Consumer Complaint: Bank : M & T Bank This year I have been a victim of fraud charges twice. The first time on XX/XX/XXXX of this year and then on XX/XX/XXXX of this year. In a amount totaling {$5000.00}. Both times it happened in XXXX XXXX. I reported the issue to the police departments and froze my checking account. In the weeks following I worked with XXXX police departments and we got pictures of the suspects. I thought this would resolve my issue but M & T refuses to reimburse me my money. The reason they will not reimburse me is in both cases my pin number was used. I have provided a reason how my pin was retrieved. In both cases my debit card was stolen in the same place which I find odd. I have been a customer of M & T for over 6 years and this is how they treat me.

Consumer Complaint: In 2013, I open a M & T account for direct deposit. Without notice, a lawyer somehow put a freeze on my checking account. I was n't aware of the freeze until I went to use my check card. I was not given any notice that my account was going to be put into a freeze status. After I went to court and explained to the judge what happened, he released the freeze from my account. I closed the M & T checking account because I was not happy with the way they put my account into freeze without letting me know first. Later, I was charged by M & T bank for extra fees for some very small unauthorized charges. I 'm not sure what these charges for or why they were put on my account, but I was held accountable for them being charged {$38.00} fee on a {$1.00} charge, etc. This was done three times for very small charges. I was n't made aware that I had a balance until I went to have my name added to account with my husband at XXXX XXXX this year. XXXX XXXX would not allow me to establish a joint checking account with my husband because they said I had an outstanding amount to pay at M & T. I need these charges to be investigated because I feel they were unrightfully charged against my account at M & T and wrongful bank fees were applied giving me a negative rating with XXXX XXXX for minor unauthorized charges.

Consumer Complaint: I submitted a request to modify my loanXX/XX/XXXX to M & T Bank via XXXX XXXX XXXX because I was having financial difficulty. The modification was not completed until XX/XX/XXXX and the foreclosure process was initiated in XX/XX/XXXX. The loan company did not allow me to stop the modification process and enter to a re-payment plan. They stated that I was still in good standing and the loan modification was ready for completion in XX/XX/XXXX. However, the company continued the loan modification process requesting the same paperwork numerous times and allowing critical paperwork to expire. Missing documentation letters they claimed to have sent to me were not sent but manufactured after the fact. I have requested that a list of dates that requested documents were received and scanned to compare them to these documents. I believe it would show that the documents they claimed were not received were in fact in their possession. After assuring me I would not go into foreclosure, the foreclosure process had already begun. The company refused to send this info as it would show that the missing documentation letters were addressed in a timely manner and the delay was on the part of XXXX XXXX XXXX. When the trial modification was complete, the loan was higher than the previous loan I was trying to modify. I was ordered to pay {$470.00} instead of {$440.00} per month, a net increase of XXXX and I also have to pay {$4700.00} in foreclosure fees, which could have been avoided if the organization would have been able to process information for the loan modification.

M & T bank froze acct, could not use acct., debit or find representative that could help me I was instructed to phone legal dept, which I did, left a message on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX Direct deposits, and ATM deposits being made into acct, but ca n't access funds for anything ( food, gas, monthly bills ) There was NO NOTICES SENT to me either e-mail, online, phone or text. I called numerous times to contact. Again NO ONE called back or assisted me. Would like to know what is going on, and how long my money will be held hostage. I ca n't borrow from anyone. I live alone.

Consumer Complaint: The Bank M & T has cheated me out of a {$250.00} bonus offer as advertised on line. I opened a checking account and setup a direct deposit as required. The balance in the account is now over {$6000.00}! When I inquired as to when the bonus would be paid was told I am not eligible. Now they are telling me the wrong account was opened. I applied for the bank 's EZ Choice checking account. The bank opened a Classic Checking Account with interest account. Now, they tell me the bonus offer WILL NOT be paid. Instead, they paid me an interest payment of just {$0.00}!

Consumer Complaint: On XXXX17 my automatic mortgage payment deducted {$890.00} from my savings account to pay my mortgage. On the same date, I deposited {$900.00} to cover this amount in full. On my electronic statements both of these transactions are listed as being completed on XXXX17. I then received an insufficient funds notification. Their company policy according to service reps I have spoken to in the past is that if a deposit and withdrawal take place on the same date then there is technically no insufficient funds. The payment " presented '' the day before and therefore charged me for insufficient funds for a transaction that would take place the NEXT BUSINESS day. Again, I am penalized for funds not being available the day BEFORE the financial transaction posted and was withdrawn from my account. Customer service argues the semantics of this magical " presentation '' of my payment rather than accept responsibility for an error in their policy vs practice.

Consumer Complaint: This all started with a new car loan this XXXX. After obtaining the loan I requested a copy of the credit report used by the lender. When I received the report and reviewed it, I found errors reported by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( M & T Bank loan XXXX. ) Specifically, the date of last payment and the date account closed is wrong ( should have closed XXXX ), and the detail seems to suggest that the loan was 120 days or more past due. I complained to XXXX three times. On the third time, they sent the complaint to M & T Bank. None of the items were corrected and they added a new delinquency for 180 days or more late. Attached are the latest results from the dispute as provided from XXXX and a letter from M & T bank proving that I paid the loan off in XXXX XXXX. The loan originated in XXXX XXXX, so there is no possible way this loan was open on XXXX and no possible way this loan was ever 120 days or more past due. During this process I spoke, via phone, directly with M & T Bank. The person I spoke to told me the loan was not properly closed when I made the XXXX payment. This error has to be corrected. Thank you.

This was after a six year process with both M & T Bank ( the current holder of the mortgage loan ) and Hudson City Savings Bank ( which merged with M & T Bank in XX/XX/XXXX) submitting multiple loan modifications. I received via regular postal mail on XX/XX/XXXX the 'Notice of Demand Of Possession ' attached in this compliant - three notices total as you will find addressed to XXXX XXXX , XXXX XXXX , and Tenant/Occupant. Within these letters, both M & T Bank and M & T Bank 's legal counsel ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) included incorrect and carelessly exposed information on the following : a ) The property listed as : XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, NJ XXXX is listed on two of the three documents sent. This is not the correct property associated with this case and sensitive matter. This is a breach of privacy and a violation of bank privacy laws ( federal and state ) against both myself and my spouse ( XXXX XXXX ), as well as the residents of the above stated property which was carelessly exposed. b ) The date of Sheriff Sale is incorrect on all three documents. XX/XX/XXXX on two of the documents, and XX/XX/XXXX on the other are all incorrect. My expectation at this time is that M & T Bank will conduct a full internal self investigation on this entire case ( File # XXXX, Loan # XXXX ) and the CFPB will act as the liaison. There is nothing you and we can do at this point besides wait for our third party provider to fix the issue. : - (

No individual can provide t he answers needed to resolve the issues. - Decided to cont act M & T Bank Ch airman and CEO along with each of the bank 's regulatory agencies for assistance and resolution of all issues.
