Consumer Complaint: I had a home equity note with People 's United Bank, it was paid in full, closed and reported accordingly to the credit bureaus. M & T Bank purchased Peoples Unite Bank and then informed me that the note was still open, after further inquiries ( emails, phone calls ) I was the informed the note was closed, and then I was informed I had to pay {$100.00}, for a mortgage discharge fee. M & T Bank has since notified the credit bureaus that I have a closed equity note with them and I owe {$100.00}. My credit reports clearly shows I had a note with Peoples United Bank, it was paid in full and it is closed. I would appreciate your help, they have reduced my credit scores, and at age XXXX, you would think they would be reasonable. Thank you in advance, XXXX XXXX ( XXXX )

Consumer Complaint: For the past three years I have been calling the bank about my monthly PMI/ MIP ( Private Mortgage Insurance/ Mortgage Insurance Premium ) because it hasn't been coming down. They told me the monthly PMI/MIP is for the entire life of the loan. I have never missed a single payment, and in fact have paid more towards principal when possible. My principal balance is extremely close to falling to 80 % of the original value of my home/original loan amount. ( 79.5 % ) As an additional testament to my responsibility, another mortgage company XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) cancelled my PMI entirely before I even reached 80 % principal to loan value. M & T Bank has a poor track record with disclosing fees to their customers. I just received a settlement check ( ~ {$40.00} ) as part of a class-action lawsuit where they charged " pay-by-phone '' fees. Many customers were part of the class-action lawsuit.

Consumer Complaint: I have been through multiple unfortunate financial scams. I am paying the heavy price for being a nave individual. total amount is in an excess of 6 figure scams. My bank, fraud department did investigate my transactions and deemed me a high risk consumer, may account was closed abruptly, even after being with white like a snow financial records for the last 26 years with same bank. Unfortunately, none of what i was promised was carried on, i was informed, my debt card will function for a month, my account will continue to pay bills as long as there is positive balance, until i transition onto a different bank, none of that occurred. I do understand, I made poor judgment on these transactions, as was elated due to the idea I am starting a new business and I am in need to fund the business. Unfortunately, everything i touched turned to be a scam even they are unrelated to each other, i. e sell a time share to fund my " new business '' etc etc. I don't know where my bank responsibilities of thees scams ends, as i did wire money to multiple separate domestic banks.

Consumer Complaint: In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The XXXX account below has violated my federally protected consumer rights to privacy and confidentiality under 15 USC 1681. Account name : M & T BANK ; Account number : XXXX Congress makes it very clear that M & T has an affirmative and continuing obligation to respect the privacy of its customers and to protect the security and confidentiality of those customers nonpublic personal information. In the consumer credit transaction mentioned above, without giving me the opportunity to opt out, M & T chose to break the law and furnish my nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties ( i.e. XXXX, XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX ). According to 15 USC 6809 ( 4 ) ( A ) The term nonpublic personal information means personally identifiable financial information ( i ) provided by a consumer to a financial institution ; ( ii ) resulting from any transaction with the consumer or any service performed for the consumer; or ( iii ) otherwise obtained by the financial institution. According to 15 USC 6809 ( 5 ) The term nonaffiliated third party means any entity that is not an affiliate of, or related by common ownership or affiliated by corporate control with, the financial institution, but does not include a joint employee of such institution. M & T admitted to me that they passed my personal nonpublic information to a company named Radius Collection via letters in the mail. M & T also failed to properly respond to my request for validation of this debt according to 12 CFR Part 1006 ( Regulation F ). They did not remove the unvalidated account from my consumer report while this account was being validated. According to 15 U.S.C 1681 section 602 A., I have the right to privacy. According to 15 U.S.C 1681 Section 604 A Section 2, a consumer reporting agency can not furnish an account without my written instructions. I NEVER gave M & T written instruction to furnish anything onto my consumer report. I want them to delete this account from my consumer report. According to 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ( A ) ( 1 ) A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate. M & T is aware that they are violating my rights as a consumer. I have disputed this account. I have sent them a notice of dispute. M & T has willingly broken several laws and violated my privacy. This leads to adverse action against me. I am NOT pleased at all. They seem to have a blatant disregard for the law. Furthermore, the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 U.S.C. 1681 ( 2 ) ( a ) ( i ) Exclusions from a consumer credit report clearly states : ( 2 ) EXCLUSIONS - Except as provided in paragraph ( 3 ), the term consumer report does not include- ( a ) Subject to section 1681s-3 of this title, any- ( i ) report containing information solely as to transactions or experiences between the consumer and the person making the report. A late payment falls under the category of transactions. They should not be on my consumer report. M & T has violated several laws at this point. Not only that, they are even reporting inaccurate information to my consumer report. I want this account deleted from my account immediately.

Consumer Complaint: I am the Treasurer on the Board of a nonprofit called the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, a small spiritual group headquartered in XXXX, Massachusetts. For many years we banked with XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX which was taken over by M & T bank around XXXX XXXX this past XXXX. In early XXXX we noticed fraudulent activity on our checking account, we went to the bank to report it, closed that account, and opened a new checking account. In total there were 17 fraudulent charges against us. I'm a little unclear about the timing but I believe it was in XXXX we saw two fraudulent withdraws from our new checking account so we closed that and opened a new account. The new, third account had one fraudulent withdrawal 10 days ago but the bank quickly accepted the withdrawal as fraudulent and returned the funds. Today I received this email from XXXX XXXX, M & T branch manager in XXXX. ( She used to be the manager in XXXX where I used to live ). " Hi XXXX, I researched all the claims for the three accounts very thoroughly with our customer support team. The three transactions you mentioned below, M & T reached out to the receiving banks and we learned these transactions were processed through XXXX, a payment processing company. XXXX will not honor or review claim disputes that were not initiated within 24 hours of the original charge. You should have received communication from M & T recently regarding the finalization of these claims. I will forward copies to the XXXX XXXX so you may pick up a hard copy, or I can mail them to you. Please advise which works better for you. Thank you, XXXX '' in a second email from XXXX today she wrote : " I just replied to your previous message regarding the three XXXX XXXX transactions. I also replied to your other message about the two checks drawn from the account ending in XXXX. I would recommend reaching out to these companies directly to see if there is any additional investigation to be done ; they have denied the claims placed through M & T. For XXXX XXXX, try calling XXXX, here is their site - XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX For the {$1800.00} check XXXX XXXX - Online Banking | Open an Online Bank Account | XXXX ; for the {$4500.00} check XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX '' We are hoping you can help us recover our funds. The three instances mentioned above are all obviously fraudulent and the bank is not taking any responsibility for allowing these charges to be paid. The bank has strung us along for months, not at all transparent in their process until today they say they can't do anything more and it's on us to get out money back. Can you please help us? What is the bank 's responsibility here? Do we need a lawyer and take them to court? Any help and advice you can give us will be appreciated.
