Issue: Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem
Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: I toured an apartment complex and paid a one time {$35.00} tour fee. I never selected an apartment with them, signed any kind of obligation to them, nor ever even verbally confirmed with them that I intended to move in to their complex. They checked my credit and said they could offer me an alternative deposit arrangement for an additional {$300.00} over their normal deposit due should I wish to sign with them. I told them over the phone I was undecided. Months later I got a collection company call saying I owed this complex {$300.00}. I explained this was either a mistake or fraud and described the above interactions. I immediately called the complex and spoke with a woman in the office and told her this was a mistake or worse and it needed to be corrected. I heard nothing back. I called again and left a message. Again no reply. A third call and another answering machine and no reply. I emailed the XXXX XXXX XXXX detailing my dispute. No reply. I then saw this showing up on my credit report and I disputed it there. No reply! Now today I see it STILL SHOWING on my credit report only now turned over to a collection company. There is absolutely no possible way this debt can ever have been verified because it simply does not exist. This is either a coding error or fraud on the part of the rental company.

Consumer Complaint: I was living in an apartment at XXXX XXXX and was forced to find a new place to live because of an overgrowth of mold. XXXX XXXX would not treat or remove the mold and it was affecting my health. XXXX XXXX reported a collection account on my credit report, so I hired an attorney and proceeded with litigation in XXXX of XXXX, resulting in a financial settlement of {$2500.00} from XXXX XXXX to myself. In addition, it was ordered to remove any collection account notifications from my credit report. It is now XXXX and the collection accounts are still reporting on my credit report. I have sent disputes to Nation Credit Systems, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX and included copies of my records from the settlement, including the owner and manager 's signatures. Since those disputes were submitted, instead of removing the accounts from my report ( as court ordered ) ; on XX/XX/XXXX the accounts were reported to be " verified '' with National Credit System and have been updated from an 'open ' status to a 'closed ' status. In addition, XXXX is now reporting the account TWICE with completely different balances, again reporting the information was " verified '' with National Credit System I have already gone through court for this account, I have sent the results of the settlement to National Credit Systems, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. They are court ordered to remove the accounts, but now they are damaging my credit even more? It has caused me to be denied by mortgage lenders and is preventing me from obtaining further credit, I really do not understand how or why they are not only refusing to abide by the lawsuit settlement, but now they are making it worse. It almost seems like it's intentional? I did not have any issue in pursuing litigation with XXXX XXXX after they began to damage my credit, I will not hesitate to pursue litigation with National Credit Systems, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. I do not understand how National Credit Systems has " verified '' the information as the bureaus have reported? And now they are damaging my credit even more?

Consumer Complaint: Contacted National Credit systems multiple times in regard to this amount. The amount they are stating I owe is XXXX. Which is inaccurate in my first CFPB response back from the company they asked I provide information disputing the amount. I provided documentation proving the amount they are collecting is inaccurate. I sent them a letter as well via mail providing the emails as requested. Which were proving a lower amount of XXXX and I provided the documentation from state of California stating Fair Housing laws for California. I even said I have no problem paying a debt I owe however, the Management of this company is doing everything possible to instead report an inaccurate debt. Instead of responding accurately to my second CFPB complaint with the updated documents per their request. They flagged the complaint as duplicate vs updating the correct amount. The day after they send out a letter stating they are reporting the XXXX. Dollars even though they are aware the amount being collected is inaccurate. Ive also sent the requested documentation via mail as well. This company is knowing inaccurately reporting information. Also, this company does not reach out to the original debt owner to validate debt. I called today and XXXX XXXX Head Quarters stated they never received documentation from this company. Disputing my information.

Consumer Complaint: I attempted to speak with the leasing company XX/XX/XXXX as I was working to recovery all balances owed so that I could setup balances due with a credit counseling company to complete my action plan directive, so that I could purchase a first home. I received a ledger signed by a XXXX XXXX rep advising the balance owed was {$1100.00}. I emailed them again shortly prior to my in person visit to confirm the balance and see about rendering the balance, and as of to date i still have not received a response, I was noticed on XX/XX/XXXX that XXXX XXXX XXXX, had forward my account to collections without communications to me regarding the balances owed/responses to call or emails. National Credit Systems , Inc. XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, GA XXXX Toll Free : XXXX Phone : XXXX EMail : XXXX. I reached out to the collections company whom enabled me access to their site where i was able to get a brief itemized balance advising I owed XXXX when I was finally able to reach someone from XXXX XXXX after several calls on XX/XX/XXXX I was advised the balance was for damages to carpet. But according the prior ledger ( attached ) it was written off in XX/XX/XXXX. But re-added and submitted to collections shortly after my in person visit seeking the ledger so that I could remedy the balances as per my action plan for first time homeownership I pulled the documents rendered to the collections agency to find that the charges where not correct/ matching the balance due on the ledger of {$1100.00} as well as the lease or rental agreement they rendered is not me

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft
Consumer Complaint: I have been a victim of identity theft for the past several months. Ever since I first noticed it I have been getting monthly credit reports so that way I can assure no new accounts are being reported to any of the credit agencies. In XX/XX/2020 I noticed this new account. I immediately notified the company by letter that I have been a victim of identity theft and provided identification as well as my Identity Theft report. I asked the company to stop reporting this fraudulent information and to investigate the account. I asked for proof of the steps they would be taking. After 30 days I did not receive any correspondence from the company. In XX/XX/2020 I got a new report and the information was still being reported. I again sent another letter to them notifying them that the account was opened fraudulently. Again I have not heard any correspondence. Since it has been 60 days since the first communication I'm asking for assistance. I have attached both packets that I sent to the company as proof, a copy of my ssn card, a copy of my driver 's license, and a copy of my current identity theft report.
