Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Since XXXX of XXXX, in the past XXXX months, they have put my student loan back into repayment 5 times. I am currently a student at a registered school. Each time I have to contact them to put it back into deferment which they have done up until the most recent time that I contacted them. My loan is still not deferred and no one has responded to me. I have also asked questions about why this continues to happen and how I can change lenders which has also not been responded to. XXXX change in loan terms ( loan put into repayment ) XXXX new financial information ( deferment ) XXXX change in loan term ( loan put into repayment ) XXXX in-school deferment granted XXXX change in loan terms ( loan put into repayment ) XX/XX/XXXX in-school deferment granted XXXX billed for monthly payment ( received late fee of {$4.00} when paid in XXXX as I thought it was in deferment per in school deferment granted on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX billed for monthly payment XXXX in school deferment granted XXXX change in loan terms ( loan put into repayment ) Message sent on XX/XX/XXXX regarding in school status with no response. Loan is still in repayment. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a financial institution. I am really tired of dealing with this company and I would really like to know how I can change my lender. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: This is my second letter requesting that your company correct your own mistakes. I have received no response from you and yet you continue to report to the credit bureaus, even verifying this account to them when I dispute it. I am well aware that is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act to continue to report information on an account in dispute, especially when you have failed, per the FCRA and FCBA, to verify the account with documented proof. Therefore, I am humbly requesting, once again, that you either verify this account by providing the following information or delete it completely with any and all credit bureaus to which you are reporting. A detailed and itemized statement of ALL activity to this account, including the contract I must have allegedly signed to bind me to this debt ; The photo identification I must have provided at the time of starting services with you in order for you to assure that this was not an attempt of someone else to commit fraud against me as required by the Patriot Act ( You do take these precautions correct? ) An itemized statement breaking down the balance you claim I owe ; and Any other documentation you must have in order to truthfully make a notarized statement on your letterhead, attesting to your compliance of the FCBA. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Subissue: Keep getting calls about your loan
Consumer Complaint: Navient-formally Sallie Mae under the Virginia code had five years to collect upon my delinquent debt or sue me. When the five years expired, I sent them a cease and desist letter. Instead, Navient has continued to harass and call, threatening to sue and take actions to which they can not. I also notifed them that in trying to collect upon my dept they broke several laws- trying to trick family members, claiming they are above consumer protection law when trying to work with... etc. Now they continue to send notices and call and leave threatening messages for my family. They have no right to claim anything- especially when I told them this and tried to explain everything the first time they tried to harass and lie their way to trying to get me to come out of delinquency. XXXX marks 10 years since the original loan. This needs to stop.

Consumer Complaint: I am asking for help. I took out Federal loans back in the XXXX 's so I could go to college. I had to given my Dad at the time was in a XXXX Home because of XXXX XXXX. Fast forward, in those days, I took out the XXXX that I could in student loans to get through 4 years of college. I regret that now. Fast forward again, once I got out of school all I could get for work was a basic customer service job with a bank. The monthly student loan payments around that time in the late XXXX 's were too much for me so I called XXXX ( servicer at that time ) for help. They offered the forbearance program which was so easy to enter into. There lies the problem. A basic customer service representative at that time who knew nothing about finances and explained nothing about repercussions for continuous forebearance over a number of years, with a simple click of a button, changed my financial situation forever. Fast forward again, as a young adult out of college I continued to barely make ends meat as a customer service rep. Over the course of 6 years as a basic customer service rep., not knowing the true long term consequences of a long term forebearance plan, my principal student loan balance blew up from $ XXXX to over $ XXXX. That was back in XXXX or XXXX. Ever since, I've been trying to keep up with the payments but for many many years all my monthly payments have done is pay off the accrued interest each month. My loans were moved over to Navient back in XXXX and they operate the same as XXXX. There is little or no understanding of my situation by them. All they offer are income based repayment plans at this point and that offers very little relief because all my monthly payment is doing is paying the accured interest each month. My monthly minimum payment based upon my income the last 2 years or so has been around {$450.00} and again all that payment is does is pretty much pay the loan accrued interest each month. I am crying out for help! I have paid XXXX and Navient thousands and thousands of dollars over the years in trying to keep up with student loan payments and it seems that all Navient wants to do is bury me financially. I still can't believe that it's been almost 25 years since I graduated college and my student balance is pretty close to the student balance I had back in XXXX after my forebearance period ended! How these student loan service providers aren't legally required to cap accrued interest on student loans at some point is absolutely mind boggling! I am now XXXX XXXX XXXX with a XXXX XXXX XXXX son and still making student loan payments that just cover my monthly accrued interest. I don't want to be a grandfather still making student loan payments in my XXXX 's or XXXX 's. Again, I have paid back thousands and thousands of dollars over the last 25 years. Navient will not listen and I am putting in a formal complaint that their business practices are corrupt. Please help!

Subissue: Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Consumer Complaint: On XXXX I called to ask about to defer but the option I have is forbearance. They said I have to pay {$50.00} and provide a financial statement. If I loss income where does the {$50.00} come from? I would rather use that for groceries and necessities. Why jump through barriers just to get a forbearance? The previous company did not have to have these requirements. Navient is a rip off!!

Issue: Dealing with your lender or servicer
Subissue: Trouble with how payments are being handled
Consumer Complaint: Had my business accountant look through my XXXX year student loan payment history. He feels overpayments were applied incorrectly and were not applied to the principle correctly on many occasions. I have contacted Navient in the past and XXXX assured me that payments were processed correctly. I have no background in financial accounting so I can not confirm that is the case. I'd like Navient ( my student loan servicer ) or, preferably an independent XXXX XXXX review my payment history to confirm that all standard payments and overpayments were applied correctly- as Navient has a long, well documented history of erroneously processing and applying payments.

Consumer Complaint: You are asking for me to pay on a loan which the soft report has no indication of having a loan with you other then private loan. Even private loan is question marked since it shouldn't have been a private loan in first point. Second You are asking for income base repayment with deadline of XX/XX/. Do you get your taxes done by XX/XX/? I don't think anyone has them done by then. I think this is unethical. You don't even have w2 out. I have many servicers and I have paid you before all of them. You keep asking for more and more and you keep screwing up. Also, you put a private loan check on federal account if it were accurate? Private loan should be emulated by balance not consistent through whole loan. This is not a duplicate. This is reoccurring issues with additional issues. I've paid over a years wage of this loan and I shouldn't be getting any bills. This loan shouldn't be XXXX every month. I paid over XXXX of this loan and balance should be emulated what I paid. Also, you continue to not find a solution. This loan should not be even in the mix since I was told by fasfa my family made too much. My family isn't tied to my finances and they have never been tied. Regardless of promissory note. This loan was mislead and should have been eligible for a federal loan and Pell grants. Since I was mislead XXXX and education department should be responsible for paying.
