Issue: Problems caused by my funds being low

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: Made a bank to bank transfer due to insufficient funds so that I would not be charged with an overdraft fee. I called to let them know the transfer wont make it on time and she said to call back once the transaction is listed in the history so that they can waive the fee. I call back once the transfer appears on the history and the representative on the phone say 's theres no way for me to have the overdraft fee waived. At this point I am not upset about the fee but at the fact that the XXXX representative told me specifically to wait until it shows up on my card history of the bank transfer so that they can waive the fee. At this point, me waiting for the fee to show up, had costed me an additional overdraft fee which Is now unnecessary additional money I had to pay out of my pocket. I am upset that each individual representative that i spoke to over the phone denies any liabilities when it comes to what they say. It is a reflection of a dishonest company where each representative does not want to take responsibility for what has been said. I will soon close my account with M & T bank soon due to their lack of diligence in this matter and their obvious greed to generate revenues from overdraft fees.

Consumer Complaint: I paid my mortgage via the banks online payment system with the amount of XXXX got the confirmation number provided on XXXX XXXX. The payment was supposed to be withdrawn on XXXX XXXX. Somehow the bank cashed my check but it was never paid to the mortgage Co. They kept on charging me overdraft fees for NSF. Actually the funds were never returned and everything fell apart. In XXXX 2015, they refunded my money but they flatly refused to refund my overdraft charges. I just want to know why did it take so long to refund my money. They refused to answer my questions and refund my overdraft charges ( XXXX x XXXX )

Issue: Account opening, closing, or management

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I intended to sign up for a bank account with M & T Bank and all online materials indicated that all I needed to do was make a deposit from my debit card from another account. Once I did this, I was informed that they needed much more information. I asked to be refunded the money. They refused and replied that they could not release the funds without account verification. I replied that I did not want an account and they had no trouble taking my money therefore it should not be any trouble to return it to the card from which it was deposited. They will not give me my money back and are not assessing service charges monthly to systematically steal my money. My money is being held hostage by them. They took my money under false pretenses and now refuse to return it.

Issue: Loan modification,collection,foreclosure

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: I have been misled by the representatives of M & T Bank and I can not understand the poor treatment I have received during the servicing of my mortgage loan. I have lived in my home since XX/XX/XXXX, and I 'm an active member of the community ( I volunteer with my church and with my son 's school ). But I am in jeopardy of being forced out of my house through foreclosure because M & T Bank refuses to work out a reasonable solution. This property has had its issues since I purchased it. The appraisal and inspections failed to inform me of the XXXX unit being old ( I had to immediately replace it ) and of the foundation issues I had to repair. But this is my home!!! I worked hard to get this home and I want to keep it. In XX/XX/XXXX, I lost my job as a XXXX since XXXX forced them out of business. I struggled by using my savings until I could n't anymore and fell behind on my mortgage. After back and forth trying to get help, the lender offered me a forbearance agreement that I complied with. Eventually I got another managerial job and applied for a modification, but all M & T offered me was an unrealistic and irrational proposal which only dropped my payment by $ 100/month, which was n't going to help me. Their entire operation operates like a group of bullies and thugs, not businessmen. While trying work with them on a solution to this problem, the representative ( XXXX I believe ) told me I should just " put it up '' ( meaning put my house up for sale!!! ). She knew I was n't going to get the help I needed to save my home!!! I want their office to take a hard look at the servicing history of my loan and the possible retention options so I can get back on track with my mortgage. Is n't that what they are obligated to do after taking my tax dollars to bail their business out? I 'm not asking for a handout, just a fair and reasonable solution that allows me to keep my home. M & T Bank has turned my life upside down with their deceptive, unethical, and probably illegal activities. I am very kind, but also tough and resourceful. I am left with no choice but to engage elected officials and regulatory agencies to help me against this lender. I would have preferred to deal with them directly, but they have proven that their organization just another greedy company interested in profits without care for the well-being of their clients. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this matter.

Issue: Managing the loan or lease

Subissue:

Consumer Complaint: When I purchased an automobile ( a XXXX Mercedes-BEnz XXXX ) I took out a loan with M & T Bank. When I received my vehicle title from the Maryland XXXX XXXX it reflected a lien. The loan was paid of in the beginning of XXXX. I expected that I would receive a document thet reflected the termination of the lien. This reflects my experience with my other vehicle. After some time has lapsed, I called the general service number for M & T to inquire about this process ( on XXXX XXXX, XXXX ). At that time, a service superviser identifying himself as XXXX said there may have been a error on the bank 's part and the title continued to reflect the lien in error. He said someone might get a hold of me about the issue. Since no one has done that as of now, I called again. This time XXXX responded ( on XXXX XXXX ). After hearing my information, she said New York XXXX places the responsibility for clearing a lien on the customer. After pointing out that I live in Maryland, she offered to turn me over to another superviser. Clearly, I am getting a different story each time I call.

Consumer Complaint: Due to divorce, and the condition of my house, my ex and I decided to sell. We initially tried a traditional sale, but the foundation condition, I would not be able to break even. I started the short sale process with a realtor. Submitted all the paperwork, got the house listed, the realtor worked with the bank on the sale. Once a buyer came and made an offer, I moved out of the house and into an apartment. After months and months of the bank stating that we were missing documents and myself and the realtor resubmitting them, the bank came and said to us on Tuesday, XXXX XXXX that due to more missing documents, they were moving forward with a foreclosure. I quickly resubmitted everything AGAIN and my realtor asked for an extension so that the bank could review everything. On Friday, XXXX XXXX, my realtor called me telling me that he had just heard from the bank and they were moving forward with foreclosure and their new reasoning was because I had moved before the house was sold. ( I moved after a buyer put in an offer and this was OK 'd by everyone, no one told me not to move ). On Monday, XXXX XXXX the bank contacted me telling me that they declined the sale offer and were moving forward with foreclosure for a completely different reason. Their reason on this date was because of the condition and the damage to the house. I specifically asked what damage they were referring too. They said they found damage when they went out and inspected the house. I asked them what date specifically did they come and inspect the house because they never called me or my realtor asking for a key, or the lock box code to get into the house. The bank told me that they did n't need to ask for a key because they have already secured the property with their own lock box. So I asked again, what date did you do this and how did you get in without a key to secure the property and inspect it. After demanding that they tell me WHEN they went out there, I was put on hold for about 10 minutes and when she came back on the phone, she said that she had made a mistake and that they had n't gone out to inspect the property. At which point, I got very irate with a bank, a business blatantly lying to me. So I asked again, why they were foreclosing now, and she again said because of the damage. So I asked what damage since they had n't been out there. She then said that it was too close to the foreclosure date ( Tuesday, XXXX XXXX ) to be able to do anything. At this point, I go, so on XXXX XXXX, you said you were foreclosing because of missing paperwork, ( which was all resubmitted again ), and on Friday, XXXX XXXX, you said you were foreclosing because I had moved and had broken some contract by moving, and now on XXXX XXXX your reasoning is because of damage that you have never seen because you have never been out to inspect it. Every day it was a different story. I hung up on the bank, and called my realtor who then called the bank, and the story that he got on the foreclosure was because the buyers offer was too low than what they thought the house was worth ( I guess they got that off the internet or something, because again, they have never been inside the property ). Every person at the bank is giving me a different story and my realtor a different story on WHY they are foreclosing ( with a one week notice ) and its all nothing but lies.
