Consumer Complaint: I had a checking account with this bank that was closed and brought to a XXXX balance before it was closed. Theyre reporting it as a charge off on my credit report, not only that but they fraudulently ran my credit without any authorization for any type of loan or extension of credit. I wasnt even living in a state they do business in at the time! I tried to get answers and all I got was the run around from them and no one could seem to answer my questions.

Consumer Complaint: My fiances account and my account have had money held by M & T bank for many months. I opened the accounts last year They required me to send in my personal information, social security card and a recent utility bill after locking my account and allowing no withdrawals. It's been a week and my accounts are still locked. I was told by the representative that it would take approximately 24-48 hours to unlock. Since it's been locked, and prior to me calling, they've continued to take out their fees for owning the account while not allowing me to close the account or use the money in said account. Approximately XXXX for 10 months or so. They refuse to send me my money to XXXX out the balance or close the account because the balance must be XXXX to close the account. I can not initiate transfers for the account because they have the account locked, my money is being held hostage by a fraudulent banking corporation.

Consumer Complaint: This has been a very long stressful 7 years fighting to save my home. After fighting throughout these years in and out of court the only way I could stop the wrongful foreclosure was to file for bankruptcy. I finally had my day in court to provide proof I have made all my payments and was not delinquent on my payments and the only payments I owed were all the payments that were returned back to me by the bank. As you can see on the attachments the judge ruled in our favor. I have recently requested for a payoff, so I can leave this financial institution and I had to request twice thru my attorney and had to send a request in writing thru registered receipt and it took over two months to finally receive the request. And the payoff is incorrect! They are currently charging me for bankruptcy fees and cost, when they are the reason I had to file to begin with because they gave me no choice, it was the only way to stop the wrongful foreclosure! Also, throughout these years, even when the account was with XXXX, I have had an overage on my Escrow and this payoff does not reflect that overage. M & T Bank is holding a claims payment from the insurance to repair our roof for {$13000.00} that is not reflecting on this payoff. The statements I have been receiving is reflecting I am late on my payments again..how many more times are they going to do this and when will the harassment stop! I am current and I have all the cashed checks to provide proof if needed ( there are too many to attach, but I will provide them upon request ).

Consumer Complaint: An offer was sent to receive a {$200.00} bonus for opening a checking account. The terms stated to open the account by XX/XX/2018 and make a direct deposit of {$500.00} or more within the first 90 days to receive the bonus. An attempt was made to open the account online on XX/XX/18, but there was an error and said to finish by calling or going to a branch. On XX/XX/18, we went into the XXXX, MD branch to complete the application process using the promotion sent in the mail. Following the terms and conditions, a direct deposit was made on XX/XX/18 for more than the required amount in the promotion. After a few months, M & T was contacted via online secure messaging on XX/XX/18 to confirm if the bonus would post. An agent replied on XX/XX/18 that the bonus should post by XX/XX/18 if the account is in good standing and the requirements have been met. No bonus posted by XX/XX/18, so another secure message was sent on XX/XX/18 to inquire. M & T replied on XX/XX/18 stating that the offer was not for the primary account holder but the joint account holder. As a result, they said the bonus would not post. Based on this, they never set up the account correctly in the branch by not making the primary account holder the name on the offer. After speaking with the branch on XX/XX/18, they continued to insist that they would not give the bonus.

Consumer Complaint: M & T bank transaction fraud : I sold my house on XX/XX/2018. Closing was finalized and my attorney paid the payoff amount to M & T bank. 6 days later on XX/XX/2018, M & T bank withdrew another {$700.00} from my account for mortgage payment. I first called my attorney to make sure everything had been settled and they assured me it had and forwarded me the documentation. Then I called M & T bank to ask what was going on. A summary of the conversation is as follows Me : " I closed my mortgage on the XXXX and today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) I had another mortgage withdrawal from my account '' M & T representative : " I see you did close your account but you had auto-pay setup with us so it withdrew the money automatically. It is your responsibility to cancel your auto-pay or another payment like this will happen '' Me : " Don't you have any simple regulation logic in your system to check if a mortgage is closed and paid in full, to not take more money from a person 's account? '' M & T representative : " No '' Me : " Is there any way of you reversing this transaction '' M & T representative : " No we can't do that on our end. Sorry. But don't worry once accounting finalizes everything. If we took too much money we will just give you a check '' Me : " That doesn't seem right that you can just take more money than you are supposed to '' M & T representative : " I understand, but you were supposed to cancel your auto-pay and you didn't and this is why this happened. You will get a check with the amount if we took too much money '' Me : " Again, it seems weird you don't have some regulation in your system setup to prevent this '' M & T representative : " I'm sorry, is there anything else I can help you with? '' Me : " No '' It seems illegal for a bank to essentially take more money than they are allowed to from my account without my permission and claim it was my fault. Then tell me it is ok they will just send me a check at some unknown time in the future. It seems M & T bank is not being accountable for their actions.

Consumer Complaint: My complaint is with M & T bank about their 'collection ' calls. I was out of work for 4 months and got behind on my mortgage payments. I am now back to work, getting paid every other week. Even though I have provided a payment schedule to the bank for the next 3 payments, they continue to call me. The calls yesterday and today (XX/XX/XXXX ) were about my XX/XX/XXXX payment being late. I have filled out a complaint form on the M & T website as well. There is no reason to repeatedly call me when the situation or payment schedule I provided is not changing. Their calls and behavior constitute harassment and I want it to stop.
