Subissue: Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Consumer Complaint: M & T bank is showing ( 30 ) days late on a payment that was attempted to be made on several occasions. Each time I spoke with a representative from the bank, they told me they were having computer issues and that they were not able to process the payment. The bank does not have an automated system and my wife always asks to speak to a representative to make a payment on the phone. However, during the 3 attempts to make a payment the bank told my wife their systems were down still. The woman representative my wife spoke with told her she didnt know when the system would be working but to have her call back. We finally got through to make a payment, but by the time we were able to get help from the representative, the payment reported late by this time. The woman representative was able to take the payment over the phone and she said she would make a note on the computer that this payment was in fact NOT late and that it would not go on our credit report because it was no fault of ours that the bank does not have an automated payment system and when we finally got to speak to a representative it was several days later. This incorrect reporting is harming my credit score.

Subissue: Account status incorrect
Consumer Complaint: My account was reported 30 days late to the credit bureaus. The issue was that I never received the account statement. Previously my account payments were never late, I have maintained excellent payment and credit history. When I called to check my credit card, I found out that there was an outstanding balance, I went online to make the payment right away. This included the late fees imposed in the amounts of {$30.00} and {$15.00}, totaling {$45.00}. I paid the entire amount and called in to speak with customer service. They told me I don't owe anything, the account is paid in full but they can't help me correct the negative item on my credit reports with XXXX and other bureaus. I spent almost an hour, called three times and was told the same thing. I gave up and finally filed a dispute with XXXX about that negative item on my credit report. That has dropped 99 points from my credit score, which is hurting my credit history. This is not fair especially considering that I don't owe anything to the credit card company and had maintained an excellent record with them and other companies. They must inform the credit bureaus to delete the negative item right away.

Consumer Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I nearly lost an M & T Bank savings account with a balance of {$16000.00} to " escheatment, '' defined as " reversion of property to the state when no legal heirs or claimants exist. '' I had opened the account in XX/XX/XXXX, signed up for online banking, regularly went to the website to get my monthly statements, and suddenly discovered that only my checking account remained. I called my M & T branch to investigate the missing savings account and was told it had been deemed " dormant '' and was reported to the State as " abandoned funds '' because I had not made a deposit or withdrawal since XX/XX/XXXX. ( Under Maryland " unclaimed property '' laws, the State can legally grab bank-reported " abandoned '' accounts after only 3 years. ) This was an eventuality no one had warned me of when I opened the account, and I had never received a notice from M & T Bank -- written or otherwise -- that my savings account was in jeopardy owing to " inactivity. '' When I went in person to my M & T branch to show ID, sign a form acknowledging I own the account, and prove I was still alive and kicking, the account was restored to " active '' status, and my savings account reappeared online. I set up $ XXXX monthly transfers from my checking account ( always very active ) to my savings account to prevent escheatment ever happening again. I want seniors to hear my story. If you think your nest egg is safe because it's in the bank, you should double-check.

Consumer Complaint: I was told by the company that they will keep money that was given to me in the form of a check to repair storm damage to the property. They only want to give me XXXX % at a time. This isn't enough money to even begin repairs. I can't get a contractor to agree to start the process. I believe that the bank is trying to prevent me from getting repairs done, so that they can keep the entire check.

Consumer Complaint: i have a mortgage payment due by the XXXX otherwise i have to make a {$42.00} late payment and since i do not work anymore due to medical issues, so i do not collect a paycheck. i only receive my Social Security benefits in which i receive direct deposit on the XXXX wednesday of each month, so i notify M & T. bank regarding this and told i can do a loan modification, so i did all that, now as of today on XX/XX/XXXX i called them and talked to them about changing my due date so i do not accrue late fees, and the only way to do that is to refinance and that is not fair, that i have to pay late fees because i do not get my Social Security check until the XXXX of each month, so 6 months out of the year it will cost me roughly {$250.00} extra per year, especially when i only make {$1600.00} a month and my mortgage is {$1200.00} and they should have some common decency and allow me to change my due date one time, since i never had it change.

Consumer Complaint: According to my understanding of the Homeowners Protection Act, PMI should be removed from my mortgage payment when my loan to value reaches 80 % or less. Currently, my loan balance is XXXX, and my home value according to XXXX, is XXXX. That puts my loan to value at approximately 48 %. My current mortgage company refuses however, to remove the PMI from my payment. The response from XXXX XXXX XXXX, customer support associate, is that " per FHA regulations, as the loan was assigned an FHA case number after XX/XX/XXXX the annual MIP will be automatically terminated when the loan is eleven years old, which will be on XX/XX/XXXX. The mortgage was first originated all the way back in XX/XX/XXXX/XX/XX/XXXX, and has been sold/resold several times since then. I also refinanced back in XX/XX/XXXX with XXXX XXXX XXXX, and then the loan was sold to M & T bank who has it now. So, what is correct the Homeowners protection act or M & T bank?
