed in student loans because Navients advice to go into forbearance. 2. Due to Navients advice to choose forbearance, my loan balance and monthly payments grew due to interest capitalization causing more economic hardship 3. My private loans and federal loans were placed into forbearance starting in XXXX instead of offering an XXXX plan available during a time when I had difficulty making my student loans payments. 4. Some of my XXXX loans were consolidated without my consent. As a result, they have now become private loans. 5. Navient and other loan servicers did not provide accurate records of my progress toward forgiveness through XXXX plans and have not had a way to track my progress towards paying off my student loans. 6. With the split of my loans to XXXX, inaccurate application of my payments have been made. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: I am the co-borrower for my son 's private career training loan, which I have been paying for 12 years. Every monthly payment has been made on time except for last month ( XXXX, XXXX ) which could not be made because the lender 's computers were broken ; I called at the time to clarify what was wrong, at which time I was informed of the problem. I was assured that I would not be charged a late fee when making the payment. I was able to make make the XXXX payment through the lender 's computer payment system on XX/XX/2022. Upon making XXXX 's payment today, XX/XX/2022, there was a charge of {$51.00} for a late payment for XXXX 's bill. I called Navient. I, of course, got nowhere with the telephone clerk, who told me that she would send a message ; she could not tell me to whom she sent the message or the department to which she sent it. She further told me that there was no one with whom I could discuss the problem. I refused to pay the late fee and told her that I would contact the CFPB. The servicer/lender is Navient, which I think has its headquarters in Pennsylvania. I am furious that the computers that broke then charged me a late fee. Having no alternative and being shut out from speaking with anyone in authority at Navient, I have nowhere to turn other than the CFPB. Thank you.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, a class-action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the XXXX XXXX of Michigan based in XXXX, seeking recoveries on behalf of thousands of adults in XXXX states harmed by the sudden closure of XXXX schools in late XX/XX/XXXX. The plaintiffs counsel in the lawsuit is XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX of The XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, a federal judge certified this case as a class action. On XX/XX/XXXX, a federal judge entered a judgment on behalf of all class members- more than XXXX persons - against XXXX. The lawsuit is being brought on behalf of adults who were enrolled in programs at XXXX schools in late XX/XX/XXXX when the owners and operators of the schools abruptly locked the doors without warning and without providing any refunds, as well as on behalf of those who are graduates and who were denied continuing, lifetime placement services from the now-closed schools. The lawsuit also includes individuals who co-signed or otherwise became liable for a loan to pay the XXXX XXXX tuition for these students. The closure of the XXXX schools affected adults who enrolled in and paid for programs in Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The class-action lawsuit alleges that the owners and operators of the XXXX schools told students that by paying tuition costs as much as {$28000.00} or more for a six-month program, they would be able to participate in training through which they could become computer technicians with four XXXX certifications and after that receive continuing placement services from the schools in the field of information technology. Instead, the closure of the schools has left students who paid at least {$13000.00} in advance without the ability to complete the training programs or receive the continuing placement services at the XXXX schools as promised. The lawsuit alleges that the Defendants have failed to pay back a penny of the money taken from students. The lawsuit filed in federal court further alleges that the owners and operators of the XXXX schools were aware that their business was in dire financial trouble in XXXX. Still, they concealed these financial difficulties and the risk that they could not provide the program and placement services to the students enrolling in their programs. Instead, according to the lawsuit, the Defendants allegedly began an admissions push that included hiring numerous additional salespeople, increasing the compensation and commissions to such persons, slashing tuition at many schools, and enrolling as many students as possible. That lawsuit alleges that during the admissions push in late XXXX, Defendants knew or should have known that, due to XXXX financial trouble, the students they were enrolling in might not receive either the training program or the placement services which some were paying as much as {$28000.00}. According to the lawsuit, the Defendants also told students that they would receive full refunds if the school closed before they completed the program, then promptly locked the doors without giving any refunds. The XXXX XXXX, XXXX, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of the former XXXX students, is a law firm that aims to help those who are victims of unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices committed by for-profit schools and others. For-profit schools selling education to adults are big businesses in the United States XXXX With direct mail campaigns and through the newspaper, television, and Internet ads, these schools, institutes, and so-called " colleges '' frequently attempt to lure adults into expensive programs of study with promises of future employment in high-paying jobs or easy-to-obtain credentials, high school " diplomas '' or college " degrees. '' The owners and operators of these schools often make huge profits through tuition payments, typically paid with federal, state, or private loans obtained by or on behalf of the students. Many state and federal laws prohibit unfair and deceptive practices, and some rules also reward whistleblowers who report fraud committed against the government.

Consumer Complaint: Navient has not provide the information I requested over the phone. I called XX/XX/2022 and requested documentation showing how I was approved for all my private loans, which is to include the Debt to income ration and my credit score at the time when I was approved for all the loans. I was told that I would get something in the mail in 15 days and never received. I called again on XX/XX/XXXX and was told that I would have the documents next week and I still have not received the documents. I called again on XX/XX/2022 and was told a letter was created and I would get documents by next week and I still did not receive to date. Navient does not seem to want to strive to get me what I need. This is giving credence for me to believe that there was deception involved with how my loans were approved. XXXX XXXX themselves have already been proven to be practicing predatory lending in regards to my Federal loans.

Consumer Complaint: I was approved for 100 % Veteran Disability in XX/XX/XXXX and a result I was also approve for a Total and Permanent Student Loan Forgiveness in XX/XX/XXXX. Navient was suppose to identify my portion of a spousal consolidation that was to be discharged along with applicable interest. I was told in XXXX of XXXX that they discharged approximate {$30000.00} of the loan balance, but =when I asked for a breakdown of that number I was never given that to validate they discharged the correct amount of my loans as well as the correct interest. I believe the only discharged the accrued interest over 10 years and not the interest an my original principle. In addition they are reporting that I still have an outstanding loan balance on my credit reports with all three bureaus which is not correct since they are no solely the responsibility of my ex-spouse and should be removed from my social security number for reporting purposes.

Consumer Complaint: Navient lied to me about my XXXX XXXX plan status with XXXX and cohersed me over the phone into agreeing to a forbearance. They initially contacted me via email on XX/XX/XXXX stating my XXXX plan was set to increase on XX/XX/XXXX. By XX/XX/XXXX they sent me a bill stating I owed them {$210.00} with additional unpaid fees of {$41.00} due on XX/XX/XXXX. My payment amount for many years has been {$0.00} as I have not had income. I am currently unemployed and my payments should still remain {$0.00}. I checked with XXXX and their system informed me that my XXXX XXXX plan was not due to rectify until XX/XX/XXXX. When I spoke to a Navient representative over the phone they told me I had no choice but to agree to a forbearance and in order to make the account current. They stated I would need to resubmit my XXXX form with them directly ( not though StudentAid.gov ) in order for my account to reflect my XXXX. I was told I had to go to ( XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ) fill out the form and submit it through their own website upload link ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) in order to even qualify for XXXX. Even though it states on their own website " Income-Driven Repayment Plan Request form Only upload if you didn't submit your request at XXXX ''. None of the information the representative was giving me was correct and they were denying any existence of my current XXXX XXXXXXXX status. It is my understanding that they are lying to consumers, charging late fees and misleading them to agree to a forbearance. The representative informed me I had to choice and my account would further become delinquent if I did not agree to their terms. Furthermore, the representative told me that even if I resubmitted my XXXX form it would take 21 days for them to apply any changes, which would further result in delinquency. Navient 's deceiving tactics in forcing customers into forbearance is unlawful and needs to be address ASAP. It seems there is a lot of literature online about this company doing this to many loan holders. Navient has done this to my many times over the past few decades, and unfortunately until know I was unaware of their unlawful practices.

Consumer Complaint: On Friday XX/XX/2022 I called Navient to Pay off a School Loan. I have XXXX Loans with Navient. # XXXX {$12000.00} and XXXX # XXXX {$28000.00}. I told the agent I want to pay off my school loan # XXXX for the amount listed. So we processed the payment ( I had already made a payment for XXXX ) and payment was completed. I looked into my account to see the loan paid off, and it shows a balance of {$220.00}! I called Navient and what the Navient Service agent is telling me does not make sense. XXXX XXXX # XXXX indicated since I have a consolidated loan they applied this to the other loan. Mind you these are XXXX separate loans. I want to be completely done with the XXXX XXXX, so I can qualify for a Loan to purchase a home. I was very clear, I never understand what these Navient Agents tell us about our schools loans, however we just take the information and hope its true. This time I believe they are adding fees without my consent or knowledge. I just want the loan paid off, so I can qualify for my purchase as soon as possible. Thank you so much for looking into this, i appreciate your time! XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I have been making payment, but my loan keep increasing. So, on XX/XX/XXXX I went to the Navient website to review my private loan history to find out why my loan keep increasing, I only had a {$17000.00} loan. When I opened my account, I started from the year I took the loan. When I look down on XX/XX/XXXX which was the date I took the loan, I saw a {$48000.00} unpaid Principal added to my principal ( {$17000.00} ). I called Navient on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to XXXX ( ID # XXXX ), I explained the reason why Am calling. I told XXXX to a look at my loan history and focused on XX/XX/XXXX. I asked her to explain to me why there's a {$48000.00} unpaid principal added into my {$17000.00} loan principal, she replied I don't know. She requested to send my complaint to the complaint department, I ask to speak to the department. She informed me that I can not speak to them because they do not take calls, so I agree to send my complaint to them. on XX/XX/XXXX I called Navient to check the status of the complaint, I spoke to XXXX ( ID # XXXX ). I informed XXXX the reason why am calling, He pulled up my account and informed me that he can not find my complaint and can not see what I'm talking about. He put me on hold for about XXXX minutes. when XXXX came back, he informed me about a letter that send out to me. I asked him what in the letter, XXXX informed me that the letter stating that the information 's in my account on the Navient website are not accurate. I ask him what he means by that. He repeated it again, the information 's in my account on the Navient website are not accurate. I ask him if all my payment showing on the Navient website are accurate. He didn't answer me. I ask XXXX where the {$48000.00} came from, Again XXXX repeat the same information from the letter that the information 's in my account on the Navient website are not accurate. I ask XXXX to resubmit my complaint because I want to find out Where the {$48000.00} came from. XXXX informed me that he will resubmit the complaint. After a week speaking to XXXX, I receive the letter. When I review the letter, it seems like someone manually pushing some numbers to make information looks good. After about two weeks I called Navient again, no one seems to know what I'm talking about. No one can find my complaint and no record about the {$48000.00}. They keep telling me that the information 's in my account on the Navient website are not accurate. I went back to Navient website, I see everything has been changed with no explanation about the {$48000.00} and my balance still the same. Please I need help and any law advise. I attach all documents with the loan information, the letter and the correction they made. The first document is with {$48000.00}, second is the letter and last is the correction they claim that they made.

Consumer Complaint: I had filed a complaint against Navient ( student loan company ) with CFPB XX/XX/XXXX. Through CFPB, Navient responded ; however, I later understood the response to be related to a bankruptcy filing, which Navient, in their response, stated : " The Administrative Forbearance placed on your account is in connection with a nationwide class action lawsuit, under an Agreed Order which is pending in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. '' I did not and have not filed for bankruptcy at any time in my adult life. I was not contacted about a bankruptcy lawsuit and the forbearance placed on this account by Navient or any other party associated with Navient. My XX/XX/XXXX complaint against Navient was in relation to the 39-state settlement reached with the states ' AGs in regards to Navient 's offshoot company Sallie Mae 's predatory student loan lending practices. I was primary on this loan and therefore should have been alerted to a bankruptcy filing and forbearance status placed on this student loan. Please see my XX/XX/XXXX complaint below. This complaint is based on the 39-stated settlement reached with the states AGs : XX/XX/XXXX complaint filed with CFPB " Navient has reached a 39-state settlement to clear student loans for thousands of students due to the attorneys general litigation via Navient 's ( offshoot of Sallie Mae ) predatory student loan lending practices. I took out such a loan in XXXX but did not attend for more than a few weeks due to a job offer and relocation to a different state. I tried to reach an amicable resolution with the lender but was not able to and the loan has increased from XXXX to XXXX. No payments have been made in several years, however the loan is being reflected as paying as agreed -- I suspect this may be in light of a stipulation in the 39-state settlement agreement. I have disputed the loan based on the press release and news reports of the settlement, but the credit bureaus are sticking with Navient 's claim that the loan stands. Please help me get this resolved and cleared from my credit report via part of the recent settlement agreement. The school I attended is on the list in the settlement. Thank you. '' XXXX XXXX
