Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: Im a victim of identity fraud. I found this new collection account on my credit report. Company name is National credit system. Someone stole my credential from a hotel back in XXXX. This social security was stamped with for work use only I became a U.S. citizen now with my new SSN and try to open a bank acct when they told me this Social security was already been used with XXXX XXXX Previous to this I did not have nothing under my records since my social was specify for work use only. This account ( National credit system ) is recent since they reported under a different name on the mid of XXXX of XXXX. Ive called the company and they refuse to tell me the name that the account was open under. But then also sent me a fraudulent letter via email. The letter does not contain a form number nor a heading containing to Dispute report for the account. I believe National credit systems tried to change the name on their account or intending to alter the name and address to the account. This is unlawful and refuse to answer my question. I also filled out a FTC report which they have my information. A copy of my identity verification will attached. And a my credential information. I will leave a copy of their un natural letter. The amount was for XXXX $ I will leave this open for others to see how fraudulent companies can be and hopefully helps someone. Thank you

Consumer Complaint: National Credit System has been reporting an old debt and has completely false dates about when I was living at the complex for the lease agreement. I do not know if National Credit Systems is the one providing false dates or if they purchased it with false dates. I have not lived or paid anything to the management company in over 7 1/2 years. I called them and spoke with a nice representative telling me I need to file a police report about it. I have asked for these documents that supposedly say I lived there in XXXX, which is impossible as I was under a different lease agreement at the time in XXXX XXXX. I have yet to receive these documents via email as requested. When I do receive them I will investigate further. Am I actually required to file a police report for false aging of a debt?

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2020, at approximately XXXXXXXX XXXX I applied online for an apartment.. I received and email at XXXX with information to access my application and a link to complete the application. I also received an email stating " almost done! '' at XXXX XXXX. At XXXX, I got an email saying, XXXX XXXX. At the same time I received an email stating XXXX will review my completed application soon. At XXXX the same day, I received an email stating " others on the application that will need to complete their application before the application can proceed. '' At that same time, I received another email stating, " oh, so close. '' " Remember, just because you have completed the application does not mean that you are finished with the leasing process. We still need to get your lease finalized. '' I did not do anything from that point on and chose to apply for a different apartment in XXXX. I applied got approved, and then, signed a lease with them. I have never XXXX did I complete the process -- as their email verifies. I am in collections because of, misleading practices. I am not unique to this deceptive practice. I saw the same complaint with the BBB after being contacted by a collection agency. They are taking advantage of college students who are looking for housing and weighing their options. We did not come to an agreement nor a meeting of the minds. I applied for an apartment but never completed the process, nor did a co-signer sign on my behalf, which was required. On XX/XX/2020, at XXXX, I received an email stating, " We hope you're excited as we are for Move-in Day! This was a surprise to me because I did not complete the process. I had already secured an apartment. I called to let them know I was not going to lease from them and did not complete the process. I was told I signed the lease when I applied for the unit and that I needed to find someone to lease the unit. I was not in agreement I have emails that support my statements.

Consumer Complaint: I have contacted by ( certified mail via USPS ) XXXX and have not had this issue resolved. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, everything reported has to be 100 % accurate on a credit report. XXXX is reporting addresses that are not accurate or relevant. I did not give XXXX permissible purpose to report false and inaccurate information on my credit report. I can not receive mail or any correspondence nor do I have access to any of these addresses. XXXX is reporting inaccurate account numbers and reporting collection accounts as " late ''. When I cross checked my credit reports the account numbers are different across all of the agencies. In my certified Letter I requested the original contract to show proof the accounts were valid. All i received was a letter saying the accounts were verified and none of the request made in the letter. There is a need to insure that consumer reporting agencies exercise their grave responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and a respect for the consumers right to privacy. My rights have been violated under 15 USC 1681 section 602A, which states I have the right to privacy and under 15 USC 1681 Section 2 which states a consumer reporting agency may NOT furnish a credit report without the consumers written permission. Consumer Complaint: To whom this concerns, I went through a divorce in 2020 and XXXX XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX told the respondent XXXX XXXX that he needed to pay 50 % of the acquired joint debts within the legal documentation of the Divorce Decree. ( Please see attached Decree ) page 4, P-2 ( c ) I want to pay my portion of the debt that was ordered by the Judge and after which I would like for the debt to be taken out of my name. I contacted The National Credit Systems several times over the last 2 years who hold the fore mentioned debt and they told me that I have to pay the entire amount of {$6100.00} with no offer of reduction, even though I explained to them that I was only responsible for 50 %. I also told them that previously I received a reduced offer of {$3000.00}. They stated that wasnt their problem and I would have to pay in full. I also recently received documentation that didnt correlate, the rent was {$1500.00} and I was told the 2 months rent was suppose to have be paid however they added a reletting fee of {$3000.00} but the were able to rent the apartment out shortly after. So I am unsure of why there was a charged if the said apartment was rented. XXXX XXXX was awarded the house and had access to pay his portion of the debt and the joint credit card debt but he hasnt attempted to do so. The respondent has somewhere to live but as it is a broken lease although he told me that that he handed in the required notice. So now, I am the one having difficulty finding accommodation and with the current situation of hard economic times I am sure you understand why this is imperative to achieve a solution. Please can you look into this and assist Kind regards XXXX XXXX

Consumer Complaint: I noticed National Credit systems on my credit report stating that I owe an apartment complex by the name of XXXX XXXX. I called the apartment complex which the lady I spoke with said no we dont have your information on file. I called national credit systems and the lady I spoke with was very rude. She wouldnt let me talk and when I decided to speak up and inform her that I was a victim of identity theft and I never lived at this residence she hung up on me. I tried to call back she wouldnt answer. I found their email online on their website and emailed the required documents on XXXX XXXX. This collection is still on my credit report which it should not be at all. I am a victim of identity theft. An identity thief used my personal information without my permission to open an account and make purchases with XXXX XXXX XXXX. This debt is not mine.. The information listed below, which appears on my credit report, does not relate to me. This account was fraudulently opened in my name. XXXX also decided to hang up on me when I said I was submitting a complaint.
