Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed
Subissue: Debt is not yours
Consumer Complaint: I am requesting a copy of my signed lease contract to prove that I have accepted and agreed to any charges. It is illegal to charge for something that I have not accepted or signed. According to the law, I have the right to evidence and the only thing they have sent me is a payment history with dates that they claim I owe them. However, this is not true as I was not living in the apartments when they claim my first default was. I have spoken with the administration several times, but they do not have a copy of my contract or any information about it. I have disputed this multiple times but have not received any response. According to the fair credit law, I need all the proof that the account is mine.

Consumer Complaint: Also I was told that the attorney wasnt able to send any information with his name on it prior to a case that happened some other time. National Credit System refused to speak with me and I asked to speak with a manager to understand and I was told to contact someone else. Why am I contacting someone else when there information is on the credit report. Seems like fraudulent actions.

Consumer Complaint: This company went and placed a collection account on my credit report but has never sent me a bill or even reached out to me. I have filed multiple disputes with all 3 credit reports and they just send back that they verified it yet they don't show me proof of the verification like I have asked them too. I have written the company multiple times with the little information I have on my credit report about the account and I have never heard a thing from them. I have even written the CEO of the collection company and no response.

Consumer Complaint: Moved out of apartment early and was charged a {$2700.00} fee. My security deposit insurance covered {$2500.00}, which leaves a debt of {$270.00}. I am currently paying back the {$2500.00} to the deposit insurance. The landlord will not acknowledge receipt of the {$2500.00} that they received on my behalf. Also have made numerous attempts to contact the debt collector, including disputing the debt twice. I get no response.

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is based on an incorrect balance due to the management company that has been reported to the credit bureau while I was working with the company to rectify the issue. My lease ended XX/XX/XXXX and had a verbal agreement to stay until the end of the month. I moved out at the end of the month as discussed and when the final bill was received it was incorrect. It took awhile to get in contact the property manager but once contacted they sent me an email with the correct amount owed but neglected to acknowledge my security deposit from when I first moved in. Considering the property has changed management and property managers serval times within this time it has caused a break down in communication but also affected my credit account.

Consumer Complaint: I've been a resident of XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX till XX/XX/XXXX. I vacated my apartment in the end of XX/XX/XXXX and paid all my dues. During vacating, I ensured proper cleaning is done and all damage/cleaning charges are paid for. I did gave my email address and postal address to ensure to take care of any pending water bills as well. I haven't received any communication on mail or email, but suddenly I see some pending water bill due for my last month being directly reported to credit collection, without a single intimation to me. This caused my score to come down by XXXX points. This is unwarranted and I would have immediately paid, of If I had got a small intimation about this. Please take a look at my rental history with you, I always had paid my rent one month in advance and no single instance of late payment or due. But in this case, I've received no communication on pending payments, but yet directly got reported to collection. I'm still ready to pay the pending water bill of {$120.00}, but please ensure that this charge falls off my credit report. Ive spoken to both XXXX and XXXX over the past few days, but they say they can't help on this regard. Please take a look at my rental history and understand that this is a lack of communication from your team and I should not be paying a price for this. The credit agency is infact asking for {$320.00} ( a {$200.00} extra penalty ) which is completely unfair given the fact I'm not notified on the pending charge. Please look into this matter and help me out. I can make the pending payment without penalty and please ensure the debt collection comes off my report

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX and I, along with my old roommate XXXX XXXX, were amazing tenants at the XXXX XXXX XXXX in apartment XXXX in XXXX NC, from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. We were excellent tenants that paid our rent every month that we lived in the apartment complex. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email stating that I owe XXXX, around {$76.00} was for the rent and the rest was due to damages to the carpet that were not visible when we left the apartment ( They claimed the " damage '' was only visible when they lifted up the carpet ). On XX/XX/XXXX I went to the XXXX nearby and got a money order for {$280.00} per XXXX XXXX XXXX ( Property Manager ) instruction. Despite paying on time and giving my money order directly to XXXX, we received letters from National Credit Systems , Inc. ( a collections agency ) stating that we still owe the {$280.00} that I already paid to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX months later in XXXX. I immediately called the office and after being on hold for hours, XXXX XXXX came to the phone and asked for my money order information so he could confirm the payment. After that, he told me he would get back to me with more information. XXXX weeks later I went in person to follow up after not hearing back, and XXXX told me that the money order was in the system and I owed nothing. However, I continued to receive calls from the National Credit Systems debt collectors stating I still owe money to XXXX XXXX XXXX I have called XXXX XXXX multiple times to determine the state of my money order, and each time I find out the money order has still not been cashed. I returned another XXXX weeks later in person and demanded evidence in writing from XXXX that I did not owe any money to XXXX XXXX XXXX, all he could give me was an email, and according to him the accountants are the only ones able to provide me with a receipt. In hindsight, I should have gotten a receipt of payment the day I gave my money order to XXXX, but I expected him to do his job. It is very disappointing as a 100 % paying renter that I am now fighting with a collection agency for funds I have already paid. National Credit System , Inc is demanding {$280.00} which I have already paid. I have filed a dispute with the collections agency XXXX but have not gotten a status update on any of these disputes. It has been over XXXX weeks since the last dispute was filed through their website. I have sent in a dispute to XXXX today, since this debt I do not owe hit my credit on XX/XX/XXXX.

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/2023, I sent in a Lawful Notice of Dispute, I gave the company a period of ten ( XXXX ) days from the date of your receipt of my notice and if not then the account information must be completely deleted from my credit report, and a copy of such deletion request should be sent to me at once, or I will take legal action. It's been over a month and they still have yet to provide this information or to delete this information from my credit report. They are now in default. They are also violating Fair Credit Reporting Act ( F.C.R.A. ), Violation of the F.D.C.P.A., Defamation of character by reporting this debt on my credit report while also violating 15 U.S. Code 1681b since they never got my permission to report this in writing, and also, the use of my copyrighted property.
