Issue: Attempts to collect debt not owed

Subissue: Debt was result of identity theft

Consumer Complaint: I noticed 1 collections account on my credit around XXXX of XXXX. I called the apartment property manager who confirmed this account to be fraudulent. She informed me that there was a fraud alert placed on the XXXX XXXX apartment application on XX/XX/XXXX and the drivers license number on file is incorrect ( does not match my drivers license number ) and she was a new property manager so she was unaware of the transactions. They have an emergency contact for XXXX XXXX, I do not know this person. They also have a contact email address on file that is incorrect. This person rented the apartments and did not pay anything towards the account but they could not be evicted during covid. The total amount is for {$22000.00}. The property manager stated she would send the information she provided over the phone via email but she did not get back to me after multiple attempts to get through to the office I attempted to find the contact information for the collection agency. I requested a physical copy of my credit report around XX/XX/XXXX. I believe that same person rented another apartment at the XXXX XXXX. The apartment property manager would not give me any information and stated I should contact the police to receive any information on a possible fraudulent account. I called the collections agency on XX/XX/XXXX and was informed to dispute the charges with the main credit bureaus. The collection agency manager provided the account number and amount owed was {$29000.00}. I filed a police report the same day, XX/XX/XXXX. After receiving a copy of the police report on XX/XX/XXXX to report the incident to all major credit bureaus possible.

Subissue: Debt was paid

Consumer Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX there was a derogatory marks on my account as a result of a balance of {$990.00} from National Credit Systems. This company is a collections agency that The XXXXXXXX XXXX use. I had to terminate my lease as a result of a job opportunity elsewhere, I reached out to the front office at The XXXX, spoke to a lady by the name of XXXX XXXX explained my situation and said she would email me my Move-Out statement with the full balance I had to pay before moving out. The phone call with her was in the beginning of XXXX, XXXX sent me an email on on XX/XX/XXXX with the total amount of {$1000.00} plus my monthly rent of {$1200.00}. This amount had to be paid by or before XX/XX/XXXX. When I went to their website to make the payment I had the final amount of {$2100.00} which was paid in full on XX/XX/XXXX. Months later I get a notice that I am in collections due to me not paying The XXXX, I reached out to the apartments. Spoke to a young lady at XXXX who asked for the supporting documents. Those were emailed on XX/XX/XXXX. I called the following day on XX/XX/XXXX after the manager reviewed the documents, spoke to the manager who then stated it was reviewed and she apologized for the error on their behalf. Turns out the apartments were under new management and I paid the amount to the other management company, but to not worry and the mistake would be situated by her team. I have since, received another decrease in my credit score as on XX/XX/XXXX, which to me indicates it has not been situated. My score went from XXXX to XXXX.

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Information belongs to someone else

Consumer Complaint: National Credit Systems is currently reporting an account from XXXX apartments to the credit bureaus. Its also reporting incorrect information on the account as there is a joint applicant that I have no association with. I have spoken with National Credit Systems multiple times over 2 months timespan. I filed a dispute and was advised on XX/XX/2022 that the incorrect account on my report would be removed. That statement was provided in an email dated XX/XX/2022. National credit systems has yet to remove this fraudulent account. Today XX/XX/2022, I called and spoke with XXXX who says he is a collections supervisor. XXXX advised that the account was closed but reopened with a note stating it was closed in error. XXXX also stated on XX/XX/2022 that XXXX XXXX has advised they can not verify the debt and that the account should be closed. Despite XXXXXXXX XXXX advising the account should be closed, XXXX advised the account would not be closed if I did not send in proof that the application should be free. XXXX provided an email address for his supervisor XXXX XXXX and very rudely hung the phone up. I sent the email to XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022

Issue: Incorrect information on your report

Subissue: Account information incorrect

Consumer Complaint: My name is XXXX XXXX and I am sending this letter to help fill in the blanks of this court case and hopefully provide more insights and content. I lived at the XXXX at XXXX apartments from XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX. I enjoyed my time there, however I have XXXX kids, my son is now XXXX XXXX XXXX and my daughter is now XXXX XXXX XXXX and we have a dog so with my family getting older, dog getting bigger, I wanted to find a home where my kids have room to grow and enjoy friends over, so I decided to find a house and move out of an apartment. Over those XXXX years, I built a great partnership with XXXX XXXX in the leasing office as she was XXXX of the people I met when I moved in. In my XXXX years there, I was never delinquent without letting them know ahead of time and paying all necessary fees. So when I went to the office on XX/XX/XXXX with my son, I talked to XXXX XXXX about a home we found and we were moving out and I wanted to make sure I followed the move out process. We completed a walk through inspection of my home but stated I needed to leave my keys and fob on the kitchen counter when I moved out on XX/XX/XXXX and because the apartment complex was changing from XXXX XXXXt XXXX to another company ( now is called the XXXX at XXXX ) I could leave without a fee but I was forfeiting my deposit. She even gave me a rental reference on my new home which I moved into on XX/XX/XXXX ( please see the attachment Tenant Rental Verification ). To ensure things were documented, I sent an email on XX/XX/XXXX and recapped the move out ( Please see email XXXX XXXX move out. I am not perfect by any means but I have been trying to purchase a home and I have been trying to maintain my credit, my bills and obligations for the last year, so I can afford my home. I have attached my credit report so you could see I am definitely trying. I found the home I was interested in purchasing and you can XXXXmagine to my surprise when I was denied due to XXXX at XXXX putting on my credit report an eviction and a balance of {$7900.00}. I had no prior balance ( please see a copy of the XXXX rent receipt and confirmation ) so I have no idea where this amount is coming from, secondly, I completed all the necessary steps and left on good terms, so how was this an eviction when I was already out of the apartment and they knew it so I was never properly served. Another thing to consider is why did they wait so long for the eviction if indeed they thought I was still there? Since I have been there for 3 years, they have all my contact information. Why wait almost 2 months before doing anything, when I have been paying rent on time? This was a deliberate act of sabotage towards me and my family. I immediately created an account with XXXX, XXXX and XXXX to see if this was on all my accounts and it was under XXXX at XXXX on XXXX, XXXX and XXXX had a collection agency called National Credit Systems with their information representing the XXXX at XXXX ( Please see a copy of my credit report marked Collections document. ). This was done erroneously, so the order to appear never reached me because I had already vacated and it was not mailed to my new address so I had no idea I needed to appear in court, which brought me to filing a motion to set Aside Judgment which I did on XX/XX/XXXX. XXXX. In my research for the case, I saw another private credit agency named XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX was provided this erroneous information and has consistently been sending this information out to the other bureaus ( please see document attached ). The representative sent me a copy of the information the XXXX at XXXX had provided and I noticed they knew I had left because it was sent to them on XX/XX/XXXX ( which is different than what was advised to myself and the Judge ) that they filed the Writ of Possession in XXXX because they didnt know I left ( please see ruling document from the Judge ). I have sent numerous dispute debt letters to XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX and National Credit Systems but none of the agencies have removed this off my credit report as a collection ( please reference the Debt Dispute Letters attached ). I sent the court documents so they could see this is indeed not in collections because the amount is wrong and I was not evicted. I went to court on XX/XX/XXXX and the Judge was XXXX XXXX and all sides presented, the Judge asked me to provide the figures of the true amount and present to the Plaintiff ( please see attached document called Settlement Stipulations ) and once I did submit they sent an email stating they did not agree ( please see email attached ) and there has been no further discussion since. I do want this resolved by your assistance. I am available to chat about this anytime, I have recently relocated to XXXX CA so I am in the XXXX XXXX XXXX. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX

Subissue: Didn't receive enough information to verify debt

Consumer Complaint: Have been attempting to contact NCS for 2 years ( XXXX ) regarding the collection on my reports. It is a high amount and I do not owe money to the previous company. I requested multiple times for verification and the company only sends me a new bill with a new dollar amount owed. My recent request for verified contract and signatures, they sent me a new bill of {$2800.00} instead of {$4300.00}. This account is causing me financial distress and can not get a home loan until it is properly removed. I do not owe this company or the previous owner money. There was no contract and no evidence of ownership. Attached below is letters requesting ownership and proof of collection. NCS was sued in XXXX due to not providing proper information or amounts to clients struggling with their company for FCRA requirements.
