Issue: Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt is not mine

Consumer Complaint: I saw an entry on my credit report from National Credit Systems. I wrote them a letter and they never responded to me, they only updated my credit report that I owe {$59.00}. I then researched the internet for the company and found them online. There is a section that allowed me to put in my social security number and the amount owed as listed on my credit report. It would not accept the information to allow me into their system. I have attached a screen shot of the information as listed on my credit report and the section in red the keeps asking me for valid information. As a result of this company not responding to my letter and I can not enter their system to verify this account how can they report on my credit repot that I owe this debt? And if I do owe this debt they are not communicating with me or allowing me into their system to verify this. It appears they just want to report negative information and can not verify to me I owe this debt. They are violating my rights and reporting false information on my credit report to damage my financial character and causing me XXXX.

Issue: Disclosure verification of debt

Subissue: Not given enough info to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: Upon vacating a previous apartment complex the landlord had claimed damages to their carpet which we immediately disputed. The apartment complex did not provide an itemized list of damages as requested by tenant and within the 30 days as required per the lease and Massachusetts state law. National Credit Systems, who had then become the debt collector contacted us in regards to the disputed debt. We immediately told them the debt was in dispute. They claimed they would verify the debt and get back to us. Shortly after National Credit Systems stated the debt was valid and provided proof of the damaged carpet with a photo copy of a pay stub of the former tenant. A pay stub to prove that the tenant was in debt in regards to damaged carpet? This sequence of events is in violation of 15 U.S.C.1601 Fair Debt Collections Practice Act. This by far does not come close to validation of debt even after requesting validation by the accused debt holder.

Issue: Disclosure verification of debt

Subissue: Not given enough info to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: I have a debt with an apartment community and had called the agency listed on my credit report. They told me that the account had been transferred to an alleged law firm. I attempted to contact this law firm to resolve the issue and was immediately questioning whether or not they were legitimate. I performed research on them and had found legal action taken against them, multiple complaints on the XXXX website, and many persons stating they were not legitimate. Thus, I contacted the firm about the issue and never received any real information on their practices or my debt. I asked them for a validation letter to be sent, but they never stated the address it would be sent to and did not disclose the information that would be on that letter, such as my rights under the FDCPA. Since my suspicion was risen, I contacted the apartments that I owe and they had stated that it was very strange for the account to be transferred to another agency and not be handled by National Credit Systems, since they only deal with that agency and not XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. A lady at the apartment had contacted National Credit Systems to confirm that the account was still under their care and had notified me that it was, so I called them back and got the same answer, that the account had been transferred to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, apparently a company under the same umbrella as National Credit Systems. I attempted one last time to speak with them about the issue and not one thing was resolved and no other information was given to me.

Subissue: Not given enough info to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: I 've disputed some of their claims and sent proof of payment of rent, but have asked for further clarification on other claims of destruction. The agency states the matter has been investigated but they are agreeing with the apartment complex that I still owe. I have asked for dated receipts of their claims but have not received proof I owe them. When I asked for receipts, they sent same paperwork as before. I need more information in order to proceed. What happens when they investigate your disputes and still claim you owe them? I sent photo copies of paid rent from bank. I sent proof of payment and I 'm still disputing them but they claim I still owe. Also claim pet damage. I 'm disputing the extent of damage and will not pay for items they should do before a new tenant moves in such as painting. Also manager when I moved in wanted to put new carpet in. I asked her not to because I had pets, but to wait until I moved out before doing so.
